He made the same mistake everyone else is making, which is trying to counter Chris G's fireball game ONLY. Chris is the match-up king, he actually drops his Soul Fist strategy when he knows it won't work so well. If you're not preparing yourself for all the other options he's willing to go to as well, you'll end up being put in a hopeless position, like Champ was the whole set

The way he moves with her, the way he cancels fireballs, his ability to pace the match switching from keepaway to rushdown, is perfect. I think it's unfair to call it mindless. It looks simple, but it's far from it.

i think building meter is fine but it should be staggered or decay throughout astal vision so she could only build < one meter per vision or maybe she can't call assists, idk there are already a lot of bars held on astral vision, she can't use meter or tag out without losing her illusion
i dont follow umvc that much, but i never thought i would see someone rushing lvl 3 dark phoenix. chrisg is a beast, not even worried about 5bars/snapping her in, wow.

To me doom is the problem as for Morrigan zoning is fine it's just the astral vision combined with he zoning needs to be balanced out a little bit like if she gets hit she looses it,gains less meter while activated or shorter period or a activation.

Like, I rarely ever see anyone complain about zoning in Street Fighter because it's always been part of the game: how many people complain when Dieminion does well with Guile?

it's a b&b, if you can't easily be consistent with a b&b, it's difficult. the only character i can think of that has a similar execution curve is zero and the only person who had consistent sougenmu loops was mihe.
Not only that, the team working on umvc3 is scattered everywhere inside the company. It would cost them millions to gather the team again instead of letting those people work on other projects for stopping ONE player who is good with one character. Not gonna happen.
Because they can do better but would rather play for character loyalty than to really try and win. When Ultimate first came out, Champ would beat people with Phoenix and constantly mock how people said Phoenix was nerfed and bad now. It's clear he wants to "prove" to people that you can win with Phoenix. Right now, if you're a tournament player who wants to win, you need a team that can beat Morrigan/Doom. Doesn't have to be a main team, but you need to have it there.
Heres how to nerf this team considerably, missiles disappear if Doom is hit. If you notice on a lot of Chris matches he gets caught in a happy birthday, only to have those missiles save him. Notice how he just repeatedly summons Doom, mindlessly, sure his flight cancels with morrigan are tough, but the fact of the matter is, he is not thinking much when mounting his offense. That is an indicator that something is wrong.

Molecular Shield: Potentially cover your back from the Astral Vision shots. Could be enough for Hawkeye to take the shot. The issue is the Hidden Missles, so Doom has to die ASAP still.
It is not Chris G's fault that Champ F wasted the first round.... everyone knew Dorm has a better chance against Morrigan. And I've seen plenty of fights that Chris G dominates with non-Morrigan. His Akuma and Dr. Doom are amazing.
I think what needs to happen is that we should go back to the Vanilla days of waiting for Dark Phoenix level 3 so Viscant and Flocker can mash crouch L to victory all day long again.
Because she was bullshit in vanilla mvc3 and got nerfed in ultimate which never got an update. Plus she's not even an issue in the competitive scene, people who still play her you can count with the fingers of one hand, and with the game so advanced where there's so many setups and ways to fuck up a phoenix team, you're accepting a risk when you pick her at the character select screen, even Fchamp said in stream a couple days after losing to Chris that he shouldn't have picked her.

If I recall correctly, F Champ and Dios were in some tournament awhile back. F Champ lost to him in the semis, got sent to losers and then won the lsoers bracket. He faced Dios in the finals and beat him, then basically ragged on him for having no skill. The funny thing is he was on camera belittling this guy who was in the finals for having no skill, and was visibly butt-devastated the entire time he was talking. Thats Marvel but if every character had high endurance the matches would be way way too long since you have to fight 3 characters back to back and even in GG you have Infinites and 90-80% combos.
Theres no point in playing a tournament in anything if one side is going to play the way chris g plays. These tournaments are about bringing your skills and challenging others. Playing the way he does defeats the purpose. Yes, its a good strategy TO WIN, but lets be honest, the hardest thing hes doing is moving his hands around without much brain needed.

Cheap =/= unfair. It may be boring, it may be repetitive and stale -- even unfair -- but it brings in results. Personally, I wouldn't get irate -- mad and/or less-than maybe -- about his playstyle if I lost to him. I'd try every combination of teams possible until I beat his shite.
If a real, skilled player doesn't win EVO this year, I'm done with Marvel. Capcom won't patch it and I won't humor players who win from cheap zoning/spamming/broken tactics.
