Thank you for noticing. Maye is one of the best QBs I’ve seen at any level. Seriously … I am a huge football fan and always try to be unbiased. Watching Drake Maye play, you can’t help but understand you’re watching elite of elite talent.
@@Bigburb1345 Nah, everyone knew the bears reached to get him. Especially since during the combine and his pro days he was recognized as a long term project. In other terms, for someone who's probably only watched the NFL since 2019, he was less "pro ready" than mahomes, deshaun etc. Also, maybe if you thought about the surrounding cast mitch had in Chicago at the time, any qb would've struggled. The same thing is happening with fields. I'm not giving fields or trubisky all the excuses, but I'm giving them the excuse that nobody in the front office is doing anything to help out their situations
Not only is Drake a star, but he (and his brothers, Dad, Mom) are all extremely nice and humble people. Really glad to see him have a great year so far and hope he only gets better from here!

The thing that stands out to me about Maye the most is that he is just built like a perfect modern NFL QB. He's got size, arm strength, and accuracy, but he is also decently quick, generally good on his feet and he's sturdy. I don't want him taking a ton of hits, but he's shown he can absorb hits from Strong Safeties and Linebackers and get right back up. Truly I think he is a great pro prospect, especially if he can work on his footwork and maneuverability going into his final season with the Heels.
Love to see him continue to shine. The Panthers need a QB in the worst way. It would be great to see him pull Carolina out of the basement that Matt Rhule created.
I graduated from Myers Park in 2016, sadly missed seeing this guy play for the mustangs, wish the fellow Myers Park Mustang the best of luck except against Virginia tech and South Carolina, may he end up being the top draft pick in two or three years
I was gonna say that they have been surviving luckily this year so far with that Defense haha. In my opinion, I think next year is their season if they can recruit and develop their defense better as this Offense would be a lot better experienced next season. However, UNC gotta make sure they have a good set of WRs because I can see Josh Downs going pro after this season. BUT, if he decided to stay for his senior year, UNC will be a monster next year I bet.
QBs are so much further ahead than Quarterbacks of the past. Largely do to the fact they’re 1- coached year round 2- play year round ie camps & 7 on 7’s. And 3- they get evaluated much earlier and learn all of the things they need to improve on the most. 4- most HS’s now actually run college offenses. Even in my day most would run 70% or more of the time. That’s why you’re seeing so many very good freshman QBs on big stages playing lights out over the past 5 years or so. But Maye is really killing it.
This is Bryn Renner and TJ Yates erasure and I won't stand for it! But in all seriousness, it is impressive how many good QBs the Heels have had since the turn of the century. A lot of programs would kill to have that talent, even with the several years the Heels put out less-than-stellar talent.
Drake is every bit as good as State's 4th string quarterback. After hearing him run his mouth, I'm not surprised he came from Meyers Park. With the realignment of the ACC we'll see how good he is without the soft Coastal Division schedule.
If UNC had a defense the likes of Macks final several years during his first UNC tenure then UNC is for all practical purposes a viable playoff level team.
@@jasonh5547 the offense is pretty remarkable already, but the defense is the issue. They’ll sort it soon, and when they do, they will be a force to reckon with.
@@Queensizemusic It is very possible once the defense does turn the corner and stays consistently good and even improves to greatness as time goes by is that Carolina may be in the same position they were when Mack left for Texas as being close to a contender for one of the best teams nationally.

While Drake might be good the way the ACC is set up UNC is in a cupcake side of the division. They don’t play anyone good. Maybe If Pitt or Miami is having a good year but that’s it. On the other side however you have Clemson NCST, Wake Forest, FSU, and of recent Syracuse. All these teams are ranked (except FSU which Could easily change)and in one side of ACC. UNC always gets a free pass and are always overhyped only to fail to live up to it. Cant wait for next year when ACC divisions are gone and UNC gets to play the real teams.
I don't know man. When we were watching Sam Howell do his thing at UNC we saw his incredible passing ability even when the teams they were playing against weren't great. The thing that stands out to me about Maye is that he isn't just throwing to guys in wide open spots, he is getting the ball to them in the best spot they can be at. That's a skill that Howell showed as well, and clearly the NFL saw enough talent in Howell to draft him.
They will play State, Wake, and Clemson. Pitt and Miami were both top 20 to start the season. Syracuse having an unlikely good season doesn’t mean the Atlantic is always better. They are typically top heavy, but bad at the bottom. Some years, the Coastal will have 3-4 ranked teams all in the 18-25 range. Just happens to be a down year in the Coastal.

This is the first time that I can remember that UNC had a legitimately good QB. Not because of the system or the talent around him. Maye is legit and would be good no matter where he went. He doesn't have much of a run game, the OLine is okay but not great, and the receivers and TE's are good but he makes them better.

Yeah. That is a bad comparison. Trubisky wasn't ready for the NFL and I was shocked that he was taken 2nd in the draft. However, Maye is the real deal. His mechanics are better, he is taller, and he sees the field better.

trubisky started at carolina for a year he had one decent season and bounced the bears are dumb for drafting an unproven QB that high i say that as a tar heel fan Mitch should have stayed at Carolina for one more season
@@nottheatf6357 I was fine with Trubisky coming out when he did, but he should have never been drafted that high unless the team was committed to letting him sit and learn for a year or two. Unfortunately that isn't how the current NFL works. I think he could have been better if he wasn't thrown to the wolves in a dysfunctional organization. I mean, they got Mike Glennon to teach him for God's sake. Now I think his development was stunted. We will likely never know if he could be a viable NFL starting QB. It seems he is not at the moment.

Do not forget T J Yates - played 4 years 2006 to 2010 and drafted to Houston. Set most records back then.
Bryn Renner was also pretty great in the early Fedora days, a lot of people forget Williams was breaking Renner's records.
Since the first game of the season I knew this kid was gonna be special, but I never knew he was going to be this good.

I've watched every snap of the recent NFL UNC quarterbacks and Drake Maye is the best out of all of them.
I may love Sam Hartman and Chase Brice but I was at the App vs UNC game and I must say he is a star quarter back.

As of now Maye has been outstanding, If he continues on this path he will definitely go pro early.
If the Heels can get their defense up to speed, then they’d easily snag 9-10 wins this season, with this offense. Maye is a star.
