Thankyou Ohlins for inviting The Girl on a bike to tour your facility in Sweden. All bikers have heard of you , but now I have seen why we have such good riding bikes. Thanks so much for sharing and making this video. Looking forward to future episodes.
Thank you for sharing another great video Vanessa. Happy New Year to you, your partner, and the new little baby Vanessa, best wishes for many happy days (and Kms) ahead! 👍👍
This presentation would have been more informative if an Ohlins employee with the correct technical background was present to explain the product in more detail so the potential consumers can understand why they would want to buy their suspension.
I totally hear you but if you wanted an Ohlin marketing speak you can just go to their channel. I had their team with me to make sure I was saying the right details, we did some in death training for the series. I hope you enjoy
@@TheGirlOnABikehaha death training love it, started using Ohlin 1979 on dirt bikes it's great stuff always fancied a set of forks but they were way out of my price level, good comment by you" grubby Vanessa marks " thanks for the video
Their reputation is well established for decades, but if you don’t believe the tests or the multiple victories, go try yourself. Drive a bike with Öhlins and take an alternate suspension. The difference is stunning.
Hi Vanessa, wow there is a lot of work and quality going in a motorcycle rear shock, I'm not surprised they have such a good reputation, They probably don't make one for my old bike, Hope you and baby skyla and hubby are well. Best wishes Roy 😊.
Well they dont make the springs at Öhlins there actually we made them at Lesjöfors springs factory and i used to work there and made all the springs for them and the motorcykle range springs and that reals were the magic happens making the springs
That's awesome. It's been incredible realising the detail that goes into a shock. They have an incredible supply chain for all the parts. Thanks for sharing your experience
It's not only ABBA, Roxette, Volvo/SAAB cars, buses, trucks, Aircraft, adjustable wrench, SKF ball-bearings, Hasselblad camera (moon photos), Sandvik steel, Björn Borg, the Bofors anti-aircraft gun, the Archer artillery system, Nobel prize (dynamite) etc that we invented and produce. Yeah, it makes me proud to be Swedish! 🇸🇪
I inherited my Uncles 1972 CZ 400 MX bike sans the Ohlins shocks. Found out they were worth almost as much as the bike, so pilfered. I am not the racer he was so will putt on what I got but they are the epitome of what vintage racers want from what I have learned.
I worked for Girling, in the "damper" department, working on the single spindle automatic lathes producing the damper rods, which then were centreless ground and hard chrome plated, we made twintube shocks for every British bike manufacturer and then monotube of the Decarbon design, of which this design is the one most dampers are made to. Our gas shocks were the kit back in the mid seventies and Swedish Husqvarna specified our gas shocks along with Meridan Triumph. Lucas who owned Girling broke up the damper business to concentrate on heavy duty truck braking systems and car braking systems with the motorcycle damper business sold to Hagon for a few £grand. Happy days! The failure of the once mighty Brit bike industry, we had no one to flog them to, and this was in the pre global economy days, Italy as a manufacturer of motorcycles was failing, no way would the Japanese big four even entertain so much as talking to Girling about supplying shock absorbers, so we were stumped as an OE supplier, there wasn't the hype over Moto GP style sports bikes back then so the market now inhabited by the likes of Ohlins didn't exist. Girling was a fantastic company to work for and now at 65 I work as a contract prototype toolmaking company to the three foreign owned companies that bought out the Girling factories here in Torfaen south Wales. Great video btw 😀😀
I worked at a company when I started that did not put serial numbers on certain equipment. I soon changed that mind set, so we could do a full QA check on what was being produced. They did not have a shop loading plan and relied on the managers to sort out the sequence of what went into the shop. It was so bad that they would not put through the same product all at the same time. The inefficiency was terrible.
It’s you mate. Can you not see those 2 strange dots above the “O”? Quite obviously, they alter the sound of the letter, it isn’t something we have in English, but we could certainly make use of them/the concept. It would completely end the problem of people not knowing how to correctly pronounce words. There’s too much in English which has to be known beforehand, or else you’ll be wrong. Example, Worcestershire. For anyone who’s unfamiliar with the word/place, no logic or reasoning would EVER lead to the correct pronunciation of “woosta-sheer”. Or Edinburgh being pronounced as “edin-boro”. This all stems from English not having enough letters in our alphabet so that each letter/letter-vowel combination having one and ONLY one way to be pronounced. Or like fiction being pronounced “fik-shon”. Hopefully you’re starting to get the idea.
And this is why you will never be a Barry, Eddie Valantino,... The data they have from testing alone, they then built for temp and altitude. DOWN TO THE TEMP THE DAY THEY MAKE THE SPRINGS. We get average weight per consumer off the shelf bikes. That means over sprung bikes for you ladies. Want to Fall in love with your bike all over again, have your suspension done. We all played with a spring as a kid once, the energy stored is crazy.. controlling it is insane. Having your forks rebuilt for you will make you feel like a new bike. Don't go get your bike set up for a camping trip when you don't camp but once a year. Rough it! Have all your daily crap with you have a home for it Once you have a bike set up for you, try to ride the same bike if you can and you will wonder how you did before. Every suspension shop has the same set up basically. If they don't walk away. We are far from putting 125 suspensions on a 250.... day's so a girl could ride it. Have fun everyone in 2025 treat yourself to a suspension tune.
best money spent on all 3 my bikes Ohlins TTX long travel rally spec KTM 720RFR (tried back to back with WP conevale & Tractive rally spec) Ohlins shits on it. KTM 950SE Rally KTM 1290 SE
The full R&D development programme involves many hours of time in vehicles in a huge range of conditions but in house they also put them through a machine insight that puts upwards of 30k hours on them for testing. You can see it here instagram.com/reel/DBjYtpCM_N8/?igsh=cmRkaGlmcHdzdXJ1

