I am collecting parts for my Rocket Stove and I liked your idea for 8" stove pipe. But I see the problem of low temperatures on the barrel. I was thinking maybe not insulating the top 1/3 of the heat riser in the barrel, and making a 2" pipe coming out the side of the barrel and running it down to the fire chamber, thus making a preheater of sorts. Do you think that may work?
I just found these vids of yours! This looks really cool, I'll have to watch it all later when I get time.
I will do that, going to probably install it in the shed this year, bought some stuff for the stove pipe and its getting cold here now.

Don't know what you mean by low temperatures I get some major heat off mine.
