Thank you for this video. It reinforces my wish to live in Shikoku for a few months since I am an avid mountain trekker and since I love the Japanese language and culture. Thank you once again.
Anyway, that's not a trekking at all but a pilgrimage in honour of Koubo Daishi (弘法大師). For this reason, there is a huge philosophic and religious history beyond this "trek". I suggest you to read something and takes all the infos you can in order to enjoy and understand completely the Paths you are going to walk. If you love Japanese culture as you said, you will really discover something special and not simply a trekking along the mountains. と思います。😉

Nonetheless, the physical act of walking (trekking) is part of the pilgrimage, just as the physical aspects of yoga are also part of the spirituality. How you concluded that I am not aware of the religious and spiritual significance of the trek is perhaps more projection on your part than it is a description of my awareness.
