I feel like if you also understood the meaning behind Sonogong and its choreography, it's even more of a masterpiece. This song references to a great piece of literature. The Korean name of this song is "손오공 (son-ogong)" is a mythical figure and the main character of the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West. Most commonly known as the monkey king, or Sun Wukong in Chinese. In the story, he is like a powerful superhero who protects hist team all the way from China to India to bring back the Buddish Scriptures. During this trip, they encountered many hardships and dangers but concurred them one by one. The part where the dancers created two mounds and hopped from one mound to the other represents the monkey's personality. "Hop on our cloud and get all around" in the lyric is a reference to his ability to travel interstellar distances with his flying cloud - which is when S.Coups was lifted and passed from the back to the front in the air. The incantation in the lyric might reference to the spell that the Tang monk uses to restrain him from his rebellious nature. In Joshua's line, the "power pole" is his weapon, which can transform extremely big or small. The choreography at the end is a simulation of Wukong's power and making copies of himself with his fur to form an army. There are many more references and great parts of the choreography with meaning and understanding what they refer to makes this even more of a masterpiece. (NB. Parts of this comment were referenced from a comment I saw on the original video although I can't find the comment again to name the person who wrote the original one).

I love it when professionals understand the whole artistry of seventeen, their choreo or songs, despite u guys not knowing them prior to this reaction. It's so cool!!!
FINALLY Seventeen on the channel 🙌🏾 Hoshi (Adidas jacket) is the main dancer and performance team leader. You would also like Dino (main dancer and youngest in the group). He's always FULL OUT, but his body control is unmatched. He's so clean and detailed oriented. Favorite dancers in SVT would have to be Hoshi, Dino, Vernon (sleeveless guy), and Woozi. Also love the way Seungkwan moves. Dino used to help him so much when they were trainees that you can definitely tell his groove has been influenced by the way Dino moves.
As a Hoshi-biased.. I am honored to present to you the Adidas Jacket guy.. Uri performance leader.. Seventeen goes hard and hard to their choreo that everything went to be a masterpiece.. To those who appreciate dancing, Seventeen is an A+++ recommendation... I don't see them as a KPOP group but rather a rare gem of dancing group with musicality and vocals as a bonus... 😘 💙💓
"Sleeveless guy" LETS GO VERNON!!! ❤ I've been a dancer my entire life & I was immediately captured by his movement quality when I first discovered Seventeen. He just has such a great balance of cleanliness & charisma onstage, I knew he was destined to be my bias! Absolutely loved seeing you breakdown their incredible choreography in this video, thank you!! My personal favorites from SVT are Don't Wanna Cry & Fallin Flower if you want to check them out!😊
Hahha you right about HOSHI..he always dances like his rent is due..jokes apart he is VERY SINCERE about his work and NEVER slacks off ..if he is doing something is give his 500% HOSHI is so AMAZING !!love him !!🔥🔥 Our TIGER~🐯🔥🔥
The Adidas jacket guy's name is Hoshi...he is the main dance of seventeen and is the leader of Seventeen's performance unit....The sleeveless guy's name is Vernon and he is a member of the hip-hop sub-unit of seventeen.....
The way seventeen dances as a whole will elevate your standards in KPOP. It definiteltly did for me. The whole crew dances like they are all main dancers and their live performances are on another level 🔥🔥🔥
Adidas Jacket is Hoshi - unit leader of Seventeen's Performance team . He also helps choreograph their songs. If you have time, check out Lilili Yabbay, Highlight, etc. by the same team unit. His performance energy is really all out. Sleeveless Guy is Vernon - unit member of Seventeen's HipHop team. Before debut, he was supposed to be part of performance team but got rearranged. He is one of the main rappers of Seventeen. Being considered as part of performance team says a lot about his dancing.
Oh my god, the sound effects and mimicking Hoshi around 5:10 made me laugh so hard, your reaction is so relatable 😂 Hoshi's parts always has my stank face vibrating like crazy, boys insane
Yes! Finally Seventeen! Their choreography is so beautiful and typically tied into the story of their song. The performance unit (4 members) are involved in creating/learning the choreography, especially Hoshi aka Adidas jacket. This group can do it all!
