The reason we find them funny is because we understand what happened in the war, and the effects. It's like learning a new word and seeing it's context in a book. It's a way to say 'I understand' by looking at humorous memes and laughing. Memes are just a way to connect the reader to the historical context as a remembrance to the past, there shouldn't be any drawbacks for laughing at memes.

I'd say around a million for the UK and the remaining 2,300,000 for the US.
