Dude.... Mr. Wells... Firstly, I really really like the song and it is produced superbly. Second, I just want to thank you and Waves for actually doing a truly deep overview of your plugin and really allowing us to hear the A/B results of pretty much every aspect of it. This kind of presentation is refreshing to see and I really want to thank for it.
I bought this today, and not one hour later I declared this the best plug-in I have ever bought! TRULY a game-changer. Its for when you have spent hundreds of hours baking the most beautiful cake, it tastes great... But THIS adds the cherry on top, the sprinkles and a few candles! Bravo Mr Wells, Thank you 👍🎶🇬🇧
For those wanting more info, this comes from Greg himself on Gearslutz: "A lot changes as that knob moves - ratios, thresholds, EQ bell curves, the way the two compressors react to each other, all kinds of madness...I'm a huge 1176 fan and also love the slower optical vibe of my RCA BA-6B. The two compressors in the VoiceCentric emulate that."
Love how clean the doubler is. Also, thank you for using a song that already sounds good as your sample. So many of these videos use terrible songs, it's so much easier to hear the plugin do its job when the song is already good.
Damn I loved watching this. Very well done video production: no rush, no hurry, no jump cuts, just the artist behind the plugin and its sound. The plugin sounds great by the way!
I've got this recording from a person who can't sing anymore and her voice is from over 15 years ago. I've been working very hard over the last month trying to get her voice to sound right. I decided to demo Greg Wells Voice Centric and Mix Centric. Oh my Gosh! I can't believe my ears! This plug-in pulled the muddiness it of the vocal track and replaced it with the warmth and presence that I was missing! The Mix Centric is also promising as it helped to move the mix around for her voice! Her voice stands out, sightly above the mix while keeping the instruments within reach while also allowing instruments to poke out of the mix when needed!
It's the vocal sound I have been searching for - ever since the studio in the 70's I worked at used echo plates mixed with real tape delay - this gets the sound like that which to me is the essence of a good vocal sound. Great value and so easy to use.
Oh wow, just bought this and have tried it on a session and I'm gob smacked. So subtle yet so totally changes the vibe. Like the man says, from a view finder to a film screen! Nice one Mr Wells.
Very subtle. Almost sounds like it's doing something you could do with sidechained fx (reverb/delay) minus all the discrete steps, like it's doing the work for you, VERY subtly. Love it. Five stars!
Wow. Like. I LOVE what the plugin is doing. Very nice. But also: What a wonderful performance to start with! Impressive. The recording part of it but also wow the singer. And with the plugin dialed in it blows my mind. Really great.
I can get the same results with this plug in, but I still want this because of the speed. Perfect for a mix house that churns out pro mixes left and right!
Nice plugin but as far as I can determine now it's a combination of several techniques I already use but with different plugins. The compression sounds like Parallel compression for which I mostly use SOLID with the vocal parallel preset. But the voiceCentric does a pretty decent job here. The effect you describe at 11:45 is psycho-acoustical and has to do with the HAAS effect which I often use to let the Leadvocal cut through a busy mix. When putting a single very small delay (highcut above 200Hz) about 15 to 25 mS behind the vocaltrack (in mono) your brain perceives the Vocal louder without increase in level. I often use this effect also to make things more 3D. Again.... Nice Plugin as far as I can hear for now
When he turned up that delay knob I knew exactly that this guy is definitely Adele and OneRepublic's producer (obviously, no doubt). I've heard that exact delay sound, frequency, timing, filter, everything, in acapella versions of Adele and One Republic's music.
Adele AND Katy Perry are both incredible vocalists. Of course, many song writers are involved, as those vocalists really only sing music that has already been written. Waves plugins seem easy to use and all sound awesome. What's your problem? Waves is not only making a lot of money, but are collaborating with great producers to develop awesome plugins, and for some reason you seem to hate that idea. Show us how you're producing music any differently, or hop off. I have mad respect for Waves, the producer, and the artists involved in this video.
@@AndrewRealeDrums His response is not antagonistic at all, he's just stating a fact. If someone is looking for that specific sound, like myself, his comment sells the plugin.
@@au5music hahah I feel like Andrew was replying to another comment in the thread that has been deleted. Otherwise, his aggression doesn't make much sense 💀
I think this singers emotional performance is far superior than any plugin money can buy! Maybe the plugin adds a little more sweet sauce..but its nothing you cant get from a clean recording & a decent delay/Verb combo..& doubler like microshift..