Please react to more of their dance practices such as Rock with You, Left and Right, Hit, Fear, Very Nice and many more. These guys are known for their synchronization during performances despite having 13 members in total. Thanks for the reaction, have a good day.
Dont get me wrong, but Dancers recognised dancers, i mean hoshi and vernon (the adidas and sleeveless) is literally the best dancer in their group. So amazing because he mentioned those two is the one that piqued his interest. Love seventeen.
King of Sync...their journey from trainee is amazing, they really put 1000% effort and work hard in every comeback and that's what makes me stan them....
Since you like how Hoshi moves, I feel like you'll also like the choreo to his solo SPIDER. The dancers are also well utilized!! I also want to suggest 24H, Fallin Flower, and Home;run. Every svt choreo is really amazing. I hope you get to see their other vids🙏
The inspiration for the song and choreography are from DragonBall Z / Chinese Mythology, Monkey King. I think that’s why ripples were used a lot to refer to cloning. 🤔 Adidas Jacket is Hoshi! The main dancer! HAHAHAHA. Sleeveless Guy is Vernon, a rapper in their group. ❤ I hope you get to react to other dances of SEVENTEEN! ❤
This is probably one of the BEST DANCE reactions I've ever seen. Thank you!!!!!!! Thank you for noticing Vernon (the sleeveless guy & my favorite) & I definitely agree that Hoshi is on 🔥💯. That's why he's the performance leader.
Any Seventeen dance choreography reaction whether solo or group will bring me back! I enjoyed your commentary, thank you for watching and appreciating our boys' hard work.
okay so heres the list of all name of the members 0:32 wonwoo 1:43 mingyu 1:51 Jeonghan 2:28 Seungkwan 2:33 Dino (member of performance team) 2:42 Vernon (the sleeveless guy, ps: he's a hiphop team member not in performance) 2:49 Hoshi (performance team leader) 2:56 Dk 4:08 Scoups 4:21 Joshua 5:21 The8 (member of performance team) 6:22 Jun (member of performance team) 7:01 woozi you should react to more seventeen dance practice! promise you wont regret it:))
So glad the SEVENTEEN reaction is here! Glad to see you've noticed Hoshi (Adidas jacket) and Vernon (sleeveless). Hoshi's the Performance Unit leader while Vernon is a part of the Hip-hop Unit (mainly rapping), both brilliant dancers, as is the entire group. If you're thinking of looking into more of SEVENTEEN, I think it would be great if you looked into HOME;RUN and HOT among others. You might also want to look at the Performance Unit's LILILI YABBAY, or even Hoshi's Spider. Those are among my favorite performances/choreographies
Hoshi who in adidas jacket always give his 100% when he performs, that I‘m really proud to be his and SVT’s carat❤He put so much energy for SVT performance which makes it more powerful and outstanding with other groups! Thanks our Tiger(hamster)!
I know everyone and should love the harder parts of the choreo from Hoshi and Vernon but I especially love that you bring attention to the more calmer parts of the choreo. They don't get enough love at all (because they don't shout the loudest). Contrast is super important to create drama and juxtaposition; we can appreciate Hoshi's crazier parts BECAUSE of the subdued contrast set by the calmer parts from DK, Jeonghan, Minghao, and Joshua. They are JUST AS important in the setup of the overall conversation of the choreo. I wish more and more people would appreciate dancers that vibe, flow and/or calm the mood down.
Finally, a reaction/dance analysis for Seventeen dance practiceeee, I've been waiting for this and for additional info, their song was like referenced by like the monkey king and like dragon ball z😅 On the othe hand, the member, adidas jacket is Hoshi, and the sleeveless guy is Vernon. P.S. There are some of seventeen choreographies that includes those like a breathing part choreo where they rest a little bit after dancing too hard and then dance againnn. Their choreos are always good😊 P.P.S. Kinda miss some dancers of steezy specially Bailey Sok and Sean Lew plus Josh Price and Julian de Guzman😅
To your PPS, we miss them too 😅. They're so busy now!! Booked and blessed ❤️. We do have a Dancers React with Julian DeGuzman coming out in a few weeks though!
