From Season 2, Episode 6 "Bali Ha'i"
Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in the world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

Mike must have a duffel bag full of guns that he's retrieved from his opponents...
"I dont need a gun....if i do, I'll just take his." (One of the best Mike lines ever.)
Not necessarily. "Pimento" shows he doesn't particularly care to keep them. I suspect he's got a few, but many of them probably end up at the county dump.
He's not keeping them because if some of those guns have been used to commit crimes they could be traced back to him.
Excellent point...
@@JustRememberWhoYoureWorkingFor
ngl him slapping the shit out of them is hilarious. he doesnt even sound mad, just disappointed, all while theyre clearly scared shitless.
Got a " I don't feel like cleaning up blood or moving bodies" vibe
All while being just mildly annoyed that they'd attempt to pull a stunt like that.
Some people call that a pistol whip
The role of a lifetime for Banks.
It’s moments like these that make you wish Mike took the “Full Measure” and just killed Walt.
He was going to but Walt had Jessie kill Gale so he couldn't. I guess after Gus died, Mike could've but I guess he didn't want to because he definitely could've if he wanted to
@@David-gj9qr Right !! Say it two times for emphasis
@@vincentrobinson3078 He could have said it three times for even more emphasis and even more emphasis!
They need to make a do-over and Mike can finish Walt once and forever.
I just can’t fathom why people like Walter White so much. From the very beginning I hated the character and wished he would get what he deserved. When he did what he did to Mike. I was so fkn pissed off and wished with all my heart they wrote it differently and had Mike kill Walter.
Billy mays here, do you have gunman hiding in your house?
RIP Billy Mays, protecting me from gunmen since day 1
Mike is not fancy.. Old school, dependable, rock solid. It doesn't get any better than that.
Can't believed they did him dirty by dying to Walter fucking White
You mean *HEISENBERG* of course.😎
Walt was unpredictable, which is what made him so dangerous.
@@Durwood71 Mike knew Walt was a narcissist but he misjudged just how vain he really was and how much he was lead on by his impulses and emotions when it came to his ego.
Mike's ending kinda stained the show...... Jmo BCS is a better series from start to end than BB.......
It wasn't Mike that Walt killed, it was the android version of himself that he built from some balloons and toy pigs cos he knew Walt would try to kill him.
I just noticed another moment in Better Call Saul that can be compared to a Breaking Bad episode. In BCS S04E04 Nacho's dad calls 911 and Nacho convinces him to hang up. In BB, Jane's dad calls 911 to report her drug use. She convinces him to hang up. Both characters end up the same sadly and both fathers are left grief stricken.
Now that's the power of Billy Mays!
Mike reminds me of my uncle. tough old bastard, he fought the Chinese as a Marine in the Korean War. He only told me about the war one time. Waves of Chinese pouring over the mountain. his platoon (or whatever it was) ran out of ammunition, it was down to hand to hand combat. His words were they were stacking their buddies dead bodies like logs. He didn't know how he survived when so many others didn't. he went on to live a long happy life but you could tell that he was nobody to f with. even when he was old. whenever I see this actor I think of him, looks, demeanor, everything. RIP Uncle John.
This is one of my favorite UA-cam comments. Seriously it’s so goated. Thanks so much for sharing.
Why do you always cut off important parts of your clips?
You should’ve showed him checking the the doormat and door knob part.
“Hi Billy Mays here to show you the best way to distract bad guys and get the drop on them guaranteed!”
Then mikes like “but wait, there’s more!”
Mike and Ed the disappearer never sharing a scene together breaks my heart
Mike didn’t outsmart them, they were just interested in the Gourmet Quick Chop
I watched this scene and I thought... that's a really nice roll of kitchen towel. You know, I always go for the smaller rolls but then you just can't beat those jumbo sizes, they really soak everything up and give that extra comfort. Well done Mike.
I've always liked the fan theory that Mike has an extensive background in the armed forces. Ideas range from a sniper in Vietnam to, "wetter" and more specialized ops in Latin America. You can definitely see a lot of it in his cognitive orientation, constant OODA loop.
It's implied Mike was a Marine scout sniper in Vietnam, especially given his knowledge of the M40 (he says he has experience with the gun after Lawson remarks "the same rifle used by Marine snipers since 1966", and then cites primary problems with the original design, stating "Somebody probably should have figured that out before they sent it into a damn jungle"); he was definitely a former police officer.
😅😊 por persona op😊😊😊😊 o de 😊😊ppp😊poññp😊

