James, a while back Noel said that before they split they were talking about him and Liam joint writing songs. He even mentions the ‘Gallagher and Gallagher’ name for their venture. How do you think that would have panned out? And why would he want to sit down and write songs with someone who was constantly arguing with him and pissing him off? It would have lead to more arguments surely? Especially if Noel knocked back something Liam came up with and Liam thought it was good….
@@russ3628 He liked some of Liams songs like Song Bird and he wanted to co write he was struggling to write that amount of songs so frequently for every album
Nobody could touch liam at this point, 94-97 his voice was absolutely incredible. I wonder if he ever recorded a demo of DLBIA? Be interesting to know what it sounds like if it exsists
don't know if someone already posted this but this is not a soundboard recording, it's an audience recording. This one and Blackpool from 3 nights before were often labeled as SBD back in the day but they are not.
Yeah there’s no live rendition of this song that comes from a soundboard recording as of yet, though as far as audience recordings go this is pretty good
Once again you belt out gems like these, James. Day by day you show us Oasis fans there's always something new to discover of the band. They will be eternal to us and you keep the dream alive, my man. It's a blessing to have you on our side. Best from Chile.
I get the feeling they were planning to play this track throughout the tour, it was played consistently during the first few gigs and at the mega store launch, and in all of these versions you can tell it was an immense effort by Liam, so that’s probably why it got scratched. If only they got to Earls Court before taking it off the setlist
They also played rockin’ chair at the Stoke Trentham Gardens in 95. I was there. I also think the O Zone were there and Kate Middlemiss. As well as Robbie.
Thank you for this gift. I've been listening to this version for years but it sounded very badly. It deserved a remaster like that. This song is very important to me, your effort and work are highly valued. Thanks a lot!!
James James James… what a banging version, such a shame they never did a studio recording of this, it’s fuckin’ awesome… we have been playing an oasis’esk version on ‘Eleanor Rugby’ as our set closer, but I think we may start rehearsing this little belter. ❤
Someone needs to get this in front of NG, I am really hoping they play more of these classics in their reunion gigs than the newer stuff. I'd take this over The Importance of Being Idle 1000 times.
Thanks so much James. If I'd have heard this in 95 I would have shit myself with excitement. I saw them at Leicester Granby Halls in November 95 and was made up when they did an electric version of Whatever! Rocking Chair would have made me even happier, the vox on this recording are 👌
James, ever noticed the chorus is a similar chord pattern to Can't Buy Me Love - The Beatles (Em to Am)? the verse chords are similar to the verse chords on Let It Be too. The melody is pretty similar on that Em to Am too.
You're spot on! It always reminded me of something. One of my top 10 Oasis songs. Love this version. I'm on an Oasis binge at the min. Saw them 3 times. Twice in '96 and then '00.
What a gem! The finest investigative work. Thank you James! How much audio recording do you think may be available that Noel, Liam or the record companies could still release? The possible existance of this hidden treasure is exciting!
Oasis b-sides man. The only band where you had heard the song a million times but you still couldn't wait to buy the single just for the anthemic b-sides.
Great find. Boy I had a trip down memory lane listening to this. It's always been one of my favourite Oasis songs. It takes me right back to studying art at college, long haired metal head that t was, also into Britpop (I took some stick from ppl for that. Still like both. Had a crush on a classmate who loved Pulp, and along with loads of other songs, their song Underwear was the soundtrack to those times. 😊
Thanks for this James always bringing jewels to this channel...i love this electric version.. I'm mad fer it 🍻🍻🍻🍺. Greetings from Córdoba Argentina 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
Thanks for this- big improvement in sound quality over the previous version! Re the studio version - don’t know if you have the US promotional CD of Wonderwall. That includes a different mastering of the studio Rockin Chair without the fade in. Another nice one to have in the collection.
I saw them play at Gloucester the night after. Remember Liam kicking off during Rocking Chair- struggling with vocals in the chorus (it’s high for him here- right?). Verve we’re supposed to have supported. Scott in for Guigsy. Came on to swamp song into Acquiesce into Supersonic. Absolute scenes.
I was at this gig. Met Bonehead afterwards and got him to sign a copy of WTSMG on CD! I think someone threw a shoe at Liam during Slide Away and he stormed off, with Noel taking over on vocals. Or none of that might have happened, and my addled memory is just playing tricks on me. Either way, great video!
Love this song..I still play my own cover version of it and people don't know it..Ive still got the cassette of Glastonbury 95 I recorded off the radio and there is an acoustic version of Noel doing Cast No Shadow back stage . Just before they went huge..That was the best time for me..The pop stations weren't playing them. They were ours. .Here's to better days..They can be again..Oasis gave you belief..Still do..❤
Thank you for your amazing work James, really! 🙌 As a mad for it I've always wondered if Oasis did ever play it live, one of my favourites b-sides. Do you know if there is also a live version of "I hope, I think, I know"? I would love to hear that too!
Wow thanks for uploading this. been loving the original of this recently. This is awesome! Oasis b sides 100x better than any singles released of recent times. Hope they get back together. Tickets will be like gold dust.
I can't find the Blackpool live version of that year. I used to have the MP3 file of that one, but lost it. It sounds sped up, because I assume Liam wouldn't want to sing a key higher.
I've reuploaded this because I screwed up the lyrics on the first version!!!
Enjoy
Thanks

It exists. Noel has it locked away at the bottom of the ocean guarded by the hounds of hell.

This is what social media should be. Sharing gems like this. Why wasn't this on morning glory. What a version!
2:37 “and maybe I can see you there” just hits different man
I was at this gig - first time I’d seen Oasis and it was mental down the front! I was only 14 and loved it
“4,000 tickets sold in less than an hour” just shows how far they went. Today they’d easily sell 400,000 in a matter in seconds.
Was lucky enough to catch them at Glasto '95 and the Sunday Knebworth show in '96. Untouchable live band: the songs, the attitude, the pure energy.
Yea nice mate, I was only 5 lol
Dang, thats awesome man. I would’ve gone… if i was born
Wow your so lucky this band is everthing to me, that would off been unbelievable

Man oh man. Liam’s vocals on this time period…………🔥🔥🔥🔥
This was also one of a few gigs where Scott McLeod was playing bass instead of Guigsy!
This live version sends shivers down the spine. Thanx
"This one's called Rocking Chair"
Very appropriate for the electric version!
Liam's the man what a voice
Fantastic! And this was a B-Side? It truly shows how incredible peak Oasis were

Yes, so much emotion in his voice...Liam has soul when he sings.
Love This Version. Pure Energy like , brilliant
It sounds awesome! I wish this songs comeback in this version either to Liam setlist or to future Oasis reunion tour :D
One of my fav Oasis tunes and this sounds incredible. Great work James as usual. Love the reporters comments at the end. So 90s, so British.
To me, this would have been WTSMG's Slide Away. Liam singing like his life depended on it. Stunning.
only the song is ripped of from one of the Real People's Griffith Brothers
Another absolute banger , Don't think my neighbours gonna be to happy with me tho blasting this out at 9:00am this morning )))
