- Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoyed these clips of early CSX, when Chessie units matched the fall color nicely. Video clips are n both east and west slope of the mountain, climbing to the summit of the Allegheny Mountains at Sand Patch, PA. Video was shot in October 1990.
An added surprise at the end, with a special OCS showing up.

Those old Chessie colors go beautifully with the fall colors. It's such a shame that color scheme isn't used anymore. Would take it over the rather boring CSX colors any day! Thanks for sharing.

I'm always struck by the lack of graffiti on the railcars of that era compared to now. Something I need to consider when I model different time periods - videos such as this are very helpful!
I always loved the old Chessie locos with the fallen flag initials on cab.

Thx Jack. Isn't that the same line that goes through the Hog Pen? October 1990 was the month my dad died. Long time ago now.
Yes Bob, passes me at the Hog Pen, and the east bounds hit Sand Patch about 2, 2-1/2 hours later. Time does fly Bob. Lost my mom 25 years ago. Long time as well, but still feels like yesterday. My dad is still alive, God Bless him. He turned 97 back in July. Still sharp as a tack, and even survived the covid. Since he lives in NJ, and me in PA, they will not permit me to see him, since NJ is locked down again, to out of state visitors. I talk to him on the phone every other day or so.So that is good.
