Marko Saaresto's voice is amazing! "Carnival of Rust", "Daze", "Choice Millionare", "False Kings", "The Sweet Escape" and "You Know My Name" (really incredible Chris Cornell Bond-theme cover). And many, many more... Thank you very much!
What a time to discover them. I wasn't a fan of their past 2 albums, but this song, along with the new album, sound like they'll be amazing. This band loves to experiment and do different sounds. I've seen others recommend Carnival of Rust already, and I will as well. I believe that that song and album are the peak of the band. Can't wait for your next reaction.
I’ll put it like this: Poets are the only band I ever bought merchandise from and in September I’ll be attending their gig in Cologne, which will be my first gig ever and I’ll be 36 years of age by that time. Their music has a soul and literally every song is worth it, because Poets of the Fall don’t do normal hear-it-and-forget-it stuff. They create beautiful things with meaning and purpose. Recommending songs is tuff as they are all fantastic, but I’ll try. Calm songs: Moonlight Kissed, Choir of Cicadas, All the Way 4U, Lust for Life, Weaver of Dreams. Heavy songs: Locking up the Sun (my favourite Poets song), Miss Impossible, Delicious, Running out of time, Psychosis
The whole mirror scene after the tarot reading when marko is taking all the makeup and costume props off and in the mirror the harlequin becomes increasingly more distraught until finally completely breaking down crying and disappearing! Then Marko cheers himself with the wine class towards the mirror. Gives us that sweet smile of his and walks away!😻 I legit got chills🥶the first time I saw the harlequin persona starting to panic and cry in the mirror! SO GOOD!🎸🔥🤡🔥🎸 They are my favorite band of all time (little bias since I am Finnish) and this has become my favorite song from them! I definitely urge you to check out the Carnival of Rust music video. The song is their biggest hit (like 5x-6x times bigger than their next big hits) and in 2006 the music video was chosen as the best Finnish music video ever made
You absolutely must check out Daze; amazing song and stellar video. Carnival of Rust is also a must-see. False Kings, King of Fools, Sweet Escape - all wonderful. Temple of Thought is a personal favorite I haven’t seen anyone mention yet. But honestly , you can’t really go wrong with these guys. Marko’s voice is in a class of its own (which is not by any means to say that the rest of the band aren’t also top notch).
And just like that, Poets gained another fan. I am glad you liked them. They been around a good while but I never heard of them myself until their song Carnival of Rust. After that song, they got me and I been trying to introduce some others to their music. Someone already stated these but yes, check out Carnival of Rust, Choice Millionaire, Daze, Cradled in Love, Lift, Dark Disquiet. All have music videos and all of them sound different. No two songs of theirs sound the same. No two albums are the same. Have fun and enjoy.
The Analysis/Explanations of the Elements & Symbols of the video and song can be listened from here: "Poets of the Fall Analysis | Requiem for My Harlequin" - ua-cam.com/video/z0rdgVt9MQk/v-deo.html
Loads of people have already recommended some songs, also listen to Temple of Thought, Shallow, War, Given and Denied- but the one you should definitely listen to- as recommended by so many others is Carnival of Rust. That is something else.
Listen to everything on their new album Ghostlight. Maybe the best showcase for his voice on that album is Hello Cabaret. Also check out the "Daze" video from the album Jealous Gods.
If you do this one, a different but interesting take would be to do the album version and then the theater version and comment on it. I think is worth the experiment
I loved your reaction. Please do react to Carnival of rust mv, Daze mv, False Kings mv, You know my name, Lift mv, and Carnival of rust, Lift and Sleep from their Moscow concert 2013. They are fantastic live, but their music videos are also really really good. You should absolutely check their performances from the Alexander Threatre Sessions, with songs like Angel and another, fantastic version of Lift with just a piano and that voice.
Since there haven't (yet) another reaction from PotF i had to watch this again ;p I hope you can react to both versions of Angels the album version and the Accustic from the Alexander theater ^^

Angel (alexander theatre ) is their best song ever
To sum up his reaction in a nutshell: EMOTIONAL DAMAGE.
