      Same, this also didn't show up in my sub box. Looks like youtube is trying out yet another curated sub box algorithm thing again. Why is it so hard for them to grasp that if I sub to a channel, then I want all of their uploads in my sub box? They pull this over and over and the backlash is always the same.

    Fascinating video, expertise and character combined. Now I know the Murray Method of tasting. Probably I'll purchase his book to help me understand more and to select whiskeys that will expand my palate.

    at least i know im not the only one who likes their whisky warm, I usually wash the glass with super hot water and let the glass warm it up

  • @AD-kv9kj
    @AD-kv9kj 5 років тому +1

    I love a very peaty whisky. Lagavulin may be a fairly obvious choice but is still one of my favourites - when left in the glass for a while I find it softens and opens up beautifully becoming very smooth and not just peat smokeyness but gorgeous honey and salty notes that I just love. Quite complex and rich.

    I have some Penderyn, didn't know what it was back when I bought it. Glad he mentioned they don't use caramel anymore, it was something I liked about them. Not sure what the prices will be like in NA but they're pretty reasonable over here (Scotland). Worth trying.

    One thing that I agree with Murray is people having this impression that Whisky is only Scotch, Scotch sets the standard. There are tons of products out there that have yet to be discovered or domestically consumed to a point where it doesn't get get exported. Everyone goes nuts for Japanese and bourbon, but Canadian Whiskies are gradually getting noticed. The most common ones exported are pretty much bottom shelves, while the premium to ultra premium ones are bought up domestically.

      For me, it was like someone lit an oak fire in my mouth and then put it out with a fire hose. My bro-in-law is quickly becoming a whisky snob and had me try his Laphroaig. Needless to say, it was too much for me. No smoke, no peat for me. I guess I'm a whisky noob.

    while I never got to understanding all the whiskeys, I do tend to know a bit on moonshine, & flavor profiles of them, & how different ingredients, as well as whether still is all copper, or partly stainless changes flavor profile. 1 of my favorites is a good corn flavor shine, with mulberries soaking for flavor. unfortunately my source for that was busted a few years ago. but I do live close to "the moonshine capital of the world" you can actually google that. there may be 3, but look at Virginia. lol. some local stores sell the shirts proclaiming it too. lol

    Being primarily a scotch drinker (Isla mostly), I have to say that Penderyn makes some excellent whisky. I've also had some excellent Irish whisky, being particularly fond of the Redbreast Lustau, and the Connemara 12.

    Hmm, youtube? This never showed up in my feed. I noticed it in the 'recommended' vids. Went back and looked through my feed, & nope, still not there 😒 None-the-less it was interesting to see, but I kept thinking how difficult it is to sit with an "expert" and still be able to enjoy the tasting without feeling like your every move is being judged 😊

      After watching to see how he tasted them i tried last night trying to actually taste the flavors claimed by JW Gold, which was fun, but to sit there sipping and tasting would take me all day. When enjoying a compatible cigar its one thing but at home i wanna taste and get a buzz lol. Just wondered if he divulged any info into his personal way of actually "having a drink" will be searching for the bible though.

    "We were told [adding colour] doesn't make any difference" maybe not to whoever told you that it doesn't haha
    Even if it didn't change the taste (which it very, very slightly does) it would still change the rest of the experience, which is just as important
