  • Hey Hunters,
    The Sphinx has always held a special fascination for me. I believe she's the oldest carved statue in the world. With the oral traditions dating the place over 50,000 years ago!
    I've been looking at the features and profiles of different races and sexes and I feel that the one that suits her best is the Black African Female.

    Yes, it is a black girl! I knew that in the fourth grade in Chicago , 1972, when we were in our social studies class looking at a picture of the sphinx. Some one yelled that it looks like Jenny Jones with her nose cut off. In fact it did look like her in profile, without her nose. Jenny was Black. Our teacher acknowledged this by saying it is possible her ancestors may have built it.

      If the myth was right, perhaps they hid a priest in the top hole of the Sphinx, to ask prisoners like Oedipus riddles. Get it wrong and they killed you. Get it right and they honored you. It was a rough test and "divine justice."

      Greek myths are not even reliable about their own backyard. They made the Minoans into monsters when it's clear from all sources that the Minoans were a fairly peaceful civilization emphasising trade over conflict. If the Minoans weren't peaceful they would have easily conquered mainland Greece and still been around when the Romans came knocking a thousand years later.

      @@mnomadvfx Recent digs on Crete has overturned the myth the Minoans were so peaceful. Why couldn't they conquer Greece? Why couldn't the violent Mexicans conquer the USA? I too now worship a female deity and surprise its you. I as far as the Sphinx goes I think it's possible as well as plausible that it started out as a lion however more likely to have been Anubis. Breaking off the nose was a common way of defacing a statue in ancient Egypt. This was a political act, similar to the way in which Soviet leaders were often discredited by their successors. Whoever is depicted by the current head of the Sphinx must be depicted in lots of other noseless statues. Hatshepsut springs to mind.

    You are right on the Sphinx having Black African features because the other Sphinx like statues are found in the Kingdom of Kush which was the land of the Black African Pharaohs. There's one by King Taharqa which looks exactly like the Sphinx but with his head on it. Interestingly, while the ancient Egyptians seemingly lost their sophistication in their art, the Nubian kingdom maintained the level of sophisticated finishings in statues carved in hard stone like Granite

The idea that the sphinx is a lion is obvious to me if only because of the importance of the Goddess Sekhmet and her place in the 'myth' of the cataclysm 13,000 years ago. The super-ancient lion statues you showed are a definite link (and so much older - love it!). I hope you get your screen play produced. Sounds very worthwhile. But the first Pharaoh re-carved the lioness into his mother's likeness. Maybe the lioness by that point was super eroded like the body.

This brings alot of things together for me. I've been trying to piece together all the little bits and its definitely getting harder for mainstream science to disprove these things. A mountain of evidence is piling up.

    Great topic JJ! 👍👍 I would say based on the profile features the face of the Sphinx is indeed a sub sarahsn (African) female, but the face was most likely carved at a later date after the original sculpture which new evidence suggests was a lioness and we know her name as Mehit. So the human head we see today is not the head of the original Sphinx.

    I think we as a species have been through cycles for millennia. We evolve, do fantastic stuff, and then boom! some cataclysm and we start from scratch again. Never remembering where we left off and previous technology disintegrated. Thus we think it was all cavemen and we are now superior, little do we know.

Me and my girlfriend watch your videos all the time and we think you could get a lot more viewers if you where a bit more vague with your captions. We think you’re a little too specific which makes the video appear more niche when in reality it’s greatly detailed and well put together. Hey Jahannah, I was wondering if maybe you could make a short video on the whole ancient civilization / lost knowledge topic that really starts "at chapter 0", sort of speak. There is a huge amount of excellent video material available already from you, Ben, Brian, Jimmy etc that go in detail about a particular aspect or detail about ancient history, but I have never really found a video that I can present to or share with people who never think about this topic in the first place. Most of them are too long, too focused on one place or one anomaly, and almost every video starts "in the middle". I have so many friends and relatives I want to try to get interested in this but I cannot ask them to watch a 3,5 hour long Rogan/Carlson podcast for example, to get them "warmed up".

