My grandparents moved to Sanibel in 1975….bought a condo at Coquina Beach in 1977….Bailey’s general store was the only grocery store…their slogan was, if I recall…”if we don’t have it…you don’t need it!’ 😂😂😂
Please pass my condolences to the Bailey family for the loss of 'The T House'. My parents stayed there every February for decades. I visited many times. If they remember the small painting in the small front bedroom hung by the doorway to the sunroom, my father painted that for Sam. It was the T House as seen from the beach he did from a photo my mother took. He had never seen it from the beach himself. As my father was a paraplegic he so enjoyed sitting on the deck talking with Sam. I came down in my van for 3 weeks with Operation BBQ Relief as a way to pay back the island for all the great memories. 3 of those days I was on the Island passing out hot meals to all who came by. I was able to get some photo's of the Tree House while there. (Oct-Nov 2022) My father passed in 2002, but mother returned every February until it was no longer rented out. However, The Bailey's were gracious and let us bring her back one last time in 2016. Mother is now 93 and heart broken hearing The T House is no more. I was at that pond looking for that gator, so glad I didn't see him knowing someone was attacked not long after I left.
We love Sanibel and have stayed there every year when we visit. Bailey's is one of the stores we shopped at. Heartbreaking to hear what happened but ya'll are resilient and we can't wait to see the new place when we come back. Praying for ya'lls recovery and to stay strong!
Great update , sadly a month out of date, recorded on 19 Dec apparently. Any chance of getting the audio version out quicker? Been a regular November visitor to island since ‘82…. Good luck Baileys …… did the old trucks get lost in storm? ( they answer about 33:00) Cheers Warren
We are the owners of the island dry cleaners and this is the most information we’ve gotten thank you very much.
You are so welcome. All the best to you. ❤️

Thank you for sharing that! Love to hear old stories of the islands. I will certainly pass along your message. ❤️

I soooooo love that combo island.
Yes we love our lighthouse!
Has anyone heard about Loggerhead Cay and how many rooms have to be rebuilt and if/when it will be completed?

Yes sorry for the delay. Our home was flooded so we are working to get back in. It is taking a lot of our time.
The island was grey! Bailey's is going to do what Jerry's did. I go to Jerry's for basic things, but I go to Bailey's for the fantastic deli area!
Agree with everything especially the Bailey's deli!
We are hoping and praying that Joey’s Custard can rebuild somewhere, I realize there are many unknowns.
Yes! Love Joey’s.
Baileys was not looking good when I was on the island 2 weeks after Ian. I was doing cleanup on Limpet drive
Unfortunately, the alligator is NOT okay, thanks to the ignorance of the worker...
Oh no, please keep us posted
