We saw them on NYE 1988 at Sea World and we were so shocked how skinny Steve was and his energy and moves were over the top. Crack was really prevalent around that time in Florida and I honestly thought he was cracked up because he was so skinny and his energy levels.
I've literally looked for live VIDEO footage from this tour for 30 years. If I just would've searched for Kansas 1988 instead of 1989, maybe I'd have found it sooner. Who knows. Either way, this is great!
Oh my goodness, what a GEM this video is…UNBELIEVABLE! I never knew anything like this was around. As a life long Kansas fan, I can’t thank you enough for sharing this.
The jacket that SW wears here is the same as in the Reason to Be music video from 9 years before this. My fav jacket! And also I'm absolutely loving the hair. Beautiful.
I attended a show there in, i believe, 2010. Was a bunch of cute kids. It was 45 and sideways rain. It’s incredible that Kansas played there. Thx for the post.
I saw this lineup with Steve Morse & Billy Greer. Probably the same tour. Can't remember if it was Power or In the Spirit of Things that they were touring on. But even with his voice a little road weary Walsh was relentless. Just non-stop. Was doing hand stands on the keyboard. I also seem to remember Morse playing violin. Which I didn't know he could do. But it was a great show. My wife & I saw them a couple times around those two albums. Once with Night Ranger opening for them. I feel very lucky to have seen a lot of great live music in my lifetime. And I'm not dead yet!
Steve Morse warms the cockles of my heart. Steve is such a cool dude and in my opinion one of the greatest guitar players in the world. I LOVE The Dixie Dreggs, The Dreggs, SMB. HE IS SO GREAT YET SO HUMBLE . THAT WOULD OF BEEN SOOOOOO AWESOME IF KERRY DIDNT GET RELIGIOUS ON US AND WELCOMED MORSE AS A 3RD GUITAR PLAYER,AS WELL AS HIS OTHER MUSIC ABILITIES . TALKING ABOUT A SUPER,DOOPER ROCK GROUP 🎸
Don't be foolish. Kerry's search for truth was what helped him write such amazing lyrics. I think you meant "would have been". I would encourage you to read his book "Seeds of Change" before passing judgement.
Same old bs, how could he sing this way, lol when I saw him in the 70's he always was moving and signing his butt off, I saw him on the Power tour in Atlanta at the Fox, had seen them 8 times before in the 70's and the last tour of Audio Visions...and Power was his best tour ever! Idiots post this sht everywhere, foolish
I thought I had seen all Kansas live video but never saw this one. Was it ever commercially released on VHS or DVD, or just a special video for armed forces only?
Keytar was a bad idea, just sayin. Everything else was awesome! I caught this them on this USO Tour at 32nd Street Naval Station San Diego. I was up at the very front directly in front of Steve Morse.
Yeah, Steve looks pretty awkward with it. Not too many keyboard players looked right with them. I think Roger Powell of Utopia was one of the only one's that looked comfortable with one, but he kind of invented it so he better look comfortable lol
Around this time, he was doing the professional pilot thing and seemed to be straddling the straight job with music. Ultimately, he made the right decision by sticking with music although this was a strange time for both Kansas and himself.
Yes, Steve Morse enjoyed being in Kansas... his musical relationship with Steve Walsh goes back to 1980, when he played on "Schemer Dreamer", first solo album from Walsh... he told them when he joined the band it was only going to be a 2 album/few years membership, but he has kept friends with the band and played on "Not in Kansas Anymore", by Robby Steinhardt (his only solo album released in 2021, released after his death).
Does Steve Walsh have Indian blood? Those braids he's wearing sure say Indian. And as he got older he looks even more Indian. He does a good Pow Wow dance too.
I love Steve Walsh, one of my favorite singers ever but sometimes the cocaine use was a little too obvious, but Merle Haggards cocaine years were his best so,,
Funny how his neck is so thick he's in amazing shape and voice but he's "always a coke head", not here, those days went south like the Whiskey show many years before, ignorance rules
Must not be familiar with his performance, I've seen him since 74, always wide open, he never changed but the "coke head" narrative continues, ignorance
No wonder he's fit in Deep Purple so well for the past 30 years. Ian Gillan has never wanted backing vocals. (His buddy Roger Glover has only just started chipping in occasionally, but the vast majority of DP is just Gillan and nobody else.)
Funny, how this song actually is a memorial AGAINST the people who conquered this land but still it units (almost wrote he, for the song has so much personality) all those ppl under IT, who would be mindless patriots ignoring the dégâts they inflicted onto the land they mean to praise.
They rocknlg the World on the stage ,radio , pubs . Clubs . God bless yhem .😊❤❤❤❤
Absolutely amazing to be able to see Kansas perform during this particular part of their career. Steve Walsh is awesome!

I salute Kansas and all bands who go on USO tours to entertain our fine men and women in uniform.
Love Steve Morse with Kansas...That band was a perfect fit...Thx for the Video
walsh is my favorite singer
Thanks ao much for this gem. Steve Walsh is a huge vocal influence for me.

Steve is in fine voice here.
That's a great version of Stand Beside Me. I like the look exchanged between Morse and Walsh as they closed out the song.

USO gave us the Hooters at the Nav Base in Groton, CT, only time I wish I had been stationed in Iceland at that time.

This is wonderful thanks!

❤Uau!
Jag dööööör, så jävla bra! På ren svenska.
17:04 Even in Iceland, coke is available.
Steve Walsh was all over the place since he retired i wouldn't go see them he was the best !!
Walsh is tweeking hard here.
At least someone said it

True haha but he's out there giving 120%

Military only. Somebody gave me this video at one of our shows in Anaheim, CA 20 yrs ago
not 88 ???

Mr. KEITH EMERSON !!!
That was not a Keytar It had no neck.

There was a limit on what they could ship overseas, from US to Iceland.
Did Steve Morse enjoy playing in Kansas ?
Thought the same now 😁

Was Steve Walsh still on coke during this time period?
Still? He went really heavy on the coke in the 90s.
I didn't know that Morse played violin.
Yes I think he tuned it in 4ths like guitar
No kick Drums !!! Wha?
I was surprised when i discovered Steve Morse was part of Kansas, i tought the only big band he was part of was DP.
Dude. Dixie Dregs. Best Steve Morse work.
@@David-iv6je Dude..is right. Good stuff with Flying Colors too and his solo stuff. But the Dixie Dregs are his crowning achievement.
Steve Morse is a longtime friend of Walsh, playing also on his first solo album, "Schemer dreamer", in 1980.. or 81 maybe 😉
1980.
Does Steve Walsh have Indian blood? Those braids he's wearing sure say Indian. And as he got older he looks even more Indian. He does a good Pow Wow dance too.
Steve Morse from Dixie Dregs on guitar.
Iceland?? really??
Must be around the time when Power came out.
No. In the Spirit of Things.

What a talented man ¡¡¡
Steve Morse of course

Walsh and Morse...nuff said.

Steve Morse belonged to Kansas and never to Deep Purple
Morse was never comfortable singing.
But totally comfortable with Muscle Shirts! lol
