True, piano is a symbol of classy music and good vibes, but just because someone comes a long and recreates the image of playing the piano, doesn't make him a freak!!!! Good music is NOT what the public interrupt, good music is music that sounds and looks amazing, Eric Lewis has taken this song, written for GUITAR and turned it into an amazing piano piece.

Absolutely brilliant! Really conveys the passion and fury behind Eric's music, and very well produced. Almost as fun to watch as it is to listen to, great work!

Some of the sickest piano playing I've heard in years. The video seems hollow, but that piano is just decimating my speakers. I love this.

I think the piano playing is beautiful, and I understand this video as an expression of his inner feelings and I applaud him for being so balls to the wall about it even though I'm not quite sure I understand his full intentions.

Firstly, I love Eric Lewis. That said, this video was disappointing because his live performances are so awesome -- yet this video is the equivalent of lip-syncing. Eric, please make a super high quality video, like this, but of a *live* performance. Thank you!

Beyond words. We are witnessing something amazing. Our grandchildren will hear legends of the Great Elew, but I think sadly, they will have a hard time believing that such raw intelligent passion could have ever existed in the human flesh. Genius like this doesn't stay sane for long. Bask in his light while he still graces us with his presence on Earth!

@Protozoo79 actually if you've ever listened to him speak about why he performs modern contemporary music with an improvisational spin as opposed to classical and jazz standards, it's because he became so involved in the music that he began feeling disconnected with society today. He felt he had gone as far as he could and that it was time to bring it to modern contemporary music and do something no one has ever done before. It has nothing to do with money, and everything to do with the music.

You are awesome!LOVE the way you play. I'm portuguese but i'll try to say what I feel in english: The fusion of you and the piano results in an explosive wave of cosmic energy that shocks us, dazzles, delights and crushes us! It is the perfect combination of technique, audacity, beauty, elegance and explosive force! Words are limited to describe the visceral sensations, stormy and liberating that this "two in one" give us.I sincerely hope that the world recognize your greatness before you die.

I play piano and I absolutely love his music. He plays with a lot of emotion and plays his music his way. There are a lot of technical pianists out there. It takes feelings deep inside you to play the way he does. Amazing!

It is very difficult to create a music video for a piece with no words and this is a tribute to the director's creativity. Not a conventional music video by any means, and with very little repetition of footage it is an interesting view. I look forward to how it is received in the wider community.

I'm sorry but you do not understand music very much.Elew began studying and practicing classical music and jazz on piano at 2 years old! He starded playing with known jazz musicians at 13. But he is a genius, so he decided to create a new musical style that uses the techniques of classical music, jazz, rock and pop. If you cannot see these techniques in this music, go and see he’s original one “thanksgiving”
This man is the Master. He can play everything he wants.I saw him playing Beethoven!!!

I remember stumbling across your brilliance at Ted.com and being blown away by your performance. It was an emotional journey I'll never forget -- peace and serenity battling it out with the forces of rage and confusion. I really appreciate your loyalty towards your own character and identity despite the status quo or politics. You're a real inspiration on so many levels.

anyway i don't get it ...everyone keeps saying "be yourself" and don't set boundaries to what you can do then start dissing you..let's face it, society doesn't handle it very well when your rebel to what it wants you to do.
THUMBS UP to this man and everyone who is ready to follow his dreams no matter how other people see them.

To me both music and video are great, though I don't understand why he forces himself to play without a seat and with that armor vambraces which could cause problems in wrists mobility... but hey, he's the one who plays, how we'd say in Italy, "cazzi suoi"!

It is absolutely a nice work. However it does not move me very much musically and there is so much hype around Eric. I think he is a good pianist and very Blessed to have such reception, marketing and production. I only wish our musical community could recognize that there are quite a few brilliant artist that could change the world together if they over looked. There is a lot wrong with the industry when so many are passed over.

Well Beethoven was pretty much the same as this guy? Or Chopin? Or Mozart? Or any other great musicians. Just becuase he does karate doesnt make him a freak. It makes him unique, it makes him something special. This guy created a whole new genre of music and your saying he's retarded? When you put up something as amazing as this, whether that be beating the piano to a pulp or playing smoothly, then I'll believe that what you are saying is true.

The music is great, in the spirit of classic reductions for piano of any orchestral work.
On the oher hand, if you are transmiting the message, specially to young musicians, that is "cool" to play the grand standing on your feet all the time, with your face saying "I'm just ran away from the psychiatric hospital", well...thanks again, MTV?.
The metalic armour has some more than stetic sense, to add weight to the arm for heavy sound I suppose

  • @jacoblein2118
    @jacoblein2118 10 років тому +3

#Blackout987, as a musician it is important to be open minded. With all due respect, you are being very narrow minded. With all the faces that he makes, that his just him into his music. People have told me my eyes roll when I play. As far as his playing, yeah it does sound a little "Hammery" but he still has amazing talent, all of the techniques he's using and such. I think he is an inspiration. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.
