This is the most inspirational video on NaNoWriMo I have seen yet. No pep talks, no inspirational quotes, just you being awesome and practicing what you preach. Your reactions and emotions have kept me going this year.
Congratulations!! I finished on the 27th at 61,588 words, which is a personal best for me. I think you were one of the inspirations that got me started on NaNoWriMo three years ago, so thanks Kristina!
It was my first year and, being an 8th grader, I knew no one doing NaNo. I was watching your wordcount the whole month and made myself stay near you. Thanks for helping me win :)
I adore you in a totally platonic way. You are a huge inspiration. I didn't get to do NaNoWriMo due to me breaking my back and recovering but, I'm looking forward to trying to write a novel in another month that seems less busy. You are a great role model and I love that I can relate to you (WoW, Ponies) and that you are so human. By human I mean being imperfect and making mistakes and not being ashamed of them. It's a breath of fresh air, really.
This may be my absolute favorite video of yours ever Kristina!!!!! Thanks for documenting the whole journey... that was truly a blast to watch :) congrats!!! I hope some day you publish a novel (or many!). There are definitely thousands of people who would lovelovelove to read one of your novels!!
After watching this video last year, I was inspired to do Nanowrimo for the first time this year. It's challenging but I'm glad I'm doing it. Good luck Kristina if you're Nanowrimoing again this year!
I love that you documented the process, it gives me more motivation to do it next year! I tried this year but only ended up writing about 12 thousand before I petered out and got super busy. Next year though!
I appreciate your you tube posting because it tended to reflect much of my own successes and conflicts. Thankfully, I reached my goal on thanksgiving day. Really appreciate your video posting.
Congrats Kristina! I haven't been doing NaNoWriMo but I've been working on an e-book for the last few weeks. Your video summed up my thoughts exactly. I've written over 20,000 words. Some days I wanted to tear my hair out and other times I got into such a groove that I was like HELL YEAH! :D Gotta love writing.
Congrats on finishing! Wow, 7th year, that's impressive :) And I love what you said on Day 19 about really writing & enjoying a story and not just getting to the count being what nano is really about~
Congratulations on winning another year, Kristina!! I finished with 24,733 words!! It's not 50k, but I'm still proud of myself for beating last year's word count! And I hope to get even more words next year!!! ^o^
I tried for the first time this year and got to 14k which is still the longest thing I've ever written even though I didn't finish. All your previous NaNoWriMo vids really helped me keep going in the beginning!
This video is an amazing source of inspiration! I didn't do a "proper" nanowrimo this year because of schoolwork, so I stoped somewhere around 20k, but next year (when I have a blissful gap year), this is really something I want to do :) Thanks for being brilliant.
Found out that my intense classes for school this year end on November 1st! Nanowrimo, here i come!!! :D (got so excited that i had to marathon all my favourite nanowrimo vids...yup)
Congratulations Kristina! I didn't get to 50,000 words, and finished my story at 30,999. I'm still proud though - it was my first year doing it, had a lot of schoolwork, and I'll do better next year :D
I really liked what you said on Day 19, in the past 17 days of NaNoWriMo I've really experienced that as well. It feels absolutely fabulous to get an idea down, maybe something you've thought a lot about but never were really able to get out. That's the nice thing about writing, you can say and do a lot of stuff you wouldn't in real life and then be like "Oh no, my characters said that, I didn't." When really it's a peak inside your own brain! Hehe
I finally participated in NaNoWriMo this year! :D I've wanted to since I saw your first videos about it, but this year I finally did it... and I succeeded! AND I ACTUALLY LIKE MY STORY! :D Thank you Kristina
I first heard about NaNoWriMo three years ago from you vlogging about it and this year was the first year I didn't have time to participate! I was so sad but now I'm so glad you made a video about your writing process cause it made me feel like I still got to experience a bit of it (aside from the moments where I forced myself to ignore all the #wordspring tweets)... thaaaank you for sharing this with us!
This video... is amazing. I wish I had thought to do something like this throughout the month. Maybe next year... hehe Congrats on winning! I won as well, and I feel like I owe a lot of it to your Twitter word sprints! I participated in every one that I could and they were hugely helpful. Happy December! And happy birthday month! :)
Oh, no way. Seven years of NaNoWriMo? Where has it been hiding for seven flipping years?! I'm going to do it this year, and it is Going To Be Awesome. I know it, you know it. Plots are flying in and out of my head already (which is funny, because 'plots' is a verb that sounds like a bird could be doing it. Also, 'hatching a plot.') and it is only July! I should be studying for my Physics test tomorrow, so... I'm going to go away now. No, wait! Love your videos, Kristina, keep on making them!
omg, so I randomly found this video...and then when you started singing your song I was like okay...then you said it was yours and I was like "OMG it's the ALL CAPS!" :) congratulations.
