宮古港を襲う津波の様子を捉えた映像(宮古市鍬ケ崎地区で撮影)。岩手めんこいテレビ宮古支局記者が高台にある宮古漁業協同組合の敷地から鍬ケ崎地区を撮影。
川を逆流する波。湾の沖に白波が立ち、徐々に高さと勢いを増してくる。
いつのまにか埠頭岸壁の高さまで水面があふれ、車も流され始める。
水かさを増し、あっという間に陸地へと浸食してくる波。
たくさんの車やコンテナ、建物までもが簡単に流され、やがて海と陸地の区別がつかなくなった。
一瞬にして、ありとあらゆるものが波にのみ込まれ、破壊されていく。
信じられない光景を目の当たりにし、騒然とする人々。
追い打ちをかけるかのように引き波が、そして再び強烈な波が容赦なく押し寄せ、宮古港付近は、がれきの焦土と化した。
Footage: Tsunami attacking Miyako harbor (Shot from Kuwagasaki district) A reporter from Iwate Menkoi TV Miyako branch video recorded the Kuwagasaki district from the site of fisherman's cooperative association on a high hill. Waves are flowing backwards up the river. White waves begin to form offshore at bay, gradually increasing height and intensity. All of a sudden the water level reaches that of the quay wall and overflows, washing away cars in the process. Waves increase capacity, reaching and gaining land in an instant. A dozen cars, intermodal containers, and even buildings are easily being washed away. Soon no distinction between land and sea can be made. In a moment's time, every object on land is swallowed by the waves and destroyed. People are in an uproar, facing an unbelievable sight right in front of their very eyes. As the final blow, there is backwash followed by an intense surging of waves. Miyako harbor and its vicinity have been reduced to debris.
