AMBUSH SHOOTING: Tow truck driver ambushed while on the job; family wants justice

- Family and co-workers are demanding justice after a tow truck driver was ambushed while at work in Chester, Pennsylvania.
It happened around midnight Tuesday while 38-year-old Jamie King was working for International Recovery Systems.
In surveillance video obtained by Action News, you can see the alleged gunman pull, get out of a vehicle and open fire.
King was shot multiple times and remains in critical condition.
His wife, Nicole King, says he was shot in the stomach, chest and head.
"There is a bullet in his brain, it caused a lot of swelling, and they had to remove most of his skull on the right side of his head," she said.

What I don't understand, is why send a repo, when they can just activate the starter cut off system, once the vehicle is parked, won't start, and obviously the person will abandon the vehicle, unless he's living in it... a disabled vehicle is way easier to get they'll get whatever loot they're carrying out of the vehicle and take off , but trying to repossess a vehicle with armed ppl inside, and likely carrying drugs or drug money or both, not gonna happen..
This type of jobs should be handled differently , real law enforcement should be present at the time of a repossession

While I am sad a man lost his life, I am also of the opinion that tow truck driver is arguably the scummiest profession. They literally have the power to steal people's cars and demand money for their return. Accidently park in the wrong spot? Bam! 300 bucks. Accidentally forget to display your parking pass? Bam! 300 bucks. I've heard stories of people having their cars repossessed (without any sort of due process, of course) and when they get them back they are damaged or have things missing. Unless you are getting roadside assistance, every encounter with a tow guy is a bad one.

Sounds like the suspect had his car impounded previously and went looking to get revenge on the tow driver...and succeeded.
Towing is a dangerous job. People can get REALLY pissed off when you take their ride.

This is horrible. I'm the the automotive business and I've never seen a humble kind tow truck driver. I heard he was a hard worker which means taking a lot of people's cars in the middle of the night. These people have no regard for life I wouldn't be a repo man if it were the last job on earth I'd just live off the land.

I had two repossessions in my life before and it's not the end of the world! Its just a car! I remember being so afraid of when the repo man would come and get my vehicle, but honestly I didn't want to live with that fear. It was like a breath of fresh air once they had finally come and picked it up! People are prone to feel afraid of repo men and women, however they have a job to do. If you know that you haven't been paying your car note or simply can't pay it for whatever reason, let them pick up the vehicle! It's OK! You'll feel much better and pray about it! Tow trucks is a predatory business, not exactly productive. They collect $ from middle, lower class and split it with the city and state governments. They don’t produce, their like errand boys sent by grocery clerks to collect a bill.

The guy who towed and damaged my car deserves it. He was summoned by my insurance company's roadside assistance program. (State Farm informed me that they wouldn't pay to have my car fixed because I only had liability on the vehicle. Again, this was after their contractor damaged my car when I was using the roadside assistance that I paid State Farm for as part of my premium.)

Keys still in ignition and I seen the tow truck driver to where when I went around corner he took my car. I was lliterally gone for 3 mins. Wasn't handicap. They just had parking permits. I called the tow people and they didn't have the car in system for 2 more hours. I talked to boss man and he gave me my car back because I threatened to sue. This is the toughest job out there, you are dealing with angry drivers who probably don't have the funds to get their car back to go to work or take their kids to school. Tow truck drivers get the brunt of the heat. I hope he pulls through.