This was my first year doing NaNoWriMo, and I finished my story at 54,170! I was really pleased with myself because November is my exam month in college. Needless to say, I got to check "Write a novel" off of my bucket list!
that was such a cool and inspiring video, you should do more like that with like just a couple thoughts about your day and then a rap up for the month...even if its not novermber and your not writing! congrats!
I'm jealous that you reached 50k words because I didn't get anywhere close to that. BUT I'm also happy for you that you reached (and passed) the set goal! Congrats!
Your song became the fourth most played song in my itunes playlist this November. Thanks to you, my first year of Nanowrimo... DONE. Now I get bragging rights cuz I wrote 50,000 words in 30 days WHILE being in middle school... and middle school sucks.
this is such a cool project! i just love this video!!!! im a writer to and i feel like its a great idea to kinda make yourself write.. even if you have off days i love this! so thanks!
i am currently rewatching all of kristina's nanowrimo videos to get inspired :D also, i just passed 10k today! and i have a biig writing weekend coming up with almost nothing else to do so i'm very excited!
Haha.. I loooved watching your journey... and unfortunately I just realized that I haven't been back to camp nanowrimo since I started my story at the beginning. .....
Does anybody know if the story she was writing in this video is available to purchase online, maybe from DFTBA or something like that? Really helpful video, have watched it every day since starting NaNoWriMo, I actually think I might be able to do it. Thanks xxxxxx
I don't even have a dryer, but they are also really tight after washing them. And I have one green jeans which I have to wash more often because you can actually see the stains and one time I wasn't sure if I could get in them anymore ;)
oh my goodness, this was beautiful. Captured nanowrimo perfectly(: I didn't win this year, but I'm still writing, so I consider this a good second year. Looking forward to sleeping though! Congratulations!!!!
Lovely video, my favourite part was on day 25 when you were lying on the floor and wanted to watch My Little Pony! November is always the worst month for me to write a novel! I think December or June would be a nice month for book writing... December doesn't really have anything strenuous because most people are celebrating some sort of holiday and June usually marks a nice time for holiday... Anyway, I will finish my novel, I will dash it all!
I did it too! I actually wrote 50k words and it's all thanks to you! I first heard it from you and at the start of the month you pumped me up. Soo, thanks (:
I'm mid writing my own novel, but I'm in no rush. I'm kinda thinking that I want to do nanowrimo next year, but I don't know if you can if you live in Britain, or if there's age restrictions... Maybe I'll just challenge myself! You're an inspiration Kristina!
This was my second year and I still didn't win. I was totally powering through it, like 20,000 words in 10 days due to having NOTHING to do after Sandy hit, but then I just declined from there because of all my schoolwork :/ It was really upsetting to see all the WINNER things people were putting on tumblr, because I let myself down and the feeling sucks. I wasn't even going to watch this video out of spite, but I'm glad I did. You really inspire me. :)
This video is pretty cute. I loved the little "I wanna go watch My Little Ponyyyy!" :) I signed up three days before it started, and got to about 24000ish writing a lot of short stories and reviews and things I really needed to get on with. Although I didn't get to 50k, I'm glad I tried it because it got me back into the habit of making time for my writing, which is really what I want to do with my life. Thank you Kristina for making me sign up with your 'No Excuses' video. Roll on next year! :)
So...could please anyone explain to me what is this about? I enjoy writing and I definitely wouldn't mind publishing a couple of books ( and don't judge by my english by the way, I'm not a native english speaker). It's been 4 years since I started my current novel and I still haven't finished it ( due to the fact that most of the year I'm studying really hard to become a doctor). Even if I was free most of the year, I think a couple of years it's a good amount of time to make a book, since most of the quality comes from rewriting things in a better form. So, what's this story about getting the book done by december? Does she have some sort of agreement with editors? Even so, why is she doing it in a single months? That's insane! I could never write like!
It's a challenge. Write 50,000 words in a month. I wouldn't be able to do that either, but you could always set your own word count goals. You could choose to try to write only 5000 words in a month. Or just try to finish an already started book. It's all up to you. I am writing a book currently as well and I am in the midst of highschool, so it's already hard enough. But this year I am definitely going to TRY participating in NaNoWriMo. Even with me being in school, I have already managed to write one book. And I have started a second one. So just try your best. Or if November isn't a good month for you, you could try doing it in say July, or even try it over a string of five months. And the goal is to write, some people edit during the month, and some edit after they have finished. So just do your best. Good luck!
