In this clip, Ladon “Beast” Simon opened up about the regrets he has for his time in the drug game and why he thinks he should’ve stayed in school and pursued baseball. While he expressed that he isn’t proud of what he did, Simon also pointed out how much responsibility the government has in getting his community hooked on drugs.
I respect what he said and he gave an honest assessment of the factors. He's basically saying the government put it out there and basically set it up knowing the conditions would make a certain percentage sell it. You shut down the plants and then drop something in the area that can make people more in a day than they get in a month working and they already factor in what percentage will do it. Sure he didn't have to do it because many didn't but they know that many will. So he's taking responsibility for being in the percentage that fell to the destruction while still bringing light to how they set it up.
So I can't act like they all were monsters. They were just predictable. So they don't have to look at themselves as dirt but just realized they got played and like he said hang onto the fact that you at least did some good with the money. You've got Ladon who was a known menace who feels bad about. But Johnny Curry from Detroit sat there and said he doesn't regret anything he did. He seemed like a cool guy during the interview but that part I found pretty sad.

It's so much easier to look at things when you get older because when i was out there selling drugs i didn't feel anything. When you go to jail you realize it's all monopoly money. You don't get to take the money into adulthood it just feels like you was playing a game and got played. It's hard to preach to young folks because they seen you out there doing it and now they feel it's their turn. Seems like a cycle that will never end.

It's pretty clear that Lamar is an exaggeration. Ladon Simon is in fact more well spoken, intelligent and solid than MOST of these so called gangsters. And he also feels a lot more sympathetic than his on-screen counterpart.
