And welcome to a very new series to the channel, Mortal Kombat Across the multiverse!
Now unlike my previous explorative history of series, where I tackle the characters within the mainline continuity, In this I really wanted to explore beyond the horizons of what we've come to know and expected from a character so iconic and familiar to us!
This also allows to have a pretty interesting deep dive through out the franchise, seeing all the different creative influences and changes that have impacted the character overtime with each different and new iteration.
For us to take on such an ambitious undertaking of the character, I will be touching on movies, shows and game spin offs for us to see how the character has evolved over the ages, but I do actually STRONGLY recommend watching the history of sub zero episode prior to this, as It serve as the main blue print to which each and every other version of this character Is based off, It serves as a really handy push off point to this video!

I absolutely love this video idea of exploring the different interpretations of a character throughout the franchise. It gives me Chris McFeely feels & covers versions of the characters that most people might not know.
I wish NRS would take this universe more seriously and further flesh out characters stories via animation, comic books, and spinoff games again. I really want to see a Great Kung Lao animated set during the first ever tournament, they've literally done nothing with that era accept the Conquest series that wasn't even canon.

A Chinese assassin like Sub Zero being proficient in one of the Karate styles, Shotokan, is beyond me, but that Karate style suits him well. I even like his use of Dragon style Kung Fu, which does assist his Cryomancer power❄️
Just because someone is Chinese doesn't mean they can't study something else. My brother is black and studies Tae Kwon Do and Krav Maga.
Why did the series turn sub zero into a Japanese guy in mk legacy and shifted his origins to being in fuedal japan when he's a modern day assassin and spy and why they turn him into an outworld villain when both tundra and subzero are earthrealmers the black dragon and lin kuei fighting for out world makes no sense because they're not from outworld and would only count as a victory for earthrealm
To be honest, I like MK1 (2023) version of Bi Han, due to his antagonistic role, even longer interaction with Kuai Liang and Smoke.
Either he’s Enenra or simply human with magic, Smoke is Smoke. Also, I’m okay with Cryomancer species not included, since they don’t have much importance but proves why Sub Zero has ice powers. I can just theorize that Bi Han and Kuai Liang simply unlock their elements with their Chi.

The writters and Ed boon keep fucking up the story every time they retell it they keep stealing liu kangs win in the tournament in order for him to claim victory was for him to beat the reigning champion prince Goro who slain his and his distant cousin kung lao ancestor the great kung lao and then the owner of the island shang tsung but they have Scorpion and Johnny cage steal it when Johnny cage and scorpion when it comes to a tournament structure has to be in brackets in an actual tournament sonya reptile scorpion bi han subzero cyrax secktor kano jax the should be eliminated and leave liu kang the last fighter to face outworlds champion of the last tournament held. They keep messing up characters backstories of how jax has the metal arms he never lost his biological arms in the old midway timeline those were just sleeves and he was over compensating from using his real abilities the Malibu comic had Baraka slice his arms which was non canon to the games it wasn't till the netherrealm era is when they had ermac take his arms due to raiden altering events of the timeline as a butterfly effect. They made bi han evil in the new netherrealm timeline when he was hired to kill shang tsung in his original mk1 bio they changed kano from a Japanese hapa to an australia cause of the movie and brought in movie elements into the games lore which shouldn't be canonical
I was expecting you to do this. I saw the Cryomancer invasion and I thought your videos might have to evolve to match the different histories of the characters in the upcoming future.
ABSOLUTELY love SuB zero always saw bi Han as a tragic hero akin to darth Vader to see in MK1 he is destined to fall by his own hubris is heart breaking

Sub-zero (Kuai Liang) has always been my favorite ninja character of the Mortal Kombat franchise. Even when the younger brother became the new scorpion in Liu Kang timeline. I even had an actual theory about the Mortal Kombat versus DC universe game and how it could be connected to the injustice universe since it appears both Raiden and sub-zero remember their encounters with Superman and the others.
And since Fire god Liu Kang had mentioned about their version of the multi-verse it’s possible that both the versus DC universe in injustice universe coincide with each other.