CrystalGirl Mmmh I don't think I could ever afford to spent a months in such a challenge. Also, I don't like to force myself to write. But hey, I finished a novel of 90.000 words ( after 4 years) so I still got one book done!
cesverc Well congrats on finishing one that long! My first book was only 12,492 words. It took me about 2-3 years (partly because of a six month long period of writers block) to finish it. So you should be proud of yourself! And if you don't want to write that fast you don't have to. I write because I enjoy writing. So just do your best!
Actually it often happens that I let myself be driven by the process, so that I write a lot of pages in a few days. I just don't want to force it, I want it to happen naturally. Anyway, thanks a lot! Same to you!
UUUGGGHHGHH I Didn't finish because I was so behind in school and then I was lazy and then I hit writers block, but it was my very first year so I guess that's to be expected... I'm SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!! Awesome vid.
I only JUST made it this year. I lost track half way through so I had to write nearly 10,000 words on the last day. My friends also decided that that day was a good day for a tv show marathon. I only just made it by five minutes . I am never leaving it that late ever again!
Rewatched this today. Made me feel good about my NaNoWriMo again. First official time, and broke 50 000, even though I was without a computer for a little more than a week and went old school with pen and paper. 10 000 words later I got my computer back. :)
On Day 28, paraphrased: "I'm worried that I'm not going to finish because I'm so close to being done."
"So why aren't you writing?"
"Because I want to watch My Little Pony..."
YAS.
I am 300 words from being done and now I'm on UA-cam, procrastinating. Must...get...to...50,000...
This is the most inspirational video on NaNoWriMo I have seen yet. No pep talks, no inspirational quotes, just you being awesome and practicing what you preach. Your reactions and emotions have kept me going this year.
This is like the tenth time I've watched this this month. I should probably get back to writing...
Doing it this year so excited! My friend and I are both doing it
This has totally inspired me! I have a goal to finish my novel by October 20th!
Congratulations!! I finished on the 27th at 61,588 words, which is a personal best for me. I think you were one of the inspirations that got me started on NaNoWriMo three years ago, so thanks Kristina!
I'm doing Camp right now, and I come back to this video every day - it is just so inspirational and motivating! Absolutely adore it.
It was my first year and, being an 8th grader, I knew no one doing NaNo. I was watching your wordcount the whole month and made myself stay near you. Thanks for helping me win :)

After watching this video last year, I was inspired to do Nanowrimo for the first time this year. It's challenging but I'm glad I'm doing it. Good luck Kristina if you're Nanowrimoing again this year!
this looks like an aweful lot of fun. NEXT YEAR x
Is anyone else having trouble with the fact that they are almost at 50K but nowhere near done?
Story of my life.
*casually waits for july first so i can start camp NaNo*....
*midnight on july 1* NOPE IM DONE I QUIT IM NOT READYYYYY
Congrats Kristina! I haven't been doing NaNoWriMo but I've been working on an e-book for the last few weeks. Your video summed up my thoughts exactly. I've written over 20,000 words. Congrats on finishing! Wow, 7th year, that's impressive :) And I love what you said on Day 19 about really writing & enjoying a story and not just getting to the count being what nano is really about~
Congratz on finishing, you've definitely inspired me to seriously consider it next year, depending on how exams fall :)
Congratulations on winning another year, Kristina!! I finished with 24,733 words!! It's not 50k, but I'm still proud of myself for beating last year's word count! And I hope to get even more words next year!!! ^o^

This video really was amazing. I felt like I took a journey with you. I teared up when finished!
This was an amazing video idea! I loved actually seeing how the writing was going each day. I can't even imagine doing nanowrimo!
This video is an amazing source of inspiration!
I didn't do a "proper" nanowrimo this year because of schoolwork, so I stoped somewhere around 20k, but next year (when I have a blissful gap year), this is really something I want to do :) Thanks for being brilliant.
this is literally the best nanowrimo video
Have fun with it! It's really great and I know you're going to love doing it :)
this video makes me so happy also I'm doing nanowrimo this year for the first time and I'm super excited!
Found out that my intense classes for school this year end on November 1st! Nanowrimo, here i come!!! :D (got so excited that i had to marathon all my favourite nanowrimo vids...yup)
This video is one of my favorite things in the world because it's so realistic and exactly what happens.
I just watched this today and you winning made me cry...I'm not sure why but yeah. Happy almost NaNoWriMo!
