Nice recorder. To make your setup more compact and reduce the strain on your HDMI plug use a right angle HDMI cable but make sure it hangs in the preferred up or down direction and doesn't block any ports you may need to use. Since you are mounting your recorder above the camera then a short right angle HDMI cable that bends upward would be the optimum choice.
Thanks for making this great video. Do you happen to know what format it records in? Their website doesn't say what it is. I did see one advert that claimed it records in .VOB, (the same as DVDs use), but that could be incorrect.
@@sjm.photos I've just ordered one of these recorders. I can't wait for it to arrive! I found their recording format on their website (I don't know how I missed it the first time). They say it records in .MOV. Apparently that's much the same as MP4, but it's typically slightly better quality. It's not as widely accepted (it's an Apple corporation format), but that's no problem for me, because I use Cyberlink PowerDirector for my video editing. That program can handle anything.
i have mine in a phone holder there is no tripod mount sadly but i bought this which works well also hotshoe and arca swiss compatible works a treat www.amazon.co.uk/Version-Woohot-Rotation%EF%BC%8CMetal-Shoe%EF%BC%8CMount-Smartphone/dp/B07DGG1VWT/ref=asc_df_B07DGG1VWT/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=345546568741&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13976689898310226183&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045152&hvtargid=pla-571877571817&psc=1
Hey, I’m not a photographer by any means but I’d simply like my 2 cameras to to record past the 30 minute limit for a podcast. Is this a good option for such a modest goal? (Canon m50 ii & t5i) any help would be greatly appreciated🙏🏿😌
@@sjm.photos great🙏🏿 just so long as it doesn’t stop all together like my cameras do. Also concerned whether the quality will be kept but I’ve been seeing some decent reviews so I’m getting 2 of them. Thank you very much😌🖤🙌🏿
you get seperated clips as it starts a new one i did it once before and worked fine i could put the clips together with no real drama. nicely made aswell.
it records for hours but splits the clips into 30 mins and remember only 1080p but for me im just using it for youtube production to show people what the camera is doing etc.
Thanks for this review. I’ve looked everywhere for a simple HDMI portable capture for a camera for photography screen grabs. Thanks!
Yep thats what i use it for. Works perfect for that
@@sjm.photos thanks for video. Great channel btw 😉 sub’d. come see me in Fuji-land sometime ✌️

i have measured it as a length so hopefully can get a much shorter cable but great idea on the right angle plug thankyou

You can use one of those smartphone clip holders that you can mount on a tripod.

Hello. Does this let record for longer than 30mins on a canon camera? Looking for an alternative to the atomos ninja v.

Does it record from live broadcasts because we need to record videos from live broadcasts of channels in a format..iptv box
