    A young boy with actual talent...Jeez why can't we have this nowadays. He's better than many artists young and old Now, at the age of fifteen!

      If we went back to this then we would see black people singing our music instead of Asians and whites pretending to sing like us.

    No lip-synch here. Frankie was the real deal, just pure and raw talent. So what if his voice had changed? All he needed was a new record with his adult voice. He didn't have to die so young. So sad.

    • @HypnoticHollywood
      @HypnoticHollywood 9 років тому +25

      ***** He also had a great voice as an adult, check out his song 'Sea Breeze'.

    • @Greyareas27
      @Greyareas27 8 років тому +6

      Lip-synch did not become the norm on TV because some artists may or may not have been "true" talents. It was done because it was cheaper to produce the show that way and also because fans wanted it to sound like the record they had at home.

    • @lozleo
      @lozleo 8 років тому +4

      My comment was obviously aimed at today's "artists" who lip-sync even in so called "live" concerts. Happens quite often.

    • @Greyareas27
      @Greyareas27 8 років тому +2

      ***** I accept your comment and agree with you. Except for the word, "obviously". You know exactly what you were referring to. It's not necessarily "obvious" to everyone else.

    • @lozleo
      @lozleo 8 років тому +2

      Not necessarily everyone else, but if you're also talking about lip-sync and the reasons for it in 2016, it should have been obvious.

      ccleroy1234 Raw, bone-fide and certified but probably a victim of "handlers"yoy50.wordpress.com/2011/11/28/lindsay-lohan-lady-gaga-mind-controlled-on-camera/ (just based on his demise). But yeah-- Frankie was Michael (J) before. And he WAS SMOOOOTTTHHH with it! :) What was he?? Fifteen at the time?!!!! Don't make um like that anymore FO SHO! :)

    • @ccleroy1234
      @ccleroy1234 9 років тому +3

      jammingalways lol...well MJ came into the world in 58.......Frankie always reminded me of a young Jackie Wilson....great stage presence and dance moves and a powerful tenor! We had a lot of talent from the 30's even up to now...many legacy's in American music but like you express, every now and then someone comes along that is just special and authentically themselves and Mr. Lymon is definitely in that class so I feel you. He is incomparable. You hear that voice and you know it's him. Nah, they don't make them like they used to......

    • @jammingalways
      @jammingalways 9 років тому +1

      ccleroy1234 Aweee.... Jackie Wilson... you taking me back! :) It really is something how the industry can take such talents and rip them apart. It's also difficult for me to find a comparison from yester-year to today's "acts" though. Can't think of anyone with such showmanship (but then again-- I stopped listening to radio/music back in 2001). :)

    • @ccleroy1234
      @ccleroy1234 9 років тому +2

      jammingalways same here!!! You are right...there is no comparison to the days of yester year which is incredibly sad but thank goodness what we have will never die....good music stands the test of time.....listening to Nina Simone right now as we speak....I adore her....

    He was a BRILLIANT showman, who was Destroyed by corporate GREED; he would have Survived, if he had found a Good Lawyer BEFORE the record companies kicked him to the curb.

    • @rjn8001
      @rjn8001 8 років тому +16

      +Nathan “Reetin” Spruth Although, you are 100% correct, it begs to establish the context. Show business in those days, as now, was viciously cutthroat. He wasn't more than 13 years old when he achieved super stardom, being taken advantage of from the start. We gotta acknowledge that the kid was given no guidance by these producers, agents, and executives who only looked at him in terms of dollar signs. You put a kid on the stage, give him lots of money, and lots of women, unless he's a freak of nature (which he almost was) it's gonna go straight to his head. Although the responsibility still lies with him since he chose to use the shit, it's not as if there weren't plenty of outside factors that led to him messing with junk and eventually losing his life.

    We were kids when we first heard Frankie. NYC was in love with this voice and talent. Tried to get to every performance and what a performer he was. The movie sucked beyond belief. It highlighted 3 women with issues instead of the tremendous talent of Frankie Lymon. He succumbed to drugs like sooooo many others did. Some survived many did not. But his music and the joy he gave to generations is what he will always be remembered for. RIP Frankie, thanks for the music.

    So true Mr. Sherman Butler! I agree about ppl making Gods out of these great talents and they truly get caught into the hype! Sad! And yes, it's hard looking at this after the movie. He was soo young!! That's even more sadd! Michael Jackson was great but we must admit, ppl like Frankie Lymon paved the road for many young black singers today! It may not have been no Mike without Frankie. 13! Back in those days? Talent!! All I can say. Who knows where his career would've been if he'd lived without the drugs in his career. I agree that Bruno Mars carriers much of that Frankie Lymonesque! :-)