😊
I've never really got fan theories that are essentially stated by context. He was definitely in Vietnam, the subtle writing isn't there to make you think "oh, perhaps he was in Vietnam? who knows"
cleaning the gun with his back to an open window at the end doesn't seem very safe.
Yeah, i think that was done intentionally, to keep you guessing when something is about to happen - and here it doesn't- so the show keeps you on your toes. You weren't the only one to notice the window in the shot, and most assumed that they must have shown him cleaning his gun here because it was about to lead to something more. No way that was an accident.
You'd think so, but really even the cartel understands game theory. Mike had every right to kill those two guys but he deliberately spared them out of respect for unwritten rules in, "The Game." If he showed them that much mercy and they turned around and executed him like that, they'd risk tainting their, "honor" as organized criminals. Mike understands this well enough that he knows they understand what's at stake. Not to mention killing a former cop would bring the Salamancas the kind of heat they don't want, which also dictated a lot of their strategy here.
Some other things I noticed...first Mike opens the closet door, then closes it, then moves towards the...'pantry'? The two guys are hiding in the room behind the door to the left of the closet. They would have heard him opening and closing the door, then moving to the right, away from the closet. So at the very least, they would have known he was in the house before Mike turned on the TV.
Also, as Mike moves towards the pantry door frame, you can clearly see his reflection in the window. Anyone hiding in the pantry would have seen his reflection before he entered the room. But Mike moves past the door to his left, barely glancing at it, enters the pantry incautiously, looks to his right. He could have been shot by someone hiding to the left of the pantry doorway.
Then he turns on the TV...but doesn't turn on the room light? Who comes home and turns on the TV before turning on the room light? You need the room light to find the remote. The two guys would have seen the room light shining/not shining at the bottom of the door they were hiding behind.
He has been in numerous situations like this and can tell when there is additional danger or not
@@waynehall3890 um, he obviously found the remote without the room light. That part of the reasoning is flawed.
That Gourmet Kwik-Chop is a fine product.

3:33 “Welp, its a living.”
It was scenes such as the washing of the blood of his hands with the white tissue role, which we have all done due to minor cuts when trying to fix something, that all other TV series and films never include. His obvious exasperation and not anger, fear or murderous intent at being sent these two guys - that made Breaking Bad especially with scenes of Mike showing how good he was at violence - such a marvellous TV series that sadly we have and I don't think we will ever see again.
you edited the part where he put a marking sheet under the door mat
This is the moment Billy Mayes saves Mike…
It was funny how serious Mike was telling the guy to get down.

Billy Mays here, do you have gunmen hiding in your bedroom?
And this is why you always need to have a spare remote.
You had to cut the 10 seconds at the start where he looks under the mat to know that two guys are inside?

Michael Slovis, the cinematographer on Breaking Bad, directed this episode. That's why to me this scene feels like it's straight out of Breaking Bad.

Mike was Fucking BADASS!!!!!
Like an old Batman.
I feel like a sig 226 is a little too flashy for mike. I think he would be a simple Glock guy or maybe 1911.
Mike isn't personally attached to his equipment. Remember, he bought his sniper rifle from a discreet, private dealer, at a meeting in a remote location, & likely his handguns too, probably to ensure they're untraceable to him. He regards them as mere tools, to do the job when needed, & generally disposable when necessary. Expert killers are no more attached to their guns than a doctor to a scalpel, it's just a means to complete the task.
@@grantgarrod2232 Yeah, that's what I mean. He would probably by glocks 5-10 at a time. A nickel finish Sig is something a detective would have to show off to his buddies - not what Mike would go for.
@@atomicsmith, I agree completely. I'm thinking it was in the scene to better show off the blood, which wouldn't stand out very well against a darker finish.
@@atomicsmith He was a detective before he started working for Gus and this was his personal home that was broken into. I think it's fair to assume that is his personal firearm and not some throw away piece. Mike is to cautious to bring a firearm that would be used for a crime into his own home or even near it. If he had used an untraceable glock and was forced to kill those men even if it was self defense there would be questions about why he had a firearm that wasn't traceable. Mike has thrived in this world because of how cautious he is and Gus wouldn't have brought him into his team if he was reckless. The writing in the show is good enough that the writers shouldn't have to explain it to you. You should rewatch the show, because Mike is one of the best characters in both shows and is worth paying more attention to.
The fact that it's not the obvious gun you'd expect him to use makes it the perfect gun for him.
Why does Mike's front door have a chain latch with no catch on it?
This Is a moment
Hammers not cocked, Mike.
It's a SigSauer, a double action pistol.