SEVENTEEN now hold the records for the artists with the MOST PRE-ORDERED ALBUM🔥, Highest 1st day &1st week sales this century with over (4.7M+) . they're the best selling group globally last year too ❤
I’ve been telling ppl I love Vernon’s part, where he hangs his hands loose but it’s sorta controlled. I don’t know how to explain but I’m glad a professional dancer see it the same way ❤❤❤
I really want someone react to Hoshi because he is effortlessly the best dancer... He goes crazy while dancing and has a stable vocals that ppl usually can mistake him as a member of the vocal group 😂❤
The guy with the long black hair and the tight shirt that was center towards the end was slept on, his movements are so ooey gooey and somehow still sharp
SEVENTEEN is the most synchronized group in kpop when it comes kpop+dance, you can't leave out SEVENTEEN (there is another main dancer in SVT, who is DINO ( 2:34 ), he is an amazing dancer too) and i hope u will react to more SEVENTEEN’s dance related contents❤
the adidas jacket guy knows how to show force and relax in his moves, kind of like knows how to show aggressive strength and how much. does someone get me?
I think the reason that they leaned so heavily into ripples for this particular choreography is that they wanted to emphasize the number of backup dancers while also mimicking shadow clone jutsu
even though I've seen this performance for a billion times it's still really entertaining for me to watch and listen to others' opinions. TYSM FOR THE REVIEW 🎉🎉
rewatching this again, and put aside the way all the easy listening comments, he's so cute being all excited and seems so happy! please reacts to more seventeen dance practice, they got tons of it. maybe home run? don quiote? or hit? thank you and have fun!
I'm so glad y'all finally reacted to Seventeen!! You definitely need to check out the rest of their choreography, they're known to be the most synchronized and best choreo in all of k-pop!! ❤️
Adidas Jacket = Hoshi (Part Of The Performance Unit) He is also the leader of the Performance Unit and that make him also the main dancer of his group SEVENTEEN, and he would scold his members in a funny if they mess up the choreography or if they weren't in synchronization 😂😂, And for Sleeveless Guy = Vernon (Part Of The Hip-Hop Unit) He is a really good and amazing rapper with great dancing skills.
being carats plus hoshi stan (adidas jacket) and vernon stan (sleevles guy) i'm so glad you're doing a video about this amazing band! Hoshi is known for his way of dancing! he is one of the best in this field and he is the leader of the performance team within the group! it's an incredible dancer! just like Vernon!! much too under priced besides thank you for having the eye! it's really fun! horanghae!
was waiting for this channel to react to seventeen. also seventeen usually mixes up alot of complex and "basic" (something the crowd can follow along) but in this particular comeback they just went and full ham on it. would love to see more seventeen reactions to dance practices like dont wanna cry , getting closer , anyone , heaven , etc. all their choreos are good but these ones are some of their best.
Sleeveless Boy is Vernon, who's on the hiphop team but he's a really solid dancer still. Adidas Jacket (Hoshi) taught everyone in Seventeen (except for 2 people who became trainees before him + Dino who's been dancing his whole life) how to dance, so honestly everyone in the group performs really well, even the members who don't have a formal 'dancer' position as per their official profiles
I stan Seventeen the moment I saw their choreography video for Don't Wanna Cry. When I was watching that video - it was a bit blurry due to poor connection that time - and I don't recognize any of the members yet. But my eyes were caught and followed only one member - whose movements were really good - for me as a former dancer and choreographer too. I was surprised later when I discovered he is the main dancer. Hoshi is really the man with the moves and charm. The Addidas guy:))
Never realized that that ending part had a cloning effect. Now that in the context of 손오공 being able to multiply himself in the legend makes so much sense represented in the dance move 😮
i’m honestly surprised you haven’t reacted to more of seventeens dances. they’re a very performance based team and their youngest often releases ‘danceologys’ with his own choreo
the ripple effect from the very beginning with its volume and intensity is totally intentional as the theme and inspiration of the song comes from a fictional character in a classical Chinese fiction in the Qing dynasty -- Sun Wu Kong, a monkey who got to acquire a multitude of special abilities, one of which is cloning himself to bring out more energy and power to fend off his enemies. I believe seventeen is using this theme intentionally as they themselves are menifestations of how the many members in one group work together into one heartbeat to create a great impact. The existence of each and every one of them is indispensible :)))
Saw your Hoshi reaction just now so came back to watch this since I'm catching up on your channel. Love love LOVE the Vernon recognition, I noticed sometime last year that he's been increasingly in the center and I love it! His dancing is quite different from most of the others, he uses his shoulders in a unique way and the stiffness in his arms, hips, amd legs, even the way he kind of holds his head down a little, and these are all reflections of his personality along with his stage persona as a rapper. He's known for being a super chill member (specifically for 'vibin' in his own world) while simultaneously having an innate groove to the way he moves and talks (or screams while being attacked by a bug as the case may be 😊), and his dancing has so much personality but in an almost overly controlled way. Anyway, I love Vernon's dancing, and he's also my favorite rapper of the group and his lyrics are always really interesting and sometimes kind of mind bendy. So that's my Vernon ramble of the day lol, thanks for appreciating my special dude, he deserves it!
