    Aloha Ohana, Have you ever had a piece like this that took FOREVER to complete but was the most amazing Learning experience???? Tell us about it! Thanks for watching and sharing!🤗

    Ladies I feel the pain of getting on the job earlier in the AM. It's been okay until about 12 but the triple digits are coming. Stay hydrated my friends! This turned out so nice, the black is classy. The learning jobs are frustrating in the moment but end up being so much better than the easy ones in the end. Restorations are always that way for me!

      I know, right? We are still at that stage where almost everything seems to be a learning experience. Maybe it's because almost all of our pieces are in such rough shape when they come our way or because we love to repurpose and upcycle when we can. Always an adventure!!!

    What I love (well, I love many things about painting), but one of the things I really love is the learning as I go. Just so fun. Happy Furniture Makeovers!!!! Crazy fun.

      Hi Ivy! You are so right! I think that's why we love furniture flipping so much. Every piece brings a challenge AND an opportunity to Learn (or RE-LEARN ...)😵❤

      @@TheHappyWhisk Haha ... yes but i used the wrong word ... I meant makeover not flip. The actual makeover is much more fun than the buying and selling for us.

      @@secondchanceohana Ohh, I gotcha. Yes, it's quite fun. I recently got a little chair from an antique shop. I asked the owner about it. Been there when she bought the place eight years ago. I couldn't believe no one else wanted it. Makeover is a good word!

    Beautiful work ladies, thanks for saving my sanity today!! My noncompliant piece is waiting for me out in the barn. Dont you just want to throw in the towel, and the paint brush sometimes.

    • @secondchanceohana
      @secondchanceohana  2 роки тому +1

      Haha... yes, the towel, the paint brush and the orbital sander!!! Then we remember that it is during the hard circumstances that we are most likely learning the most and developing our best character qualities. (aha ... we could write a book ... "Inner Growth and Maturity Through Furniture Flipping")😂😮😅

    What a great payoff for your first piece. Your vision was terrific and perhaps there were some hiccups along the way, but coming up with a design for a piece really showcases your creativity.

    I love how this piece came out ladies...and my First "Oops I Wished I Knew More Or better" is Accepting my First commission piece where they bought a French provincial 9 drawer dresser that was ALL particle board (drawers crumbling in the backs where I couldn't see when giving a quote as well as NEVER Excepting a Piece that's been Painted in Latex 5 Layers thick) and only Quoted 150 with NO buffer ..NO deposit and Because I'm a Woman of her word It Took Me literally 5 ENTIRE Days for just Taking Off latex paint and Then 2 Days of gluing and Spraying shellac On entire Inside shell and Drawers Just To stop the crumbling etc ..and THEN She Ended Up Being Upset Kuz I HAD to ask for 20 extra Bucks to Buy More shellac..I was Literally defeated ...😂😂😂😂❣️

      Oh my!!!! Yes, I am not a fan of commission pieces and that one sounds like it was a nightmare!!! Thanks for sharing that story, Debra!!! we can all learn from each 😮other's mistakes! Love you, dear friend!

      @@secondchanceohana oh Yes IF someone can Prevent Making a mistake I've Made IS a Plus all Day for me.....what I learned Was Never Ever Make a quote on a piece unseen or Has been painted before. .Even IF you Trust them as MOST Of our clients Don't know Really What The difference between chalk or latex etc so That part I learned hard way .also Give yourself a 100 Buffer On Quotes ..where You Say "I can Do this for 400- 500 IF something Comes up I Didn't Previously see like a repair etc....And always get a deposit of 100 ... Especially on a Color choice that You wouldn't otherwise paint. ..hope this helps someone, 🥰👍

    • @secondchanceohana
      @secondchanceohana  2 роки тому +1

      @@debraneria4242 Great advise, Debra! And always expect the worse. In addition to latex vs. chalk paint, there is also a world of difference be😵tween working with solid wood vs. quality veneer covering a solid substrate vs. damaged particle board and MDF. And it's hard to see that in pictures.
