I've done this climb before at the fort Smith fire department PAT. It wasn't timed. I needed to go slow or I would have probably lost my composure a little bit. Lol
In my early 60's,I could still climb a 100ft aerial like a squirrel. We would test 21-30 year olds for hiring and they would get 1/2 the way up and their legs would be quivering they were so bad out of shape.Sitting on your ass all your life playing video games will do that to you.
My thing is this, I don't understand anyone wanting to be a firefighter having a fear of heights, tight quarters phobia or even scared of fire. Makes no sense to me, I have been a wildland and structural firefighter for 11 years now and have never been scared of any of it, now I respect the fire fire sure. Maybe because my previous background I was former marine for about 6 years and did 2 deployments right after 9/11, but I feel the generations are not as tough as they need to be to do the job. My take on it honestly, I am now a instructor and have watched so many new cadets loose it and walk away when we trap them in the confined space part of the maze blacked out. They immediately want out instead of trying to work there way through it.
@@damionjones8944 No disrespect sir but I'm a fighter and push through whatever fear I have. I'm not like those other probies/students. I don't not do something because I have a fear. I push through it and over come my fear. Witch is exactly what I did. I joined the hall because my dad has been in the fire service 20 years and I always looked up to him and wanted to do it with him.
Back in the '90's some of the departments I tested for had candidates climb the stick during the recruitment phase. Untrained candidates applying for the departments climbing with NO belay.
yes because nearly all fire stations do not own a boom lift, which would take hours or even a day to get from a rental company. fire stations sometimes have their own boom lift in a way, its a man basket on top of the ladder that is still able to control functions. i work for an equipment rental company dealing with fire trucks from all counties
You can get a straight stick like this into spots where a boom lift will not go, we use them for roof venting on sloped roofs. Gets a little dicey sometimes with wires.
Jesus Christ is Lord. He is the only way to eternal life. The first man, Adam, sinned, and after him, all humanity. Mankind was brought under the curse through Adam. So the Lord Jesus Christ had to take on flesh, and live the perfect life for us. He then died on the cross for our sins as our perfect substitute and rose from the dead on the third day in victory. In doing so, He frees the one who believes in Him from the curse and brings us under His representation, by which we are declared righteous before God. Further, it’s through His blood that He gives the believer power to live a new life, free from the slavery of sin. Everyone was born once (physically). That’s how you enter earthly life. But to receive eternal life, you must be born again (spiritually) - and that comes through the Lord Jesus Christ alone.
26 years ago, and i still remember as if it were yesterday. Legs were like jelly.
Was a great training back in my days in the 90s 😂 god bless to all brothers and sisters.
Do most aerials now a days use a belay system to protect climbers?
no just a ladder belt
I’m literally scared 💩less of heights, and I’m not looking forward to having to do this to get off probation
Would you climb to the top and lean back for $10 million?😨
Especially climbing up a firetruck ladder
@@kelvinharrison591retard
@@kelvinharrison591I’ll do it for 25k
Same... I heard they only do 50ft against a building now at my academy but yeah I'm terrified. No building is over 3 stories in my town 😂
Bruh my legs would be jelly, fear of heights sadly 😂congrats to everyone who can do this
What a thrill
With darkness and silence through the night…

Is this required to become a volunteer firefighter? Is it required in Firefighter 1?
Just close your eyes
It is a requirement in most departments paid or volunteer, I did it and loved it.
@@damionjones8944 Nah i gotta do this as a volunteer? 105 feet in the air? Still gonna try it though.
They had us repel off the top.
AIR ASSAULT 🗣️
We have a bucket and I had to climb into that with a pack and a set of irons. When I went down they asked for my safety strap… I wasn’t given one
We didn't have no safety line when we did it back in 93.
👏
You also had safer fires
After dozens of fatal injuries caused by firefighters falling off aerial ladders, things have changed.
Is the 100 foot ladder climb timed

I didn’t use a belay two weeks ago where I’m at and it was a crazy experience, would definitely do it again !🔥
Did you fall when u leaned back?
Literally just did this today! 😭😭
There was no belay when I did it 18 years ago. Lol
What happens if I just refuse to climb it
You won’t become a firefighter
I assume you don’t pass
Does anyone know what class this is for? is it for firefighter 1?