I honestly till one point thought we only praise the guys because they are our favourite but seeing other people praising them with no strings attached makes me really proud as a fan . We do love them but they're also totally deserving for that .
the Adidas jacket is Hoshi he's the performance unit's leader and Seventeen's choreographer too Sleeveless guy is Vernon he's the rapper in the group but he can dance very well. actually all seventeen members are great dancers!!
Adidas jacket is Hoshi, their performance leader, and sleeveless guy is Vernon, of the their hip hop team. They're both amazing and so fun to watch. Thanks for the reaction. It was interesting and insightful. I feel like I understand the dance better with the song, which is about Sonokong, the Monkey King. Maybe that's why it has a kind of fighter feel.
I am so glad you're watching Seventeen, but everything you said about it makes me wish you'd watch more of their dance practices! "Super" is pretty uncharacteristically intense for them. Unlike most K-pop groups, Seventeen absolutely knows how to groove and relax, and their choreographers give them lots of room to play and to sink into moves. My top recommendation for this would be "Ready to Love", but honestly most of their dance practices would qualify. Please watch more! (Also, thanks for figuring out that Hoshi is one of the best dancers in k-pop in, like, 30 seconds. Catching sight of him is how I got into this group.)
AHHH YOU’RE FINALLY REACTING TO SVT!!! 😭😭 Seventeen has 3 sub units: Vocal, Hiphop and Performance Hoshi (adidas jacket) is the performance unit leader, he also did choreos for svt. Vernon (sleeveless) is part of the hiphop unit, but predebut he was supposed to be part of the performance unit. I hope you could do a video dedicated to seventeens dance performances. 🥹 And I would highly recommend: rock with you, anyone, crush, call call call, clap, don’t wanna cry, thanks, _world, many more..

Right I've been waiting for SVT to be reacted to on here!
I’ve always admired Vernon’s dancing. His textures are so great when he dances.
As a Carat, I love that you chose this choreography to analyse , and of course teach through the reaction format
I think it was Choi Youngjoon who choreographed this or one of the choreographers...
💙💓
"Sleeveless guy" LETS GO VERNON!!! ❤ I've been a dancer my entire life & I was immediately captured by his movement quality when I first discovered Seventeen. He just has such a great balance of cleanliness & charisma onstage, I knew he was destined to be my bias! Absolutely loved seeing you breakdown their incredible choreography in this video, thank you!!
My personal favorites from SVT are Don't Wanna Cry & Fallin Flower if you want to check them out!😊
Hahha you right about HOSHI..he always dances like his rent is due..jokes apart he is VERY SINCERE about his work and NEVER slacks off ..if he is doing something is give his 500%
HOSHI is so AMAZING !!love him !!🔥🔥 Our TIGER~🐯🔥🔥
U don't have to worry carats won't come at u... We r very peaceful 😂
Oh my god, the sound effects and mimicking Hoshi around 5:10 made me laugh so hard, your reaction is so relatable 😂 Hoshi's parts always has my stank face vibrating like crazy, boys insane
Of course it’s my SVT bias Hoshi in that adidas jacket. He’s so clean even in practices.
