    • @2wayradioshop
      @2wayradioshop Рік тому

      Hey Samuel,
      To set up regionalisation on the R7 your router has to have a set SSID and password that can be found online. Once that router has been set up it will regionalise. It is also best when attempting regionalisation, to have a full battery for the best results.
      Please let me know if you need any more assistance!

      @@2wayradioshop Ok I think I got it. I had to get network admin from the owner of the internet service in my home (he is housemate too). I basically used an old Netgear device of his, and used it as an acces point. The owner gave me an IP address I could use (he has everything hidden from outside). First I reset the Netgear device, added it's IP address to my computer so they can talk (by pinging) and then later changed on Netgear website (for access point) and changed that AP to configure with my laptop ip address and added MOTORBO with password as Radio Management on Netgear access point device. If you read this far thank you friend, have a blessed week NIamh!🤙

    is this for ham use?

    • @dereklea1183
      @dereklea1183 Рік тому

      The radio could be used for ham radio operations if the frequency split of the radio covers the 2 meter or 70 cm bands. You would need the CPS, programming cable and the wideband EID from Motorola to program it to operate in the ham bands. The EID (wideband entitlement key) allows the radio to be programmed for 25 kHz channel use since commercial radios must comply to the narrowband programming requirements established in 2013.

      The R7 is an exceptionally tough device and it is completely waterproof under normal circumstances. The speaker is also quite loud compared to a typical amateur radio such as an Anytone AT-d878. There is also a active transmission noise cancellation which works at least partially. The R7 would be a good choice for a noisy job site. There is also pre-processing for the audio codec. When you set up the radio in CPS2.0 software, you can tell it what language you speak to supposedly improve the intelligibility of speech transmission. The trans-reflective display on the R7 is nice, even easy to read in sunlight. By comaparison, the display on a Tytera MD-380 almost disappears in sunlight.
      The real power of the R7 is for municipal settings where a fleet of hundreds of radios might need to be managed. Motorola Solutions makes management software geared to running a huge fleet of radios. It is possible to drag and drop radios between talk groups and make talk groups on the fly and add radios such as one might want to do for a disaster response.
      Is is worth 1,400 bucks? Probably not to the individual user. You can buy five or six of the better Chinese DMR radios for what one R7 costs. The Anytone AT-d878 is VHF/UHF dual band dual receive whereas the R7 has to be ordered for one band, either VHF or UHF.
