My mom sent me to Mormon girls camp when I was a kid. A mom/leader did a talk about how she struggled with depression but fixed it by remembering to keep smiling and acting happy no matter what her feelings were because it was her responsibility to cheer up/lift up her husband and family, not to bring them down. So that's the glaze I think. The smile which becomes meaningless because it's plastered on over every emotion.

The Christmas videos were very enlightening. The kids would get only things they needed like underwear, sheets, crayons, while the mother got herself designer items under the guise of being able to hand them down to get children one day. Two of her kids were somehow sharing a winter coat until one got a new one for Christmas. It was so sad how excited that sister was to get her own coat 😢

But I have never seen someone willingly put their kids in this position despite not needing to. The fact that she can even afford a designer handbag shows they were far from being poor.

What is she supposed to make?? She can’t even work a microwave probably! And if she didn’t bring it, the mom wasn’t going to bring it. And said she hopes NO ONE GIVES HER FOOD TO MAKE HER LEARN A LESSON. The teacher asked her to bring one and she said no. That’s troubling and should of been counted as abuse.

Ruby’s own parents were abusive to her. She had to be “grown” at age 5 so she could take care of her younger siblings because her mom was always focused on the latest baby. As she got pregnant again she’d push the poor little one away and make them the responsibility of the other kids. Ruby never had her own space, her own room, or her own life. She lived to please her Narcissist mother and was taught that being a mother meant you were then privileged and could do whatever you want. It doesn’t excuse what she turned into in any way, but it does explain it. Her youngest sister Ellie is exactly like Ruby used to be too, only no one wants to see it just as they didn’t when Ruby’s channel was at its peak. Too many mormons are the fans watching. Them and the oldest daughter have been very vocal about the fact that they do not support ruby or her connections podcast and cut all communications with her a while ago.
The oldest daughter went on a podcast explaining what it was like to be in college and to be slowly de-programmed from her parents brainwashing.
The father to my knowledge stopped associating with ruby and there’s rumours he left her but he used to defend her wack ass parenting and I dont think he should be let off the hook.
Connections was a pay to veiw podcast that charged people thousands of dollars a month to be explicitly taught how to essentially emotionally and physically abuse your kids. They were obviously super transphobic and homophobic and put ALOT of dangerous rhetoric into the world. I REFUSE to believe that the father was a victim himself, students of his have spoken out on the type of person he is. He’s enabled her behavior & even have said himself tht he doesn’t wanna raise snowflakes so they put them through these things to make them better. My mom growing up also never allowed ANY privacy. One of the things she did when I was very young was telling me that god is watching. When that didn't work (since i never believed in invisible beings like god, santa claus, tooth fairy) she said she set up cameras everywhere, in and outside my house (even in toilets and bathrooms). The fear of her knowing that ive lied was drilled into me so i never lied. I once tried telling her "i love you" for the first time and I felt like I lied to her and that immediately made me go into panic.
I specifically avoided getting into relationships, having hobbies, buying stuff for myself, having fun basically, because she would always snoop. It triggers me so bad still remembering the stuff she did, i would scratch myself, rip my hair out, hit my own head, hit my fingers on any hard surface and other stuff I wont get into so i could feel that pain instead. I would tremble any time i had to talk about myself, because I was always interrogated by her. Any time I have to talk to friends about myself or to anyone i will tremble, even when its not face to face. She wanted to know all aspects of my life so i purposely didn't do ANYTHING at all in my life, so I wouldn't need to talk about it to her so now I dont even know what kind of person I am, what i like or dislike.
Please allow your kids privacy. Let them have their own space where they can experiment with themselves, develop their own independent lives and interests.

The reason it probably took CPS so long to step in, is because they don’t have as much power as most people think they do. If they show up to the house and the parents don’t want CPS to speak to the kids, then CPS can’t speak with them. Also parents like this usually threaten their kids if they talk to CPS. “You’ll never see your family again” or “I’ll punish you in such in such way.” You need really good evidence to actually have anything happen. Usually the kids have to tell them specifically what’s going on (which they probably won’t do because they’re being threatened), you need some kind of proof, or CPS has to actually see a bad living situation with their own eyes. And if the parents won’t let CPS into the house, then they can’t assess the living situation. It’s very sad, but unfortunately that’s the way the system is set up (this is in my experience, and what I’ve personally seen)

Yeah CPS usually came in the house but my mom made us DEEP CLEAN the house before they'd come over and we usually only could talk to them with her also in the room so no one ever said anything. She'd put on her radio voice and the happy go lucky mom act and it always worked every time. Also CPS never even checked out the whole house every time they came over, just sat in the living room for an hour and left. Looking back now I wish I had said what was going on to them and gotten us taken away from her. Could've saved me and all my siblings a little less trauma to deal with for the rest of our lives. But yeah CPS really is useless that's why people probably stopped calling cause nothing ever came of it.

exmormon here and currently living in utah- the "chambers" he's referring to are located in the mormon temples where rituals/ceremonies take place ranging from baptisms to the dead to marriage endowments. it's revered as super sacred and a lot of people are disturbed when they are able to finally enter the temple. as ethan said, the way the church tries to portray itself is extremely different from the reality behind closed doors. Homophobia, misogyny, racism, pedophilia, pretty much anything you can think of is what this church has been founded on. This church has 150 billion dollars from tithing and investments (?? yes a church) and gives 1% of tithing funds to charity. So disturbing and hard to interact with people still in the church because there's a massive cognitive dissonance.

They took the channel down due to that religious crap she got into with that lady. She basically renounced everything she had said and done after all the "millions" she was making with her channel. She basically said she had to stand in truth and humble herself. That's what it was all about. That's what she took out on her kids so abusively was not wanting them being too proud, spoiled, boastful. That kind of stuff. She made her son who was really talented in football quit because he loved it so much and everything that meant the world to him and why he was doing anything or working hard in school was for football so she took it away from him. She wanted them to be modest while she got mixed up with that lady and talks about how selfish she was and all the millions she made. She is a monster, always was and I've been saying it for years begging UA-camrs to talk about it so many people did but it seemed nobody cared to do anything. She made millions doing this and filming it for people's entertainment. DISGUSTING
