      Would it be possible to modify the tension mechanism to remove the allen key and use some quick-lock mechanism with a small lever? Maybe similar to the quick levers for bike wheels?
      It would be great if the rubber band pre-tension could be removed or reapplied in just some seconds with no need of a tool, for easy daily use.

      @@perwestermark8920 This would be difficult as the printed plastic is not that strong. I used a simple, compact and rather reliable solution, but requiring the use of an allen key.

      You need to make something like this that shoots steel bb's next !!!! It could shoot steel 6mm bbs.. To make it legal all you would have to do is use the correct amount of rubber to make it under whatever joule limit is in your country ;]

      It doesn't have to be just the pinky, too, the whole hand grip could, theoretically, move with the lever action, then be gripped in place with the hand... I don't know the laws around this type of stuff, so I don't know if that would change the legality of the device

    I think there would be an optional further improvement by having a quick-release to tension/untension the rubber band so no allen key is needed. With a quick-release, it could be tensioned in 5 seconds making it so much quicker if someone wants to shoot every day.

      In extremis you could just hook the block over the lug, I think. You'd risk it jumping off, and shaking the nut free, but that could be glued in...Sometimes a pause to think is useful.

    • @JelMain
      @JelMain 2 роки тому

      @@ernststravoblofeld You'd have to put the tension release at the other end of the band, then, because that's the only part which is dynamic in the action. However, that's a really bad idea, because the way it's been designed transfers the tension to what sounds like a really solid catch at the front, whereas anything in that area to the rear may not be. Here, KISS certainly applies: don't forget you're dealing with a weapon.

    I learnt a trick from a friend of the family on how to make rubber bands last a very long time. Put them in the fridge (not the freezer, just the fridge). I have had rubber bands for over 10 years in the fridge and they last forever. Also CA (superglue) lasts many years in the fridge as well, just put the CA glue in multiple plastic bags just in case so no fumes go in the fridge.

    Hi, I buyed the stl files for about 7 euros and printed whole adderini project a few days ago.
    The pieces still need sand work to adjust properly, find the springs..... and I'm thinking about changing rubber bands for an 80 pounds pistol bow with string, so probably metal trigger will be needed or at minimum change the original one system as it only relies on a spring to hold string. I plan also to add an airsoft stock and a safe.
    It is a huge project so there is a lot of work for me to do, but first I will bring this thing to work as it is and then try my mods.
    For those who want to print one, it took me 4 days to print with an Anycubic Mega X and 1Kg of black PLA (1/2 Kg of each if you use two colours). Printed just following printing instructions in the pdf. I suggest to print it in PETG as PLA is worst for deal with tension and heat.
    To make it a rifle instead a pistol you only need to edit propper stl files in Fusion 360, AutoCad or any other and make adjustments, but take in consideration that you will need metal parts attached to build it so it won't brake.
    Eddited due to my poor english.....

If you just want a toy print a cupped tip and put in those "snap its" which are the little bags of rocks that detonate when you throw them on the ground or compress them and available almost anywhere in the US near July 4th. This would allow for the overall compactness to be maintained and shot like a pistol, but quickly deployed for more precise shooting. Those are usually terrible on firearms because they are uncomfortable with recoil but would be perfect for this.

    The major design flaw for Adderini is the moving rail where scope or red dot is mounted at, this section of pistol-bow should be designed to be stationary and either be a attachable piece that connects to lower or actually printed as one piece with lower receiver. A stationary mount is better to keep aim for user and having to refocus on a moving red dot or scope gets disorientating and slows down one's retargeting.

      Considering how frequently you need an alan key to make changes to this, I'd have probably put a little place on the weapon that the alan key could push fit into. That way, you always have the tool you need (to swap things on and off the rail, and relieve the tension of the bands) if you have the crossbow in hand. :)

    Great design, but there are some slight issues if you do make it. If you use crossbow limbs, they pack a ton of force. The cocking lever needs to be reinforced or there will be bending issues. The mag catch spring, lever latch spring, and the trigger spring needs to be stronger than the instructions. Otherwise, absolutely blows away the original pistol crossbow in ease of use and effortless to cock.