Props to Choi YoungJun who choreographed this, he has been the choreographer of SVT since debut 👏👏
i REALLY liked the backup dancers here. they were PHENOMENAL
It's really amazing and satisfying seeing a professional dancer noticing without anybody giving a hint that Hoshi is the main dancer
Even when the camera is faaar away and their faces are barely seen, Hoshi's grit and passion still stands out 🎉 yes sir, the Adidas jacket guy
Second this!
Up!!!
HIT YES
idk what this channel has been doing if they've been reacting to kpop dances and this is the first time they've even touched seventeen. :\
YES YES YES
spider is a most
YES YES YES TO ALL OF THOSE
Absolutely!!
And HIT! That choreo goes crazyyyy!
The inspiration for the song and choreography are from DragonBall Z / Chinese Mythology, Monkey King. I think that’s why ripples were used a lot to refer to cloning. 🤔
Adidas Jacket is Hoshi! The main dancer! HAHAHAHA. Sleeveless Guy is Vernon, a rapper in their group. ❤
I hope you get to react to other dances of SEVENTEEN! ❤
his love for Hoshi is the cutest thing bc he's so right. Hoshi kicks ass with choreo
More SEVENTEEN please. They're the most in sync IMO!
LOVING THE HOSHI PRAISE LETS GOOOO
OKAY YOU HAVE TO REACT TO SEVENTEEN MORE OFTEN I AM BEGGING YOU STEEZY (ps keep up the amazing work!! adore your videos :) )
Hoshi, the guy in adidas jacket, is the leader of the performance unit for a reason ☺️ He always gives his all when it comes to performance ❤️❤️
Hoshi a.k.a the adidas jacket is the main dancer and leader of the performance unit so yeah hes amazing
Finally, a reaction/dance analysis for Seventeen dance practiceeee, I've been waiting for this and for additional info, their song was like referenced by like the monkey king and like dragon ball z😅
On the othe hand, the member, adidas jacket is Hoshi, and the sleeveless guy is Vernon.
P.S. There are some of seventeen choreographies that includes those like a breathing part choreo where they rest a little bit after dancing too hard and then dance againnn. Their choreos are always good😊
P.P.S. Kinda miss some dancers of steezy specially Bailey Sok and Sean Lew plus Josh Price and Julian de Guzman😅
To your PPS, we miss them too 😅. They're so busy now!! Booked and blessed ❤️. We do have a Dancers React with Julian DeGuzman coming out in a few weeks though!
carats are those type of fans who respect peoples opinions and aint toxic nor bashing idols this is why i love carats!
The way Clay's expressions corresponds to the dance movements thoooo we love it
I think once you understand what the song is about the whole fighting and power/energy thing makes sense 😂 even some of the choreo moves
SEVENTEEN now hold the records for the artists with the MOST PRE-ORDERED ALBUM🔥, Highest 1st day &1st week sales this century with over (4.7M+) . they're the best selling group globally last year too ❤
6:40 hwooomg hwooomg hwoooomg WOOOOM doong - as a dancer, I felt that
I’ve been telling ppl I love Vernon’s part, where he hangs his hands loose but it’s sorta controlled. I don’t know how to explain but I’m glad a professional dancer see it the same way ❤❤❤
YASS he pointed out hoshis energy in the post chorussssssss SO REAL FOR THAT
FINALLY SEVENTEEN ON STEEZY!!!!!
I'm a little too obsessed with this video. Can't help coming back to this everyday.
A quite fresh perspective on dancing ( just to me personally), esp in the way that he analysed the dance movements >
Adidas Jacket 😂 he noticed the main dancer right awayyy
SEVENTEEN is the most synchronized group in kpop
when it comes kpop+dance, you can't leave out SEVENTEEN
(there is another main dancer in SVT, who is DINO ( 2:34 ), he is an amazing dancer too)
and i hope u will react to more SEVENTEEN’s dance related contents❤
I watched the mv and some performances, but I just fully realised and digested the cloning bit at the end now 😅 and my mind is blown.
the adidas jacket guy knows how to show force and relax in his moves, kind of like knows how to show aggressive strength and how much. does someone get me?
Definitely! That's Hoshi, our lead dancer and leader of the performance team.