Congratulations Kristina! I didn't get to 50,000 words, and finished my story at 30,999. I'm still proud though - it was my first year doing it, had a lot of schoolwork, and I'll do better next year :D
This is so precious and inspiring. Thank you so much!
Love this video. Kristina convinced me to do NaNoWriMo for the first time this year, and it was awesome.

"Why are you stopping now?" "'Cause i wanna watch my little pony!" Hahaha best part of this video
this was so interesting and adorable. congrats on making it Kristina!
I should do this next year just because we have such different views of NaNoWriMo throughout the month.
I love this video. do this every year, please!
This video... is amazing. I wish I had thought to do something like this throughout the month. Maybe next year... hehe
Congrats on winning! I won as well, and I feel like I owe a lot of it to your Twitter word sprints! I participated in every one that I could and they were hugely helpful.
Happy December! And happy birthday month! :)
loved this video, probably one of my favorites from you. I've never written a novel or even a short story but this kind of makes me want to??
Justin and Joe are great for keeping making you do it and asking you on camera :)
I am so so happy for you Kristinaa!!!!, congratulations :D
I love this! so encouraging!!
Really loved this video- congrats on the novel!
Bless Liz :) , loved this video and congrats on 7th year
This was great. I think I will do this next year to help keep me motivated.

This is my favourite video about nanowrimo that I've seen, and I'm making one of myself for this year! :)
I loved this, you should make a video like this every year! :)
Absolutely doing this next year.
omg, so I randomly found this video...and then when you started singing your song I was like okay...then you said it was yours and I was like "OMG it's the ALL CAPS!" :) congratulations.
Yaaaay 50,000+ words! Good job Kristina!
Congrats! I've wanted to do it for three years now and I've never had the chance.
I choked up...? Okay weird but NO SHAME. Also, I am amazed by your earring consistency!
This was my first year doing NaNoWriMo, and I finished my story at 54,170! I was really pleased with myself because November is my exam month in college. Needless to say, I got to check "Write a novel" off of my bucket list!
Started late this year, Actually this was my first time, finished my novel with 57k in about 13 days, I can't wait for next year!
that was such a cool and inspiring video, you should do more like that with like just a couple thoughts about your day and then a rap up for the month...even if its not novermber and your not writing! congrats!
I did it too! So proud! Well done everyone who was a NaNoWriMo winner!
great video! 30 days of cuteness!
I'm jealous that you reached 50k words because I didn't get anywhere close to that. BUT I'm also happy for you that you reached (and passed) the set goal! Congrats!
I really love this. Thank you for doing this. Brilliant!
This was a really nice video.
I might do something like this next year, it seams easier then trying to do proper vloggs through the month ^^
Your song became the fourth most played song in my itunes playlist this November. Thanks to you, my first year of Nanowrimo... DONE.
Now I get bragging rights cuz I wrote 50,000 words in 30 days WHILE being in middle school... and middle school sucks.
this is such a cool project! i just love this video!!!! im a writer to and i feel like its a great idea to kinda make yourself write.. even if you have off days i love this! so thanks!

Well done! I didn't do so well, I stopped after the first day :( I will do it one year though!
Does anybody know if the story she was writing in this video is available to purchase online, maybe from DFTBA or something like that?
Really helpful video, have watched it every day since starting NaNoWriMo, I actually think I might be able to do it. Thanks
xxxxxx
I can't wait until NaNoWriMo this year!!! I just finished my first draft of my novel though!! So Small Victory!!!!
Congratulations! Good work!
Didn't manage to do Nanowrimo this year. (I won't bore you with excuses) but well done Kristina! Wish I could have done it with you!
Kristina you are amazing! I don't know how you do this, looks scary! But I might try my first nanowrimo next year!
I don't even have a dryer, but they are also really tight after washing them. And I have one green jeans which I have to wash more often because you can actually see the stains and one time I wasn't sure if I could get in them anymore ;)
Good for you, Kristina. Some day I shall share in this joy.
i'll have to do this next year
oh my goodness, this was beautiful. Captured nanowrimo perfectly(: I didn't win this year, but I'm still writing, so I consider this a good second year. Looking forward to sleeping though! Congratulations!!!!

this is exactly what it felt like going through nano. I'm gonna do one of these for camp nano next year.
Does she have anything published? I would like to read her work.
Well done kristina!
Congrats! I hit 50,000 somewhere around Nov 20 but didn't finish the book itself by Nov 30. Oh well!
@the curious sock pig mine alternates between double and single space and is 284 pages I think
This video is pretty cute.
