- I've seen a few of Jojo's gameovers, but not all the characters, so I figure I'll upload all the characters that were in the arcade version of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
Note: N'doul and Death-13's continue screen on the arcade is glitched, just to let you all know.

I was always terrified by this game over screen when I was younger. But now that I know the characters and the story and everything, I personally think a more terrifying game over screen would’ve been a horrific scene of Dio about to kill and drain your character’s blood.

He says that a ton in part 3, while he primarily says "Oh no!" in part 2. I'd say they got it right in this game.

I love how appropriate it is that they used D'Arby and Osiris for the game over, because the ability steals the opponent's soul when they're defeated and/or have spiritually given up, which is appropriate considering the case in which you stop continuing playing.

Anyone notice that there is no unique sprite for after the chip falls over? It's really obvious with Shadow Dio and Animal Shop.

I watched the part where daniel D'arby took the souls of the people who lost his game and remade them into poker chips for his collection, which is very similar to the game over sequence that follows through every character.
(His stand is Osiris by the way for those who don’t know)

- this sure is a creepy game over... i'm glad i just found out about this as a 17 year old because little kid me would have been so freaking terrified that i cry and look away from the screen and cover my ears trying not to hear the cries of the characters
- I can't be the only one who thinks the music makes this screen a bit creepier?

- i don't get why they made the actual people turn into poker chips, when in the anime/manga osiris actually extracts people's *souls* and turns them into chips, not the actual people themselves

I understand that Death 13 was obviously hacked into the game but the concept of their Game Over doesn't make much sense, it doesn't seem natural to turn a Stand into a Poker Chip rather than the Stand User

Okay, Osiris has the ability to extract the souls of someone and turn the SOUL into a poker chip, not the actual person themeselves. As such, it's very well possible that if the stand was playing against him, the stand could be transformed if they lost, since a stand is the soul's manifestation.
And I'm pretty sure D'arby wouldn't crush mannish boy

if you lose a game then D'arby will add you to his poker chip collection. And he's also a cheater as well but the only way his stand can make it count is if said cheat is not caught. this can also work in his opponent's favor.
Thank you folks for explaining the game over... it was a bit weird to look at. I understood some big thing rushed in and turned the player into a disc of some sort, and I knew that the guy with the cat probably had something to do with it, but I still didn't fully understand.
Am I the only one who felt upset for not letting whatever the animal was, I'm guessing a dog win?