He knows his body very very well
@@astrid.nww33 ahh that's why he kept reminding me of jhope because of the body control
Hoshi!!!! Superb Dancer
4:36 I love how he is so happy w hoshis performance
rewatching this again, and put aside the way all the easy listening comments, he's so cute being all excited and seems so happy! please reacts to more seventeen dance practice, they got tons of it. maybe home run? don quiote? or hit? thank you and have fun!
Bro knows who's the main dancer just by seeing him dance.
True
Adidas jacket: Hoshi (performance team leader)
Sleeveless guy: Vernon (hip-hop team)
I'm so glad y'all finally reacted to Seventeen!! You definitely need to check out the rest of their choreography, they're known to be the most synchronized and best choreo in all of k-pop!! ❤️
Adidas Jacket = Hoshi (Part Of The Performance Unit)
He is also the leader of the Performance Unit and that make him also the main dancer of his group SEVENTEEN, and he would scold his members in a funny if they mess up the choreography or if they weren't in synchronization 😂😂, And for
Sleeveless Guy = Vernon (Part Of The Hip-Hop Unit)
He is a really good and amazing rapper with great dancing skills.
being carats plus hoshi stan (adidas jacket) and vernon stan (sleevles guy) i'm so glad you're doing a video about this amazing band!
HOSHIIII MAIN DANCER & COREOGRAPHER OF SVT
(JACKET GUY)
LEADER OF PERFORMANCE TEAM.
2 GUY (VERNOOOOON)
A SUCH GREATER DANCER HE SLAYED TOO
vernon getting recognized for his dance!!! yes FINALLY THE WORLD IS HEALING
7:25 when Clay mentioned the cloning thing, sth just clicked. 孙悟空 was known to make clones of himself (as per the song title)
The adidas jacket guy was Hoshi. Powerhouse of a dancer, you guys should do a reaction vid of him
I stan Seventeen the moment I saw their choreography video for Don't Wanna Cry.
Addias jacket is *Hoshi* the leader of dance choreographies and sleeveless is *Vernon* he's an amazing rapper.
Thank you for shouting out Hoshi, he really deserves to be recognized and Vernon as well!
the ripple effect from the very beginning with its volume and intensity is totally intentional as the theme and inspiration of the song comes from a fictional character in a classical Chinese fiction in the Qing dynasty -- Sun Wu Kong, a monkey who got to acquire a multitude of special abilities, one of which is cloning himself to bring out more energy and power to fend off his enemies. I believe seventeen is using this theme intentionally as they themselves are menifestations of how the many members in one group work together into one heartbeat to create a great impact. The existence of each and every one of them is indispensible :)))
Sleeveless guy is vernon, and adidas jacket is hoshi. We love seeing people praise their dancing fr !!
his facial reactions remind me of vernon when watching performances that he like
i … scrunch my face when i’m happy - Vernon
Vernon getting recognition dat makes happiest day of my life... Well done seventeen..
More videos on Seventeen .
How could one not notice our Hoshi the performance leader the ultimate dancer😭😭😭 soooooo proud of my bias ❤️❤️❤️❤️🐯🐯
Been obsessed with this MV for a while and learning the Journey To the West theming just blew my mind even more. One of my favorite choreos.
the Adidas jacket is Hoshi he's the performance unit's leader and Seventeen's choreographer too
Sleeveless guy is Vernon he's the rapper in the group but he can dance very well. actually all seventeen members are great dancers!!
Maybe that's why it has a kind of fighter feel.
feeling so proud of seventeen
The adidas guy is HOSHI (KWON SOONYOUNG) SEVENTEEN's Performance Team Leader and Main Dancer, while the one in sleeveless is VERNON (CHWE HANSOL)
AHHH YOU’RE FINALLY REACTING TO SVT!!! 😭😭
Seventeen has 3 sub units: Vocal, Hiphop and Performance
Hoshi (adidas jacket) is the performance unit leader, he also did choreos for svt.
Vernon (sleeveless) is part of the hiphop unit, but predebut he was supposed to be part of the performance unit.
I hope you could do a video dedicated to seventeens dance performances. 🥹
And I would highly recommend: rock with you, anyone, crush, call call call, clap, don’t wanna cry, thanks, _world, many more..
thank you for appreciating seventeen dance's choreography indeed it was amazing. and the Adidas jacket? he is crazy ... our horanghaeeee .....