Aw lovely comment. Thank you. It's my pleasure
A well presented tour! Amazing production line. Seem very in-house. I was not expecting this. I now see the price tag is justified. Thank you.
Thanks for watching! That's exactly what I thought. It is amazing to understand how they are made hey
You’re a natural Vanessa. Great presentation. So cool to see where my bike shocks were made 👍
Thanks John. Super appreciate your kind words
Nice tour, very well presented, but since we are in Sweden, I think you meant coffee brake 😊 or maybe, just maybe Fika ❤
Haha yeah

@bugs It is a factory tour from this woman, not a selling / pure marketing video… be possitive in life..

Thanks Roy. It's an impressive process hey. They do custom set ups too if you wanted to find a solution
Awesome clip! Thanks for the tour! 🤘🏼😝🤘🏼

Thanks for your input!! I have Ohlins forks and shock on my CR500 and XR650R. So comfortable and handling is sublime.

Very interesting and enjoyable video well presented thanks
Love seeing behind the scenes of products I’ve used over the years. Haven’t Brembo just bought Ohlins ?
Yeah they sure have. Could mean some exciting new opportunities for the brands

Wow that's made cool! Haha the heritage is mega
In Upplands Väsby , around the corner...Knew Kent when he started at his dad's mechanical workshop. in Edsberg

I remember girling shocks on a triumph 500 that I rode all over the west in the 60s before I got drafted i really liked that bike

Nice tour, but nothing new here. Was in 1988 at the Proflex workshop, they already had a shock dyno back then.
Can you get Ohlins to make the shock kit for the Suzuki TL1000R if I get an order together for like 10 of the kits? They abandoned us!!
Didn't see anything 😢
That's shocking !!
Haha love it
Interesting... but we could do without the "exposed" title., whats that about, you should be glad you were given the opprtunity.
You never did answer my question about the airbag vest. Did you wear the vest while traveling in India?
KTM use WP (in-house) suspension…. No word about Öhlins being owned by Brembo brake company. Just saying, not criticising.
Yeah it will be interesting to see what the new ownership leads too. Exciting times for them I would suspect
can someone explain the correct pronunciation I thought the correct pronunciation was o hlins not as she pronounced it oo hlins or is me.
It's not an O, it's an Ö. Sounds more like 'Uh'.