I've had scores of TVs in my life and I've never seen one that's instant-on. they all take seconds to connect and find the signal.
The old ones did. (Pre-digital)
@@yestfmf
Yep, and Mike seems like sorta guy who would still have a CRT back then, long as it kept working.
The generation of sets made from roughly 1978 to 2000 did this. Analog sets could get the signal instantly, but vacuum tubes took time to heat the filaments of the tubes. This was even true of solid-state sets because when all else is solid state, a CRT is also a vacuum tube with a heater. But in the mid (high-end) to late (low-end) 1970's manufacturers started leaving the filaments energized all the time, so the set could come on instantly. This would do exactly what is seen in the scene; the set would energize, acquire the signal within a frame or two, and be ready to watch in a fraction of a second.
This is the moment Crime City uploaded a video
You’re GODDAMN right 😎🎩
One of the moments of all time
The sink actually works a lot better when you just use soap as well as sticking the item you wish to clean directly into the stream of water.
Americans and their fascination with wiping instead of cleaning
I think it’s meant to emphasize mikes nervousness, at the very end we see his hands shaking. He probably wasn’t thinking 110% clearly after beating the shit out of two dudes, it would be extremely boring if Mike did everything perfectly after that. Dude is a machine but he’s also entirely human and it’d be a mistake to not depict a rare moment of nervousness for Mike.
This is the moment where Mike outsmarts intruders. Truly one of the moments. Vravo Bince!

it doesn't -- you want doors to open out so in case of a fire you an push the door and get out -- you don't want to have to pull the door into the room

Yep, my bad, I was skipping through it. Thanks.
I see two things I'd really like to understand here.
1 - there is a door chain on the door frame but no track for it on the door. Why?
2 - Mike took a handfull of paper towels and wet them to clean his hands of blood, why didn't he just wash his hands?
To answer 1 - the door was probably replaced at some point and they didn't replace it with one with a chain attachment point and didn't bother to remove the chain either.
Maybe if you watched properly you wouldn't need to ask dumb questions. He first used the paper towel to wipe the the blood from the gun. Then he used it like you would use a flannel, to wipe the blood from his hand. Why is that so difficult to understand? And who says that's a door chain, it didn't swing or even move like a chain would. Why not just enjoy shows and stop trying to find fault like some amateur sleuth?
@@CB-xr1eg haha you funny! Tell me, do you ever wash your hands? Or do you maybe just wipe them dry with a towel after a toilet for example? I'm not judging you or Mike, I just think it is much more easy, healthy and comfortable to wash your hands first and dry them second. You should give it a try, maybe you'll like it!
Anyways, I was interested why Mike didn't wash his bloody hands instead of using paper towels. Was it because of some trauma or habit or some kind of his old man survivor tactics after uninvited guests to his home? So you should chill a bit, breath in, count to three, breath out.
And as for the door chain - it is a door chain. If you had ever seen one, you'd see that it is a door chain. If you hadn't ever seen a door chain, just google "door chain" and look what a door chain is and how it works, and why does it not swing or move whilr it does not swing or move. This will be usefull for your common knowledge horizons, believe me.
The guy just asked a couple of questions. I only have one question. Why are you such a dick?

This time Uncle Fester did need a gun.
Is Mike starting to develop palsy here? That would be depressing.
Just agitated from the encounter, he isn't used to his house being broken into
No, just adrenalin shakes. After an aggressive confrontation you'll get this: rapid heart rate, tunnel vision, shakes, perhaps nausea, might be elation and laughter or tears. It's rarely depicted at all in stories. It does diminish with experience but will always be present, that's one cause of PTSD.

Dude comes out from the street, gets blood on his hands, doesn't use soap to wash hands, is he stupid?

Mike doesn’t handle a pistol very well. Notice the teacup grip and not ready when he entered the room. Muzzle high, not ready for anything to happen when he enters the room. He did have his index finger alongside the frame.
About the teacup I also always thought about that. But then thinking more I realized hank for example or victor and many others hold a standard grip on pistols, mike is the only one doing an old fashioned teacup so maybe it was intentional, as in, hes a former cop now a senior citizen.

Good thing he didn’t have to shoot anyone. The hammer was uncocked the whole time.
It's a DA/SA with a decocker. It will fire if he pulls the trigger.
How does he expect to shoot those guys when his gun isn't cocked? Later it's cocked when it's in the sink. Guess the director doesn't know how a gun works.
Are you sure it wasn't a double action?
