I just don't think things pop out, out of nowhere, therefore math does have some inherent connection to "the universe" through human beings (as far as we know). Doesn't materialism come into play here? Humans are of the universe and they change their behavior based on their material conditions. I think there's always some higher level of determinism at play. I don't really know much about this stuff, but this video was definitely a motivator to read into it.
