The toxicity we witnessed on the show between Tamika, Tocha, and their mother is all too common in Black families. What may be worst than being treated as a second-rate sibling and daughter is the gaslighting.
I'm an only child. HOWEVER... I immediately tapped in to Tamika's feelings in this episode because, as a queer person, I know what it's like to be "othered." And that grown lady has made it her life's mission to "other" her daughter Tamika when it comes to her daughter LaTocha. It's very plain. Especially at the end when Tocha got up and stood next to her mother, putting her hand on her shoulder saying "Wow!" while Tamika was visibly upset. I don't bet, but if I did, I'd put money on if the situation was reversed, if LaTocha was calling out Tamika and her husband for stealing 30K, the mother would NOT -- I repeat -- would NOT demand the cameras be cut. She would show all the way out in front of those cameras defending LaTocha.
Don I gotta question cause it’s some things I’m just not understanding. Tocha left to go solo, that didn’t work and tried to reunite the group a year or 2 later and that didn’t work. Since the group broke up Tocha has been the most vocal about reuniting XSCAPE and in every interview basically brought that! Now that the group is back together, she’s doing what she did in 97 before going solo. My question is does Kandi (and Kandi camp), feel that she wanted to bring the group back together in order to spring board her solo career (Again)? Cause that’s what it’s looking like. That Kandi and Tiny was just used because of their relevance today!
It does seem like Kandi & Tiny popularity and relevance was used. Even this show and the “coincidental” timing of Toscha’s solo project. She’s dumb tho…. The only chance she has at solo success is to continue her association with her group, even then it’s just a chance not a guarantee. She can continue to drop a solo album every year for the rest of her life, she’s never going to see the sucess sage sees from Xscape. If she wants to pursue solo projects for artistic fulfillment, more power to her, but it behooves her to realize that the most financial success attainable to her is exploiting the Xscape legacy. Personally as a long time fan of both groups I have no interest in hearing new music from them. If they go on tour I was to hear the songs I already know and love! Especially after this show Latoscha will only be publicly accepted IF she is with Xscape and she will probably be the fans least favorite member based on what we are seeing from her, her only appeal is being associated with the other ladies.
I agree with you on being a sibling and understanding your parents always have a "favorite child", even if they won't ever admit it!!! Tamika had a right to feel how she did about her mother's favoritism towards Latocha, it hurts no matter how old you are!!!

Yes! I saw SWV and BBD on the Great Xscape tour in Kansas City in July 2018 😊 It was 🔥🔥🔥 and at the time I didn’t realize SWV only did a few shows at that time.
I am a middle child and can relate to Tamika. My older and younger sister were definitely treated better than me. They were called beautiful but I was told oh you think you are cute by my mom(others considered me the prettiest of us 3). I have always suffered with low self esteem because of that. Any argument i had with my sisters, I was always discplined and sided against by my mom. I can definitely sympathize with Tamika. I have worked since I was 15, bought my own prom and graduation things while my other sisters were paid for by my mom. It made me stronger and very independent even though it hurt and still hurts. Now i have degrees, one child, my own everything. My mom passed 6 years ago and I asked her years before she passed why was i treated different. She used the excuse that I was able to handle myself better and didnt require that much attention. That may have been her truth but to me it wasnt acceptable. I just needed her love, support and attention. She made me feel like I was never good enough even though i never made a C, got into trouble and participated in every activity I could in school. It was hard but going through therapy is helping me. The hurt doesnt leave but you learn how to push forward, love and support your child and give them all of the attention that you didnt have as a child, teenager and adult.
Worldwide sales for SWV mean not just in the USA but combined for all over the world. They know their sales YOU DON'T. It's a combination of albums and singles. The first SWV album was triple platinum. They are listed as one of the best selling female groups of all time stop trying to shade people all the time😒 messy

Go to RIAA and type their name and their certifications will come up. Gold means they sold 500,000 copies, Platinum means they sold 1 million copies, Diamond is 10million copies. If there is a number inside the Platinum (example 3x), that means they sold 3 million and so forth. The RIAA is he company who certify album and song sales.

SWV sold 11.5 million (combined). Coko’s numbers were off. 😂😂 Xscape sold 6 million (combined) and that is documented by their gold & platinum awards (that is how sales are calculated & documented).
They are talking world wide. I love both groups but SWV are number 15 on the list of Top selling girl groups of all time. This list you posted isn’t accurate because The Spice Girls are the biggest selling Girl Group of all time.

It's horrible when there are two children, and one is favored. Someone told me in a family of children of two or more, one is going to be favored. The thing is not to be so "obvious" in your favoritism. I am not saying "favoritism" is a good thing at all!!! Someone was told by a family member that they were showing "definite favor" towards one of their children. The person responded, "But, that's my baby". I thought the other child(ren) were your baby(ies) too, wow........ just wow.
