isn’t it insane how britney spears has influenced an entire generation of artists? from female pop stars, to r&b girls, to male pop singers such as charlie puth. How can anyone question her legend status at this point?

I hate that their comments are desperately trying to shallow what he is trying to express about her musicality. “Was it her outfit”? What does that have to do with his musicality or hers? What an idiot. It’s not funny. It’s annoying. It’s like... grow up! You have a real artist there discussing the iconic work of one of the most iconic recording artists in music history. I don’t think this group of people has the professional chops to do this interview justice. So sad.
I've always noticed that overlapping choruses in Britney's songs, all her songs that were produced by Max Martin have that.
I don't listen to this generation music, but this interview made me change my mind about Charlie, I have his albums and the boy is a freaking genius and he also uses the same overlapping thing in his songs and he does very well.

I had that exact same reaction when I first listened to "Baby one more time" it has the same chorus overlapping effect at the end of the song. it was a mind blowing experience.

They actually do the chorus b/chorus a overlap in baby one more time too. Baby and oops follow a pretty similar formula. The main difference is that in baby, chorus B is in the foreground of the final chorus combo, and in oops it’s chorus A. Good stuff!

Lol I get that the guy was attempting a corny joke but it also seemed like a little bit of a diss to how that era of pop wouldn't work today, even if Charlie did it. I'm glad Charlie made that remark back to him. Honestly, this little scenario is kind of ironic because his kind of music truly stands out compared to most other modern music in that it doesn't sound like most of today's songs, of course, in a unique and good way! I think Charlie is going to lead a new wave of modern music into the 20's! Go Charlie Puth!
I don't know why classical music composers get a bad rep for being broke. I mean, sure you don't get the same money as a successful global pop artist, but there is so much work. Who does Elvis think composes music for TV, Video Games, Films? Those people also earn a good living and still get to make music.
But it's the truth. Charlie would not be as popular that way because it doesn't fit the current landscape of pop. Compare how many kids today would listen to Ariana VS Mozart/Opera. He would make more money on the former.
