I do a winter stock up as well. I like to gwt all the bulky stuff for the whole winter. It makes for less trips in and out of the house in the freezing cold.
Since you are living in such a small space, may I suggest you forgo buying tomato sauce and just use tomato paste and add water to it. It's basically the same thing and takes up less room. You're paying for so much water with tomato sauce. I don't buy it anymore even though I have tons of storage space. I just buy the paste. Just a thought. Thanks for showing us what you are buying, it's always interesting to see what other buy!

Just a thought. Flour and cornmeal products will get buggy after a while. I put mine in the freezer for a few days to kill any bug eggs , because they are there. Oatmeal will get buggy too, but since we use it up pretty quickly I have never put the oatmeal in the freezer. I love how well you all are doing and have much admiration for you both.❤

Obsessed with viewing people’s shopping hauls this fall. Yours is the first I can actually resonate with, mainly because of the lack of prepackaged foods. Not judging anyone else, but I also make our meals from scratch and want to get good ideas on how others do this as well. We have an RV size fridge (12V) so I get the concept of not buying a bunch of items which require cold storage.
I am beginning my stock up on paper towels, toilet tissue as they were on sale. I will be getting dishwasher liquid, cat food & litter, and am going to be sto king my freezer with meat when it is a good price as well as canned veggies . Better to buy it at a low price and have it on hand.
For the beans if you bought the none canned ones, I thought people usually place it in some water for a few hours so it absorb the water and then it's placed in a pressure cooker, making it cook faster. At least this is what we use to do, makes it easier to plant your own as well. I prefer black eye peas than any of the other beans. Good to you see someone taking the state of the world seriously, with the upcoming elections and also the discovery of the new pandemic virus mpox, we need people like you more and more these days. .
Only about 1/2 those items were a savings. The other 1/2 is about the same being bought in smaller amounts like at Walmart. I would also consider the price of the club card when crunching the numbers. I use to belong to Costco for years until I realized I wasnt saving anything.
I purchase quite a few things in bulk from a local mill in Athens, Ohio. I buy wheat berries because they store better but, they will grind it for you. I get my beans, popcorn and cornmeal there too. They have the best grits ever! Of course, I grow and preserve almost everything else but, I have been at it awhile. You should check to see if there is a mill in your area. Most likely they will provide organic and ancient grains.
Another idea you could do is to can up meals that can set on the shelves, such as chilli, veggie soup, chicken, hamburger, stews. No fridge or freezer need they will last on you shelves for a long while.
Any tinned meats? Maybe some dried pasta (emergency), potatoes in a can, or long shelf life foil bags. Something to round out the meals when you run out of/get tired of rice.
I don't cook oatmeal most of the time. I put a serving in a bowl, add tap water to a consistency I like, and put some cinnamon on top. Sometimes I will put a little bit of fruit in it-a few small/slices chunks of apple, pear, peach, nectarine, or plum, some berries or a few pieces of dried cranberries. Doing it that way save some on whatever cooking method is being used.

Good suggestion! We've been living in a 34 foot motor home for 8 years now. Putting a brand new house on a land lot we just bought in the next few months. Being a "traveling prepared person", it's not easy but doable! We removed the extra chair behind the passenger seat of our rig, and actually fit a 7 cubic deep freezer in here! It holds a good amount of meat for two people. Every single nook and cranny is stuffed with dry goods, spice packs, and freeze dried foods. I cook with them all the time, and have gotten good at "doctoring them up" with added ingredients. I hope this helps?
If you don't have additional outside storage like a shed or a shipping container etc. You can buy 55 gallon food grade metal drums not plastic. Typically $20/barrel. Eat them whole, sweet or savory. Use them in baking cookies and breads. Ground meat extender. Put in a blender to make flour. Add water then strain for oat milk.
For long and slow cooking like beans a haybox would help. That is like a giant thermos to keep food hot/warm enough to keep cooking without a heatsource under it. You'd have to heat it up before and when you want to eat and maybe 1-2 times in between for long cooking times and cold weather, but when in there it doesn't need supervision. It is an old way of cooking while doing other things during the day. Saves energy and no firerisk.

A little something that I learned if you are using pinto beans for refried beans you can cook them, mash or leave whole and dehydrate once dried you can powder them add the seasonings that you would if making refried beans and put into a container that you vacuum seal with or without a 02 absorber so when ready to use just add enough boiling water to cover and it will rehydrate itself where you can’t tell the difference between the fresh or dried.. this will save you so much space in general.
Did you ever try home canning your beans in a pressure cooker? Soaking them with some seaweed for added minerals helps soften the beans quicker being sure to pour off the soaking H2O to reduce gas. Do you ever think about underground cellar storage even with coolers? Or maybe the creek? Not sure if it’s too much trouble. Thx for your videos!

I forego ALL that shopping by raising chickens and limiting my diet to eggs, raw milk and ruminate meat. It makes "shopping" a walk in the park. You purchased many of the same items we stock from Sam's as well. We also order quinoa and the black beans. I get the quinoa in the green bag though. It's a dollar cheaper, same weight still organic. I just got a shipment in for part of our winter stock up. I bought two cases of the coconut milk, we use it often in curry and soups. Are ya'll planning to stay through winter now? Also i just noticed i was unsubbed so i resubscribed. I dont more why youtube does that. Take care friends ❤
2nd Comment I haven't bought toilet paper for probably 10 years. I use a bidet i made myself from a $9 pump sprayer and a kitchen push-lever sprayer. This alone has likely saved me a thousand bucks so far. Hey, also, I bake homemade chicken feed in my sun oven. No reason you couldn't do soups & stews (and meat) that way too. I do.
For dry beans and or even raw meat? A Pressure "Cooker" would be useful it cooks in about 20 minutes. My question is living off Grid with no house or storage shed where are you storing these items? And if not in your RV, how are you preventing them from being accessed by things like mice, rats, rodents I am sure you have those around there somewhere. Cute puppy btw. Anna In Ohio
I have a well meaning health tip for you. Choose basmati rice over jasmine rice as it is a lot better for blood glucose levels and the insulin response in your body. Over time jasmine rice will fast track any insulin resistance issues which long term lead to diabetes.
Just a suggestion since you find the store overwhelming, shop on your phone, pay the pickup fee, and pickup without having to go in. Saves you time snd stress while costing a small fee. I think ours is $4.
Why on the earth all American bloggers stock up for this specific winter, why there should be emergency??? Can anybody share the light on this situation????

I have recently started making sour day bread. My family loves it. The grocery store charges 8.00 a loaf. Cheaper to make it from scratch.
Wash shave space save ❤❤❤❤
You purchased many of the same items we stock from Sam's as well. We also order quinoa and the black beans. I get the quinoa in the green bag though. It's a dollar cheaper, same weight still organic. I just got a shipment in for part of our winter stock up. I bought two cases of the coconut milk, we use it often in curry and soups. Are ya'll planning to stay through winter now? Also i just noticed i was unsubbed so i resubscribed. I dont more why youtube does that. Take care friends ❤

I haven't bought toilet paper for probably 10 years.
I do.
I love this idea!
Hi Katie and Family 🌻
Does your family drink milk ?
And if so, what type ?
@@tessramos8828We generally use almond milk for baking. We don’t really drink anything but water (and water with coffee in it😆).
Hi sweetie great video 📹 💖. Look after your self and your hair .❤wash clean eat repeat 👌 😋 😀 take care beatiful family 👪 home stead ❤❤❤❤
I would probably sum it up to this year's election, our economy, and trauma from Covid shortages.
Just be aware that pasta and rice is very fattening, so..be careful about over eating these items.
Why show us what you bought twice?