Cut out the bullshit. Jump straight to 8:35 to actually start hearing the settings of the plugin on it's own. This tip was brough to you by the AWBL - (The Anti Waffle Bullshit League). - AWBL - Keeping the Internet Waffle Free.
Love it, the track, and..the artist. She sounds fantastic! I did buy this with the N.I. Waves plug in bundle. Sounds 100% pro in this demo, can't wait to use it on my stuff.
I bought this right after watching your video. I have some female vocals that I'm working on that have very similiar qualities to those of the artist in your demonstration. I'm really excited to see how it comes out!
+Richard Brunelle it really is that . Redundant stuff with different graphics and slight variations on the same theme . I think Waves should sell a 19in. X 5 ft , Simulated Rack Monitor , you could put it against the wall , have several of them. Clients could just point at the graphic they like so they could feel like they're at a studio worth millions of $$$. Man, having something like that , I would constantly be reminded of all the plugins I've purchased but never use .
Rick Salt it's just a time saver I am sure you could rebuild it with 4 or 5 plugins, introducing latency and chewing up processing power but with more tweakability. it really depends on your workflow. I like the simplicity and time saving aspect of it. you would have to duck the reverb and EQ it if you only had a stock reverb. you might have to think more about production choice or just use the aspects you like (I quite like the low mud saturation) and then use additional plugins to refine or change aspects.
I've been using mixcentric for a while now but I was so used to mixing vocals the same since I liked it and was used to it.So tonight I took a stab at using this plugin and it added a nice brightness but not too high end where it needed alot more compression.I still have to play with it but I'm definitely feeling the sound. 👍👍
One of the nice things of this plugin is that it doesn't shave off clarity of the original track. It's obviously not for every vocal track one runs across. The delay is nice, the doubler is useful, (the reverb I have not used) but as always, it serves the track or it doesn't. Cranked up high, it compresses the snot out of the track nicely, but if that's the kind of sound, it works great and fast. Apart from this (and from the fact that it's great to know how gear works), it's nice to have versions and combinations of sounds great recording and mixing pros can put their name on in plugin form. The ToneCentric and MixCentric are godsends for quick mixes, though not only for quick mixes. I can't comment on the PianoCentric, I haven't used it.
I still don't have it and not touched it yet ... But as i can suppose from here, it is very, very vocalic, allowing to make some important detailed changes during the mixing process and fast sonic correlations. Totally put into the mix, making all needed to prepare every voice. Easy to use focused entirely onto the musical purpose and results. Could be very nice, if there are a few possibilities setting the main parameters for delay, doubler and reverb additionally. Overall, great tool by oppinion of mine. Thanks!
Fun to watch but like nectar I don’t …wouldn’t want to use my delays on a track without side chaining…..thus the question is why with so much information are plugins like an all in one on the vocal track holding up in with that information and opinion that says to shift that part of production to aux or send tracks?
It sounds good but what exactly is plugin doing to the vocal sonically?? Neither the site or this demo explains what exactly is the plugin is doing to "enhance" the vocal. Other than that I actually like it.
+Cedric Stansbury looks like an all in one vocal chain suite... basically when you record vocals, there are 2-3 elements involved: Pre compression/limiting (depends on how you like to do it)/limiting, reverb/tape echo(adds presence to your vocal), and post compression (to control the loudness and smaller volume levels).. This does it all without the need of several plugin.
+EastWest Beats EQ? That's wrong. Because an EQ should be tweaked accordingly so it suits a particular vocal. There's no "one setting that suits every vocal" when it comes about EQ. That's because there's thin singing artists, low-singing artists, different timbre, different key, etc. Next time when you wanna sound professional, make sure you avoid such a rookie mistakes. I'm sure that big companies like Waves already know that too so they wouldn't mention "EQ" into a "one-knob" type of plugin.
+Cedric Stansbury From the man himself... "A lot changes as that knob moves - ratios, thresholds, EQ bell curves, the way the two compressors react to each other, all kinds of madness." And... "I'm a huge 1176 fan and also love the slower optical vibe of my RCA BA-6B. The two compressors in the VoiceCentric emulate that."
What I find makes me think with this is about the great variations in microphones. I wonder what microphone this singer was singing through. Some mics add the top end eq as part of their sound so they are made to sit in a mix without eq so you wouldn’t want to add more, others are more flat. What mic? ....it was high end most likely but what was it...? Thanks for a great plug in.
Hugh Jones yes I wasn't suggesting that the plug in sounded good because of a good microphone, I was wondering what mic he used while deciding on the settings just out of curiosity really. It'll be amazing regardless
