Terrible take lol. Brandon Miller isn't even the Hornets 2nd best player that's like Mark Williams. Lamelo one of the worst #1s (barely top 60) and whoever their number is one the worst number 2s (Brandon Miller is barely top 150, rookies like Amen, Jaime, and Podz all better in addition to the obvious top 3 of Wemby, Chet, Lively). I still see talent on the nuggets. I just don’t know that they have the bench depth to be top 4 over 82 games. They also have the same central core for a long time now I think they are more likely to turn it up once the playoffs start. Whereas the thunder, mavs and timberwolves are still trying to prove themselves. Don’t forget Memphis is going to try to prove doubters wrong too. That’s without even mentioning the suns turning it up this year potentially

My Hot Take: Zach Edey will be ROTY. Edey should be the perfect fit for the Grizzlies and he’s going to be a problem for most of the league due to the smaller bigs with the exception of Joel Embiid, Wemby, Chet. Even Jokic is 6’10 or 6’11 while Edey is 7’4 and 300 lbs. That will give problems in the post for most centers.
I wish Memphis would invest in the Brandon Ingram deal. Morant, Bane, Ingram, Jaren, Edey Would be a solid 5 lineup, but they would probably sacrifice their bench for a star caliber player.
Would be a very fun lineup! But as you mentioned, they would sacrifice too much of their bench, which is very good atm. I don’t think the reward is worth the risk. I do get your point tho, would be a sick starting 5.
@@serbow I do think when healthy the grizzlies are already a top 3 seed, might drop to a top 5 due to more teams getting better, but former teams falling off, but if they’re not where they want to be, I do think Ingram would compliment their style very well. They have an attack heavy guard, a nice shooting threat with Bane, Jackson can do a little of everything, then Edey is a straight masher. Add a guy like Ingram who can create a bucket like a Middleton style way and it’s a recipe for success similar to the Bucks, but slightly different.
Spurs fan here. The main reasons why the Spurs had a terrible team defense really came down to 3 things: 1. Devin Vassell is a great defender, but he had some lapses last year as a result of a bigger offensive role, having to chuck tough middies like Kobe. 2: Malaki Branham is a historically bad defender and played big minutes last year, getting blown by and bullied on that end of the floor constantly. 3. The Spurs had the 4th most turnovers per game in 15.1 due to the lack of a true, reliable point guard on the floor at all times, and those turnovers lead to easy offense. All in all though, Chris Paul will help with the turnover issue and will slightly lighten Vassell's offensive load, as he will be able to take more assisted catch and shoot 3s than last year. Paul also helps with the turnover issues, and the addition of Stephon Castle means that Branham may not even crack the rotation next year, meaning many of the Spurs' weaknesses defensively will be fixed.
Forgot to mention that we still had Doug McDermott for half of the year as well. Doug and Malaki were both bottom 10 in the ENTIRE LEAGUE at defense last year. Our defense got much better post All Star break. Here's hoping we're more consistent on that end this year 🤞
Yeah, it was so gut wrenching seeing Wemby getting subbed out very early only for guys like Branham, Collins, Osman, and Mcdermott get scored on so easily. Those guys were literally among the worst defenders in the league last season so the less we see them on the floor, the better.
If San Antonio didn't do the Sochan experiment, they definitely would have won 10-15 more games. Once they changed that, Spurs were beating big name teams like Dallas, Wolves and Nuggets.

I don't really think they need big jumps, they lost a ton of close games last year and left like 15 wins purely cus they're really young and have barely played together.
