Thanks, I though we would be doing more camping around Banff, but we ended up doing like over 30 day straight (we sleep 3 night in camping) everything else was in the SUV. Even one night we could of setup the tent (we had a bike tour tent easy to install...), and the kids were like... nah we will sleeping the car its better lol. Btw we are building a newer version! I guess I'm crazy :D. We will have a bathroom, table, drawers, and we should be maybe 3 inch lower.
Ooo I can't help but think of all those wood splinters with raw wood, especially with kids, the weight and all that faff, I'd use a tent just 4 sleeping all in pop up saves all that time
@@christinewood8331 a tent for 4 of us would definitely works. That being said, we are the kind of people that doesn't book stuff in advance. We prefer freedom, and go as we feel / find stuff on our route... We try to find Public Land (BLM) (Free camp sites), while being respectfull of the environment. For us setting up the 'bed' takes less than 5 minutes, and same to undo the bed. Having a tent would take way more time. Plus we 'stealth' slept in various area (New York, North Vancouver, ...) where a tent would be hard to setup. But definitely, we do bring a tent in the cargo box, and use it if we find a campground with available sites.
Thank you, stay tuned for our next version . I'm still thinking about it, but i believe we should be able to be a few inch lower, and also being able to cook and have a sink indoor...... not sure if i can pull that off but i think i can 😸 (anyone that is not subscribed, subscribe to get the notification.)
Thank you, ideally it gives idea to other people. It is a small space, but it worked for us on a low budget travelling and giving nice memories for the kids hopefully!
Hello, luckily we did not need one. Looks like the cat never did anything inside so far... That being said, on our next version i'll find a place for it. Even though we would stop often for the cat, it would be better for his health i'm sure.
Agreed thanks for the input. We will definitely look at roof tent at some point. Note we also have tent and inflatable mattress, Our initial idea was to do a lot of camping with the tent + 2 person in the SUV. But being able to sleep indoor, if we do not find camping area (ex: in Banff we had no pre-booking made). That being said, the kids and us preferred to sleep indoor as it was easier to setup, and we had enough room. I understand it might not work for everyone though. As for the roof tent, we like the fact that it can be stealthy(ish) and we preferred to use a cargo box at the top to bring stuff, to make the indoor more spacious while driving even though if it was packed. In the end, it worked for us and for sure if we continue travelling this kind of way we would need more space as the kids are getting older :D
Indeed! Thanks for the great idea. We could add a soft material similar as what is on a cat tree/condo's on that wood. It would make it softer and better looking, plus should be more confortable for the cat. Will definitely get my daughter finding something for that. Awesome idea! thanks.
Impressive! I wouldn't be able to sleep though, too cramped. I need to move a lot 😅 how many straight nights did you spend like this?

Do u have a litter box for the cat

Buy a roof tent in front of a car.
I think that this is much too narrow for four people.
Or buy a trailer and make a place to sleep in the trailer.

Give your kitty something soft to lay on.!!!!
