I’ve tried the food .. their outlet is in Hiranandani Powai. It’s actually quite good and not at all comparable to thela’s. It’s meant for the multiplex type audience , if wow momo and corn brands can become such a big thing , these guys can too. Only people in top 5 metros will pay for this that too in qsr format in multiplexes and food courts in malls. But could be thing as the food is damn tasty.
Do they just use the maggi cake or the masala too? How much does the maggi lend the taste to the final dish? I am trying to understand if maggi is just a gimmick to sell their food.
@@nikhilreddy8550 they have some variants which use the masala as well but not all of them, some others have just the noodles , the texture of the Maggi is different and they replace the maggi noodles (without masala) in dishes which would use spaghetti noodles, Hakka noodles etc

Can we all also assume that probably they didn't have that intention to scale up further? Maybe that amount of sales was good enough for them - But since they came to the Tank, they got a very valid and blunt feedback.
No, we can't assume that, they clearly said at the start "Hamara goal hai isko India ka sabse bada concept restaurant banana". How can you even say they don't want to scale up, did you even focus on what they said? They said they want the funding to open 2 more restaurants

To give you perspective , if you ask any small food joint in your area that has only take away counter about their monthly sales its almost 6-7 lakhs on average. Some shops do a buisness of 40-50k per day... And these guys have proper restaurants seating facilities.. so its quite clear from the fact that their business doesn't attract customers even after lot of innovation on the menu.. they need to diversify from maggi to other cuisines which they clearly don't want to as they said
I personally feel that instead of a restaurant in a fancy and expensive places like Powai(where monthly rent could be around 2-3 lakhs). They could have hungry head franchise on a food truck at 5-10 places around the city or they could tie up with multiplexes.It will work better and they will earn more profit.

In my point of view, if the outlet are increased and the taste will not get changed if the main chef trained the trainee according to his vision, then i guess building other outlet is not bad idea, not all the time outlet need to depends upon the online market to get hit their business.
And what if the chef will start his own business instead of working under you.
@@shiv_shankar8723 you can give the proposal for franchies, because its their ideas of 80 varities of maggi presented, like give the franchise option to those who wanted to self invest. And it doesn't even matter, because whoever exist from the early date will always have the advantage to sustain and spread their market no matter how many of them comes later, until and unless they have some better customisation ideas.

Ok i got what you mean to say, yeah everyday we dont eat maggi i agree, the thing is about probability, you eat maggi on sunday, and i eat maggi on monday, so continuously it goes on like somebody want to eat on thursday, so outlet will be pack all the time. Its the advantage for just food business, it wont implement to other sort of business. Hope you get what i mean to say
It's not about the consistency in the taste bro, what the sharks wanted to convey is that already the restaurant they're operating is making them bear a lot of Overhead expenses...
That's why their net margin is so low, and if they build 2 more outlets, their sales won't be as much as they're making right now(as acquiring a new customer base at a new location is a gradual and uncertain process and if they open another outlet in a nearby locality, their already existing customer base only will get distributed rather than new customers joining in)which in itself is too low, but the overheads will increase proportionately. This will only turn their meager profit margin into a loss margin, and thus they won't be able to survive.
i feel they have done a great job , they way they took harsh words and critisism shows how professional behaviour they have, hats off to them
It's very clear, running a business with more emotions and less logic, might become successful only in bollywood. Reality is what Ashneer knows, so it's better to learn from him.

he's talking about the theli walas and in Mumbai I don't think much investment is required for a theli and as aman said this is just a sophisticated Maggie shop, btw I'm from Uttarakhand and ashneer is right about the revenues of these maggie thelas in hill station and I like what Anupam said you guys should do something else

Franchising it to small shops or carts would be only be a viable business model or setting up shops in Gas stations around the higways. Plus I wouldn't go out to eat and order a Maggie! This can never be a fine dining experience.
Sharks missed the crucial point that people who want to eat Maggie can make at home in 2 mins and they are satisfied with it (else can vary it a bit also easily). No one is going to a restaurant to eat Maggie or order one for 5-10x the price. So, the competition is with 1. Self-cooking and 2. On pricing with carts. Turning into a cold cake can be prevented. Eating at a cart is in most cases an on-the-go decision (you see and buy), and it's successful for only low-cost low-price products. Maggie, even the fanciest version, can sell for at most 50 to 60 Rs and those prices can only be achieved profitably on a cart. This is the same reason, there are no restaurants that sell "only samosa" or "only bhelpuri", a restaurant needs items that can be charged in the 100s.

Looking at the Maggie in those bowls I can say that it looks firm and each strand is separated with some sort of spiced powder. Definitely looks different than your average road side Maggie and would love to try it

Simply put - to be a venture-backed business, there are certain margins and revenue potential you need.
Proud of them for their passion - but they need to strengthen their business fundamentals. At 5-5.5L per month their max valuation for a resturant business is 1.2 cr -1.5cr max (being generous for their innovative concept) with a 2x-2.5x multiple on sales.
They need to increase revenue of their location and then work on reducing costs to increase profits - once they have a profitable 2-3 locations they can look at franchising to scale.

Everything looks so real on the show except for one thing that they always praise the product, because if they'd say k tera burger ganda hai, no one would buy it afterwards. So its more about publicity and promotion.
