Got introduced to this beautiful ghazal in my youth at about 19 years of age, even at that age I got hooked to this masterpiece and today when I am at the doorstep of my 50, this ghazal holds the same mystic touch and enigma with the magical voices of Jagjit ji and Chitra ji
2011में पहली बार CD/DVD ke माध्यम यह गजल सुना था तो कुछ विस्तार से समझ नहीं आया था। जब वास्तविक रूप से यह गजल अब समझ आ रहा है। जीवन के अत्यंत आवश्यक और कठिन सच्चाई से रूबरू कराता है।❤❤❤

I admire chitra ji more in duet ghazals because of her soft, innocent voice and fluent singing.. she deserves to be admired more than today's whole bunch of besure singers(?) Like mika, Kakkar, badshah etc.. there is no comparison of great chitra ji with Auto-tune singers but people must acknowledge talent..
I have listened to this song many many times but feel like I must listen to this another time. So soothing for heart. My respects to Chitra ji & Jagjit ji.

दुनिया जिसे कहते है जादू का खीलों ना है In 1980 I must have heard this ग़ज़ल on LP at least 3 times a day for 3 months in the mess. It gives importance to the fact that you must enjoy the company of your friends because they are for a very short time with us.
Listened this for the first time back in 2011 when I was a Class 12 Student,This takes me back to the moments I shared with my Childhood friend who Ceased at a very young age back in 2013,May his Soul Rest in Peace ! The collection of Beautiful Gazals we had This is one of them,God it's so satisfying and soothing.
This is real music. This is pure quality… it’s divine. The two here- Respect for both of them. The Honey’s and the Mika’s and the other trash superficial auto tune singers should call it a day. Not for a day should they get a chance to spoil real quality music. Hope they understand. Please do not spoil MUSIC! This is MUSIC

Contextually, I am reminded of what Gurudev Ravindranath Tagore Sir once wrote "What I seek I get not, what i get I seek not" The esence of living and dying summed in just few stanzas of meaningful verses.
Chitra could have been a Lata, but after losing their son they not same anymore. Jagjit who used to be supportive singer for his wife, changed his tone more darker ,and went on to become a legendary singer on par with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan with his distinctive style. Sometimes listening his songs can find the melodic elements that he used to sing with his wife. The greatest indian singer on this planet will always only be Jagjit.
Nothing on Planet Earth belongs to us. everything is transitory and the will of the Almighty i am sure that Jagjit jee and Chitrajee understand this too well they have also mentioned this in this ghazalb
She stopped singing after that , this was not her only tragedy in life , she lost her first husband and then her daughter from her previous marriage to suicide , for me , I prefer to listen to her solos more than Lata

उस्ताद बड़े गुलाम अली खान साहब कहते थे की ग़ज़ल उस महफ़िल में चलती है जहाँ लोग शास्त्रीय संगीत की समझ नहीं रखते. शास्त्रीय संगीत की घंटों चलने वाली ठुमरियों और खयालों से इतर एक नयी लहर है ये नयी ग़ज़ल जिसका चलन सन चालीस के दौर में भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में शुरू हुआ. लोगों के दिल में पल रहे एहसासों को संगीतमय रूप से अभिव्यक्त करने के कारण और समय कम लेने के कारण महफ़िलों का एक ५०-६० साल का दौर चला जो अद्भुत था. नब्बे का दशक और सीडी की आमद ने महफ़िलें ख़त्म कर दी. अब रिकार्डिंग सुन सुन कर संगीत का स्पंदन तो नहीं मिलता पर अल्फाजों का सुकून जरुर मिलता है. भगवान् हमारे संगीत को फ्यूज़न के अज़ाब से बचाए.

There can be no truth more meaningful than this...and what rendition by the duo....it's meditation not music...I go back to this ghazal again and again since my childhood days and is so relevant even today and shall remain in times to come...Chitra ji is simply so smooth in her presentation and the Master can never be compaired or complemented...he is beyond all these.......
