When Tayo (Tazer) gets on his knees it’s his way of showing respect to his grandma because he’s Nigerian and we have deep respect for the elders.
I hate to bring race into this but we're used to seeing mostly white superheroes to a point many people are taking time giving this show a chance but it's really really good and am happy you're reacting to it.
Because we black folks don't have the spotlight like that

Yeah I was surprised, its mostly the black react channels that have done it, at least that's all UA-cam is showing me.
They have bloods and crips in the UK. They have had them for years now, since like the 90s. Dipset was affiliated with the bloods in the UK. They signed a couple UK artists who were bloods back in the 2000s and called the group SAS.

So glad to see y’all reacting to this. My fiancé and I just finished this show last night and while we loved it, we are starving for Season 2. Imma need Netflix to just go ahead and approve Rapman’s 3 season plan so he can tell the whole story and we get a middle and an end.

As a black Londoner this is a good show, but I’m a little tired of media only representing us as youth gangs in Top Boy and this. It is like the white gaze wants to pigeon hole black British people as this. The Uk has the most educated Black population in the western world, where around 50% of black people in the UK have a university degree, black kids now outperform white kids of the same social class in education too statistically, yet we get constant shows about British hood violence because that is what white people like seeing with black people. UK is now going through what happened in the USA in 1990s when Hollywood was only making Hood films with black people because that is what white audiences like to see. That is why I love the movie Rye Lane. Set in South London, no one is being shot, or stabbed about two normal education black people falling in love in a romcom, that wasn’t as popular with white people because the black people were too normal.

@@Kbanz198 He is the creator of the show, he is hardly going to admit the show represent British Black people in false stereotypical light. While the show is good the majority of British Black misrepresentation of Black People as youth gang murders, it is a completely false damaging narrative.
Your take is understandable. As much as *you* don’t want to see it though, it is still other people’s LIVED experience. All of these characters are relatable for different black people in the U.K.
The biggest issue with the Black movie scene at the moment, is how London centric it is. You’ll hear people talking about “Black British movies” but it’s all Londoners.
It’s like the movie scene in this country forgets that there are black people in Liverpool, Leeds, Scotland etc.

So...another Black superhero show/movie on Netflix that will unfortunately only be covered for as long as it's on, then buried by the algorithm because the Big N hates to advertise anything that's outside of the box and they hate to release almost anything that it has the distribution rights for on DVD/Blu-ray. In point-of-fact, I only know this exists because Maried2theReal and other UA-camrs like them are covering the show and they fell into my feed. Because Ọya knows it DEFINITELY wasn't because Netflix itself told me.
Does anyone here other than me remember Project Power? If you don't, it's not your fault. It's just Netflix being Netflix. But if you like this, you should 100% make the time to watch that.

I've watched the Whole Season in two day's! You're in for a ride!
I love to watch UK shows so I’ve seen most of these actors before, they did their thing with this season for sure. Next month when I can subscribe to a few more Patreons again I’ll have to do my full rewatch there.
The London “bangers” really are that annoying in real life as I learned summer of 2015, on screen every time we see them I’m like “please skip back to anybody else”😅 but they play a part in the overall story.
Tosin Cole made Michael an instant favorite for me and Adelayo Adedayo was a fun choice for Dionne (she does serious roles often but I became a fan of her when she was the lead of the BBC3 comedy, Some Girls), I was like finally some non-toxic black love on Netflix and then we see her grave 🙃
