- The digital Sony Walkman SRF-M37V AM FM TV Weather Band headset portable radio offers much to the operator. An Instant Weather Band button that will lock in on the strongest station to keep you up to date on changing conditions. The FM is great for locals only, and the AM light ups the night with amazing sensitivity and selectivity. All running on a single AAA!

Features I like about this radio:
AM sensitivity is great during the evening hours, even logged a new station with this radio.
FM stereo is decent on strong locals.
Instant Weather Band access.
Digital Tuning.
Dedicated Preset Buttons.
Built in Clock.
Runs on a single AAA battery.
Belt clip is very useful, and I'm usually not a fan of them. This one is done right.
Sony build quality.
It's a Sony.
Features I'm not to excited about:
FM Selectivity isn't great.
AM Selectivity suffers during the day if your trying to find distant stations.
Overall, I am still a huge fan of the analog tuned varieties, such as the SRF-49 & 39s. They represent the best overall bargain. This radio just makes tuning the bands easier by being digital, and having access to presets to take you quickly to your favorite stations.

I found one in my husband's dresser "junk" drawer recently. Almost tossed it, put a AAA in it and I can't believe it still works. The sound quality for the FM is excellent. I can't hear much on AM just static, same with the weather band and TV. Amazing little device. Will find more comfortable headphones and wear it when I walk. Thanks for sharing!
I was just talking about this radio last night.. I used to have one of these. Pretty crazy when it popped up on my phone.
I still have the one I bought around 15 years ago to use at work. They have great AM reception.
I found this in good will for $10 loved it ever since. I found the same in another goodwill for $11 grabbed it and smiled. Both were brand new in the packaging. Comes with the best overhead headphones. My selectivity on this was excellent. Headset was the antenna. I haven't even opened the newer one yet. No need.
They have a fairly high price on eBay UK packaged
I’d grab another ,in a heartbeat!
they sell around 200.00 and 250 .00 dollars used!!!! (july 2022)
Lucky duck!
@@caoimhin7122 I found one for 25.00 dollars but this guy got luckier!!
A very popular little radio.
They sold tons of these.
I think I paid 25(?) for mine - in excellent condition, with headphones, and printed instructions.
Mine does very well on AM(MW) for such a small radio.
Some years ago, C.Crane actually sold these $34.95, in their 2008 catalog.
“ BEST AM reception among pocket radios without a built-in speaker.....”
(is how they advertised it).
If you can find a good one, go for it. These are great little radios - very well made.
📻🙂
I bought one around 2010 to use at the beach on Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach. FM sounded great and there was always an oldies station to tune in. Wish I could find it and use my new found tuning skills and enjoy it to a much fuller extent.
my heart did a small leap when i saw this image in my notifications. i had/have one of these for years (misplaced), and took it everywhere with me including my first trip to england.
i remember listening to seinfeld on the tv setting as i sat waiting for my plane at EWR, ha!
I had one as well and I think I left it on a camping trip.
obscure media dump 9 kHz tuning step change. There’s one with LW band as well.
In England, there’s no analog VHF TV band (PAL-I) in the 90s but now uses digital (DVB-T)
Hunter Carver I also use this walkman and wired antenna from Degen DE1103 connected both aux cableand an antenna. Aux cable connected to the car, as you can listen to TV band here in the Philipppnes until 2023. I enjoyed CNN PHILIPPINES on channel 9, GMA on Channel 7, etc...
I love this thing. I lost the clip on mine years ago though. So it's more of a pocket piece for me now, since you can lock the buttons and all.
I bought one of these from Walmart many, many years ago. I still have it. My headphones broke, which kind of made me sad because they were quite decent, made the bass a little better. I like the single AAA. If you use alkaline batteries, they are cheap and I'd get a lot of life out of one. Nowadays, when I pull it out, I usually use a NiMH, still gives great life. The one thing that bugs me about it is the beep every time you change stations. But other than that, a great around town radio. I used to wear mine on the bus and walking to class when I went back to college in my 30s. Excellent for what it is meant for, which is around town.