    • @Skinflaps_Meatslapper
      @Skinflaps_Meatslapper 3 роки тому +3

      The problem is that the only potentially usable information we have about "chapter 0" comes from "in the middle", and the only way we'll ever get to "chapter 0" is further analysis of known artifacts and history from "in the middle". Any history that happened before the known artifacts and history is subjective and often conjecture, since we still don't understand what we have available well enough to make any speculation before that point. We must better understand what we have available currently in order to take any leap into a territory with so little evidence, and going into great detail is often the only way to make a connection...one tiny bit that everyone else overlooked that's the key to link seemingly unrelated things together. Take the Sumerian culture, for example...we have enough history from their "middle" and "end" that we can speculate their origin, but there's not really any solid evidence, there aren't artifacts and archaeological records attesting to their beginning. So we can speculate with a small amount of confidence that the rising sea levels which now comprise the Persian Gulf more or less gathered scattered tribes into one area in the Fertile Crescent, and what we call their mythology spoke of a great flood that could very well have been tied to this event. Whatever archaeological records there were of the Sumerians immediately before they formed Sumer are lost to history and likely somewhere in the Persian Gulf if they indeed exist. Scientists have known for many years that sea levels rose in that era, but archaeologists studying the Sumerians didn't, two totally different fields...and had they not put the two together, we'd still have no clue. Khemetology has a long and detailed oral history, and to alternative history enthusiasts it's all we really have to go on, but that oral history does need to be cross referenced with the archaeological record before we can get an accurate picture of the world before "in the middle". What we need is to spot the details that form a link between what we have in the archaeological record, the oral history of Khemetology, and an open but scientifically critical mind. To be succinct, currently we don't have enough evidence, only random bits that tell us so little without their context, and we need evidence that collaborates and confirms before we can say with any confidence what happened in "chapter 0". There's always the possibility that the history is either destroyed or too far gone for us to recover, at least with the technology, knowledge, and methods we use today.

    Dear Jahannah, I think the Sphinx is really much, much older than we can imagine and that it is originally built as a lion watching the sky. the people in these days lived in close relation to the sky and what they saw there. Mythology and geology show us that there were cataclysms, huge floods, tsunamis, that completely changed the landscapes probably caused by meteorites. Of course they made the relation between what happened in the sky and the cataclysms and , like the many statues on Eastern island, the sphinx they built as a "hello" to the "Gods"in the sky: When is the next cosmic event so that we can take measures to survive floods,etc. So there were megalithic people, probably 12000 years ago that built the Sphinx and the Dynastic Egyptians changed and rebuilt the head, probably several times (that is why the head is in proportion small compared to the body. So the dynastic faraobosses, most likely male, changed the face of the lion into their image, after all they were Gods too and wanted to communicate with the Gods in the sky. These huge floods probably washed away ancient civilazations, only a few monuments are for us left to see. It is just a wild guess but other hunters think like this. Good luck and happy fishing

    I have said for a long time that the Sphinx has very feminine features..and might be female (and been laughed at for doing so). So good on ya J. Here is another theory you might find interesting. The Sphinx was originally covered in blocks and the top has been quarried. A polite way to say the top stones have been stolen. Kinda makes sense as the the head and back are the only areas exposed for thousands of years...peace to ya.

    I haven’t watched an ancient history video in a while...I need moar
    Edit: one thing to note, I do actually think your argument proposed does hold water and form the limited evidence we have I do think it’s somewhat convincing. However, it’s safe to note that the male statues we know of may have used different forms of design styles. The Sphinx is meant to be a lot older than other Egyptian work. Also, be careful about not reading into the African Egyptian argument, it’s not a very strong theory in general. We know Nubians did reign over Egypt at a certain point but we also know that the very Egyptians we know of weren’t primarily black aka sub Saharan. Personally I’d like to see more people doing research into this because there is so much misinformation and outright lies to push agendas. I just re read what I wrote, wasn’t trying to be rude. I’m just high af rn

    • @jamiegagnon6390
      @jamiegagnon6390 3 роки тому

      Yep there was a Nubian pharoah, but never an actual supplanting of the population. Like the Hellenes, Romans and Ottomans, the Nubians temporarily ruled Egypt but never replaced the actual Egyptians. The movement to steal Egyptian history and pretend that it is really 'black' history is purely political and has virtually no backing among people who actually study genetics or history. It is like the idiots who try to claim Cleopatra was black; she was a Ptolemy (Greek) and we actually know her ancestry fairly well. The oldest Egyptian DNA that has been tested lines up with modern Egyptians, so it would require real evidence to convince me that pre-dynastic folks had a different background.

    • @kklh7918
      @kklh7918 3 роки тому

      @@jamiegagnon6390 exactly. Honestly, people don’t understand that the over politicisation of everything has led to unintended consequences in scientific fields. It’s led to dogma and fear of challenging new ideas which leads to many genuine pseudo theories to make it into the limelight. The Egyptians were actually all black hypothesis rarely even touches the surface of the truth behind Egypt. Most people that advocate for such a theory only use this argument to prove Egyptians were black due to racist history (of course we know of humans defaming Egyptian artificacts and monuments) but they stop there. It offers no insight into how the pyramids were constructed (not that I demand that for it to be a reputable theory) or really anything we don’t already now. It seems like a poor attempt by grifters to walk into the room and act like the own the place by putting their label on it, in this case the Egyptians were actually black. It’s not scientific at all and is riddled with disingenuous claims. However, in spite of this that doesn’t mean that some stone structures aren’t modelled after stereotypical black figures. Just that we now need to be careful about what theory we value because of how chaotic the drawing board has been regarding ancient Egypt
