I love that this song starts with a small reprise of Good Kid. It shows that he's at his lowest moment, thinking the same insecurities about being nothing but trouble and always messing up again. But then he realizes his way out and the rest of the song kicks in
So this song takes place right after the scene in which Hades gives Percy the chance to trade Zeus' lightning bolt for his mother. It immediately leads into this reprise of "Good Kid" and I finally figured out why. Percy was going to give Hades the bolt. He was about betray the gods. He was about to sing the Good Kid Reprise that Luke sings in "The Last Day of Summer." But what stops Percy? His mother. His mother reminds him of who he really is, and he quickly moves into a while new melody. This truly shows the difference between Luke and Percy. Percy had someone there to support and love him. Luke didn't. Don't mind me. Just crying in the corner of my room.
This is MAGNIFICENT. The Waterland outfits (everyone forgets about that iconic af plot point and it makes me sad!!!), showing how the trio are so smol and young during the events of this book, the character designs as a whole, the spectacular visuals of the bubble portals and Poseidon embracing Percy as he defeats Ares…this is just exquisite. Thank you so much for making this incredible art and sharing it with all of us, we have no choice but to stan!
OMG the Waterland reference in Percabeth's shirts was inmaculate, it appears in the book but not in the musical. Basically, in the book, Ares doesn't take the crew to Las Vegas on his motorcycle. He instead asks them to retrieve his shield from an abandoned water park called Waterland (he lost it there during a failed date with Aphrodite). After they bring the shield, he gets the crew onto the back of Maurice's Truck (he's an animal smuggler), since the truck was going to Las Vegas anyways. I love that part of the book because they helped a zebra, a lion and an antelope escape from that truck to a safe place using the Satyr's Sanctuary Blessing
3:27 I cannot express how much of a masterpiece this part to the end of the video is. Percy finally learning to accept his dad as part of who he is and having the confidence to show Ares who's boss. The music alone is great, but your art truly captured the emotional climax of this song. You are a very talented individual and I'm sending you all my love!

This is amazing, no two words about it. Especially loved the smaller details, like the poseidon symbol flashing on the conch shell, the green tinted eyes and then going to full on green later, and the waterland tee.
At first they were all "oh but it's the underworld.. noones come back alive" but in later books it's more like " *AYYYEE UNCY HADES HOW YOU DOIN* How's Cerberus? We brought him a ball!"

I love coming back to this animatic because it’s just so well done! I love all the details throughout the animatic referencing the book, but my favorite part that you did has to be the end of the fight with Ares. I don’t know if this was purposeful or not, but right after Percy hits Ares with the gigantic wave, the smaller waves appear to look like hands wrapping around him, almost like his dad is giving him a hug after claiming him. I think I love that so much because throughout this musical, Percy has believed that his dad didn’t care about him, but right at this moment, he’s realized his dad truly does care for and support him. Again, this is an amazing animatic, and I am so happy that you made it.

THE LIGHTING HOLY-- all the shadows and shifts in the glow TO THE MUSIC is soooo goood!!! and all their expressions, Percy's lopsided smile, his and Annabeth's wink, the sword transformation and angle shifting down to point!!! and then the colour of the water and his eyes aaurgghh SO GOOOD love this so much thank you!!
