An introduction with Orange's amp designer and Technical Director Ade Emsley
When just one blistering lead channel isn’t enough, there’s the incredibly portable Orange Dual Baby. It’s a behemoth in a pint-sized package that offers two channels of lead-playing possibilities. Weighing only just over 3 kg and with a minimal footprint, Dual Baby can effortlessly power any monster cab.
This simple A and B channel design means duelling lead tones and/or alternating rhythm opportunities abound. Channel A mimics the rich and responsive tone of our flagship Rockerverb amps in a reliable solid-state design. From clean, to crunch, to full-on saturation, there’s no shortage of Orange mojo. There’s also a brand-new Tubby switch, which boosts the bottom-end early in the signal chain - ideal for creating a “rounder” tone when playing clean or when searching for just the right “dirty-clean” sound.
Channel B allows players to dial in exactly the desired level of grit, from clean to crunchy and everywhere in between, with ample saturation and a valve-like “edge-of-breakup” tone unheard of in any other solid-state unit. The Tight switch gives the amp spring and bounce at lower gain levels for players who really want to tighten up and shred. Tweak frequencies with the 3-band sweepable EQ and presence controls to add shimmer or dial in mids that sit perfectly in the mix.
Variable output options like a balanced DI XLR out for adding IRs later within your DAW along with dual speaker outputs for utilizing multiple cabs makes the Dual Baby super flexible.
Only Ade should be doing the amp demos. The inflection of his voice is rad and the fact he is the engineer makes it proper.
Said this for a long time, the purests will hate. But a presence was missing on orange amps. This seems to be a great evolution of ideas. Dual for me.
thanks for keeping it completely analog!
Cool :) I really like the Dual Baby. Two channels with full EQ - that's exactly what I was looking for! It would be great to see an identical concept but based on tubes.
The Orange "AD" series is just that
@PunishedBrak No, it's not the same. It's a great crunch amp, but it doesn't have a real clean channel. It also doesn't have a reverb. I know it sounds almost like a Rockerverb in the specs, but it doesn't have a full EQ on the clean channel. And most importantly, it should be light :)
@@fuzzgod Running one channel clean is it's "clean" channel, but I'm not going to argue the semantics of an imperceptible difference to the audience when dealing with power sourcing that they nor the venue could care less about.
I've never been one to obsess over Valve tone either, so to each their own. You'll notice it while playing but 99% of any given audience won't be able to tell, especially if you're ran into a P.A but I digress; The AD series is exactly what you're describing, a two gain stage, twin channel amplifier, based on Valves and analogue circuitry.
@@PunishedBrak But it's still not a lightweight compact amplifier :) Mesa boogie proved with the Fillmore 50 Head that it is possible to make a very light amplifier with 2 channels and an analog reverb. I would like something similar with the Orange sound - that would be something :)
This is exactly what I need. New amp day coming soon.
Always happy to see more high quality amps in solid state. The world needs more of that, tubes are very overrated, imho. King Buzzo don’t need em, Andy Gill didn’t need em, what matters is if the amp is designed well, not if it has tubes in it. These amps seem to be designed very well.
Jim Root switched to quad cortex...and I took offense to that. 😅 I love how this sounds.
Holy Shit!!! this sounds amazing. I love this amp.
I would love to see a hybrid version. Tube preamp into Class AB power amp.
Micro Terror Baby, Micro Dark Terror Baby. 2027 NAMM Debut. I just solved Orange’s near-term research & development. Let’s create the prototypes, get legal and marketing started, and the rest of us can have fully paid salaries and go on holiday for a full year.
I want 2!
So good orange!!
Is the high gain channel of the gain baby the same as one of these channels?
Love this! Are y’all going to offer a 112 cab that is more compatible? Your ppc112 is only 60watts at 16ohms. Can you run it without a cab plugged in or do you need a load box?
That's what I was curious about. Seems like the cab would need more juice and a load box
Gonna combine this with my Micro Dark!
Is this guy getting younger?
god gives him a healthy long life ❤
So greasy request, would you try a demo utilizing the orange amp detonator with these babies? Doing a b and y especially the Y. Not to give the rest of the world my tricks of amp stacking but hey you get more folks on that glorious path that’s twice the gear bought 😅😅😅
Hi guys, why didn't you make stereo in & out with stereo fx loop?
It would be more expensive is all
Can I run this thru my 4x12?
You do realize that the product is an AMPLIFIER, correct?
100W into 8 ohms or 70W into 16 ohms.
Would love to see this with higher wattage (200-300 watts) for those of us who love ridiculous headroom.
it'll be cheaper for you to learn how amplifiers work and how many watts you're actually using
@ post a vid and take me to school smarty pants. Why don’t you show me what it is you think I don’t know?
@ sensitivity of the average guitar cab is 106dB. That means it takes one single watt to make a guitar cab louder than a jackhammer. Most amps sound best around that level. You have 99% headroom 99% of the time with "only" 100 watts. Any more than 100 watts is pointless because the speakers can't handle it anyway. have a nice day

Sounds just like everything else
first!
So going by what they said, they got it wrong with the Super Crush.. No presence.. Anx Fixed IR on DI output, much prefer to use my own IR But the amp IR can't be switched... And it's not a very good IR. 5 out 10 for the Super Crush.. I'm disappointed with my super crush.. Thanks guys...
Never played a Super Crush but I've seen people swear by the Guptec Presence pedal....not expensive either.
I love my Super Crush. Maybe you should go take a nap
