Dawn of the Dead 1978 and Food of the Gods were two midnight movies I saw at the drive-in. Also, you can't forget RHPS and Little Shop of Horrors I saw those in the theater.
The Blob remake and Chopping Mall would be great additions to this.

I spin this one every couple of years...saw it in college the first time around. Favorite line: "Pick up a tool and start banging!"

I am a huge practical effects lover myself. I think that is movie magic. CGI is boring. Give me an old school monster, stop-motion or hand puppet, even full monster costume. The imagination and skills that go into making these effects, the love and attention to detail, it's just amazing. Also on the directors part, back when you really had to think and was limited by the practical effects. It forced directors to be inventive. I'm not saying it's easy to be a director today, it's still hard to make everything work, but there was a different kind of magic to it back then.
I completely agree!!! I want all of the practical effects I can get! And I think the problem solving that drives creativity when you have only practical effects and you don't have endless money has hurt films and directors today....being an indie filmmaker with low budgets, we have to get creative so we learn and love the old ways...but studios hire directors who will just be happy to use money and CGI to "fix it in post"
Just wait until next week when we dive into Videodrome in this series...talk about practical FX!!!! It has amazing FX!

I'll make sure to give Daphne a more unobstructed view hahahaha! There are a couple of incredible DVD sets out of the UK on the ILSA trilogy that include She Wolf of the SS BUT it costs as much to import them as buying them....Im shocked VS hasnt gotten those 3 films and released them