  • @martonlerant5672
    @martonlerant5672 2 роки тому

    Few improvements:
    - obligatory "printed objects should be designed to have as few fasteeners as possible"
    - since its not held drawn by force, might as well make it multi shot.
    - you can add more power by also using the forward movmement of the tension arm as a power stroke (either via a 2nd half as powerful rubber band, or via mechanism)
    -the biggest influenc eon penetration is projectile speed...
    ...hence steps need to be taken to increase it.
    First should be employing a shorter but stronger rubber band. And using string + pulley to transfer the energy.
    (As energy that goes into acceleratin the rubber band is wasted. Thus the smaller band you can get away with the better. Also if you can pick between short and long, pcik short, as that means less speed on the partof the band close to the projectile - and momentum is proportionsl to speed squared)

    Why not put those small bow arms under tenssion using a flat torsion spring as well so that they rotate forward adding more power.

      That's what I want, I've got a design in mind that can be made from sheet metal but its going to need some more design work. I'm not sure what people would be willing to pay for one (it won't be a super cheap $100, but I think $300 would be possible), and scalable from 1 motor up to 4, however I'm not seeing high power brushless motors like I wanted to use because I want some insane fire rate with lots of power. What I'm looking at would probably be semi-auto with up to 2 shots per second depending on draw weight.
      This example so far has raised over $1500, and its barely been out, so considering that I could probably do similar in a week that's really not bad. If you think a lot of people would want to buy a full auto electric and could sell at least 1000 units (otherwise the cost is going to be pretty high for reasonable profit) then I could spend some time and resources making one.

    For you Non-Germans who wonder why it wouldn’t be a weapon in our law if the lever lock weren’t there:
    Without lever lock there is no energy saved and stored by itself, just like with an arrow which you need to hold to preserve the energy, thus the ingenious idea with the pinky assistent which holds the lever in place.

      It wouldn't be weapon according to Polish law also (crossbows are treated like firearms, more or less) wich is just brilliant!!

    So, trollish good looks and strength, reflexes like a 300 kph cat - driving his wife's Porsche on the Autobahn, gifted inventor, world traveller, a laugh that should frighten creatures from bad places and stupid. Hmmmm. I'll buy the first six, but the last doesn't seen to fit at all. More like you like to "do it the old fashioned way"- with your hands, I'm thinking. BTW, another great, true addition to the Slingshot Channel! FR

    Joerg, the other day a thought came to my mind of a device to help loading crossbow. Imagine a standing "rack" in wich you can push your crosbow with your bodyweight and the sides of it "squishes" the crosbow arms, hence helping in the cocking process.

  • @MarekCabak

    I would love to see post-apo tv show or webseries, where one of the characters or several characters would use Joergs weapons to fight enemies. Some of them may even have 3D printed versions, some of them just made from scrapwood. It makes more sense than normal weapons because ordinary "heroes" usually don't have access to those (unless you live in the USA I guess)

  • @dropkickedmurphy6463
    @dropkickedmurphy6463 2 роки тому

    In terms of target shooting, this very good. However, there is one thing that could be potentially improved. That would be where the sights are located. Having a sight on a moving part could be a bit of a problem when trying to adjust it, because there could be a chance it does not sit in exactly the same position. This is why target pistol sights are not located on the reciprocating slide (or bolt, or whatever; reciprocating mass is what it is) and is instead located on top of a piece that sits just above it. This prevents that from being a problem. However, given this is not semi-automatic, and that basically the whole bow is what reciprocates, I suppose that isn't much of an issue at all. This really is a good design.

    • @Slingshotchannel
      @Slingshotchannel  2 роки тому +1

      You are mistaken. The "moving part" also contains the arrow groove, which is the "barrel" of the weapon. Therefore it makes total sense to attach the aiming device to that part.