That was a camping radio used for many travels. Sits in tote now, becoming collectable it seems.
I found one in a drawer just the other day. Replaced the batteries and it works great.
Battery ;-)
Found mine , slapped power in and away we go! Great sounds and great reception which if I watched this video I would have known , super cool and super great radio!
I’ve been using one of these for years, to listen to talk radio in bed, when I can’t sleep… recently the on/ off has become difficult… I bought a C Crane pocket as a replacement…
Weatherband sounds like a normal FM radio . For TV band, I set my Retekess FT11 FM transmitter to 81.7 FM and set TV band on channel 5 on walkman and it works.
In 1997,i buy am,fm radio sony in laox akihabara tokyo, when i work in jpn, im shock that until now sept 1 2023,still in good function w aaa batery, always removed the baterry when not in used . Help me to sale in my home town, davao city, phil
I owned this radio. LOVE IT!!
Hi there its raymond great video years ago l had a sony walkman radio cassette really great sound with top Quality headphones and l had many cheaper walkmans and l still use a sony portable c d player which still works well thats when sony made top radios walkmans and stereo systems l have a walkman made in japan 1980 great stuff
Note that this is a PLL-tuned radio, before the DSP days.
,I bought one of these before our k mart Went out of business one of the best radios I ever bought used it like crazy finally buttons stoped working and broke clip had
Yes, I fear that’s what’s happening to mine…starting with the on/off
As surface mount technology gets smaller and smaller maybe Sony can find space for a second battery. Otherwise it funnels AM DX pretty good
Nice review, I just picked one up. Pardon my ignorance but how do you hook it up to a speaker?
Great video, I think it’s cool how you know all those stations off the top of your head, and how many miles they are away. 😊
I have a cheat sheet in case I forget ;)
Hey Todd! I like it!
The Sony SRF-M37 is unbelievable, but only if you use Panasonic HT-21 headphones and are 350 feet above sea level and it is at least 10:30 pm eastern time. Elevation is essential, then you can hear stations all over the eastern half of the U.S. Have no ribar or concrete in the construction of your house. Near Courthouse Road in Arlington, VA, I get US, Canadia, Cuba stations, but you have got to be say 350 feet above sea level. That's on AM. Oh, and forget to click the little switch on the side for DX. NOA weather? Forget it.
Got one of these NEW in 2013 for $30 but I have the newer non-tv version
I agree it’s not quite as good as the Sony srf-39,49 or 59 but it is a very good radio. I always find myself grabbing it for a jog or walk or to listen to a Reds game on 700 WLW. Also the Weather Band works good in my area. The presets and hold button make it easy, and it is a Sony what else can you say.
So you mentioned the poor selectivity...that is why you are getting the same weather on all channels. Where I live we only get channel 4 on a good weather radio with good selectivity. The channels are really close together, so with this Sony, you get them all at once!
I got one of those radios but no tv band on it. Gosh I miss analog tv. I hope someone can come up with a AM FM DTV Weather band radio. THAT WOULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE!
Chris Wideman First DTV 1SEG RECEIVER is from Japan spec Sony and Panasonic AM/FM/DTV Sound (ISDB-T 1SEG).
It's not one of the better Sony Walkmans, but it's still decent. If it wasn't for the beep at the end of each band, it would be a perfect ghost box. To it's credit, it only needs one AAA battery and the AM band can surprise me at night. Overall, not a bad radio.
My brother had been storing my dads in a drawer for years and I used it because I got curious, nothing comes out, it works but the channels don’t work
Is there any way to get rid of the irritating bip sound during stations change? Thx 🙏
Not that I know of.
@@todderbert I have searched a lot but have not find anything… But choice from Sony for a very nice device…
Please tell me how I can turn off the walkman
Cool
I found one these today for 4 dlrs. I looked them up and they are 149.00 on ebay now
Buenas
Mi walkman se bloqueo sin tener activado el hold.
Que puedo hacer para solucionarlo
Did you saw my recent video
You have the same radio as i do, but i don't have the Tv band.
