    crazy coincidence as I'm designing and building something just like this! My design is leaving a lot more room for the hydraulic power packs and batteries in the center but this animation give me hope I can achieve my goal of making a creepy robotic thing

    It took me till the ball scooping to realize it wasn't real lol. Great graphics and nice design.
    You should make this into a pc video game for robot wars :D control pc robots with your phone by tilting and such!

    Did you use inverse kinematics for the positioning of the legs of the hexcavator when mimicking phone movements with the body? Also, how did you program the sort of natural mechanical jerk every time a piston starts?

    • @Phymec
      @Phymec  9 років тому +11

      Tetrachromia Mechanical jerk and vibrations are natural physical reactions due to inertia and relative masses. Hexapod is entirely dynamic, only hydraulic cylinders are pumped, but yes, the phone drives an IK proxy that the hydraulic cylinders use as a guide.

    Hi, this looks great! Can you please shed some light how exactly it was made?
    I'm willing to explore Blender capabilities in the robotic simulations area. Controlling the 3d objects remotely seems no problem, but not inside running physics simulation.
    Could you please tell what APIs did you use? Or was it not Blender, but a Blender Game Engine?

    ? question i wnt to ask u as this hexapod is designed in blender one thing if it is in the practical perspective view how u r operating that main hyraulic actuators ???????? using pump or motor nd i wnt to knw if in case u r using the pump then how u r operating a three cylinders at a time although its a design nly ........... but in practical world how v r going to do this ?

    Ten year ago I told people I wanted to do this with my SPIDEE-1 robot. Problem? Used backhoe arms would cost $$$$$ and most of the companies (like CAT) wouldn't even talk to me. Maybe I should run a Kickstarter and see if anyone wants it to happen.