I feel Bi-Han can become Noob Saibot without dying for MK 2. He can seek out power and Quan Chi can grant that wish. Quan Chi seems to be connected with ChaosRealm thanks to his portals and tentacle monster in his gameplay.
So Bi-Han can gain his Noob shadow powers from Quan Chi via ChaosRealm

There's no way the web series can be canon to the games or a reintroduction to them the web series was terrible in hiengsight and just developed scorpion and sub zeros backstory a little more from what we got in the mk9 bio trialers.
The neatherrealm later games 2021 film and mk legends scorpion revenge takes influences from the mk legacy web series copying off the grounded in realism bryan singer xmen the mcu changes to comic books characters using the ultimate comics for inspiration Michael bay transformers & tmnt christopher nolan dark night trilogy esque trend of putting everything in black leather motor cycle fetish copying off wesley snipes revitilizing blade from being a blaxsplotation D list character, embarrased by the source materials colorful spandex costumes and comic book or video game elements, getting rid of the supernatural meta humans, the side kicks, and mystical aspects of batman or the xmen ninja turtles transformers power rangers, or mortal kombat in this case, which was terrible in that mortal kombat rebirth short film.
Mk legacy tried to make reptile a real life deformity with Is harlequinittheosis and a cannibal, they made Baraka a mad surgeon who decided to cosplay as xmen origins deadpool rather than be a race of monsters from out world, made raiden a mental patient pulling a m night Shyamalan, made subzero a cyborg and knock off the batman animated series mr freeze villain, and turned scorpion in to the poster boy protqgonist cause of ed boons favoritism to the character as a hero hired mole to enter a kumate under ground fight with a grounded shang tsung (the only reason why it was successful was because of the fan casting for jax with michael jai white and the proof the gritty r rated violence, the mk games are known for could work in the movies and break the video game movie curse.*)
Started the name misconception of scorpions backstory, gave him an original name hasashi hanzo inspired by samurai hattori hanzo, and gave him hasashi jubei and hasashi kana for scorpions son and wife as place holder names until the games canon officially named them bacause he and his family never had real names before in the official old games comics and tv because he was a villain who often worked for outworld forces, until they came up with the names hasahsi Satoshi and hasashi harumi in mkx.
making bi han and kwai linag subzero immortal fuedal Japanese ninja, made no sense and was the dumbest decision ever. cause originally both sub zero and tundra / sub zero II bihan and kwai liang are modern day assassins & spies who fight for earthrealm so was hanzo idk why they never came up with a modern surname for both of them. they made the subzero character and scorpion character the Hollywood trope of " ninjas can't exist in the modern day excuse when Christopher nolan copied a page from out of frank dux and white washed ras al ghul combining him with ducard one of batmans various teachers and the league of shadows into a clan of ninja weeb terrorist or like how Marvel & Michael bay tried to white wash shredder and the mandarin for no reason removing their personal connection to Iron man or the tmnt and making them match with the taliban war in iraq rather being japanaese and chinese martial artists organizations they are in mech suits or ran by false flag white actors. They do a convoluted change to subzeroes backstory than being a strange Chinese vagabond lin kuei whos hired to kill the shi rai ryu in modern times they shifted the timeline to fuedal japan.
the web series show killed Kwai Liang off too early in the time line never having been the mantel of tundra and working alongside sektor smoke & cyrax with kwai being portrayed as a villain holding jubei hostage and being slain by hanzo in fuedal times than living to the modern day. They white washed raiden for a 3rd time in the first season then hired an Asian actor to play him in the sequel season having him locked up in an insane asylum then being able to stop time and space talking to recast johnny actor with casper van deen, making liu kang an emo villain working for outworld on shang stung side because they removed liu kangs romance with kitana and gave him a white girl who gets fridged he broods over protraying the series protagonist like anakin skywalker arkham knight jason todd or the trend of turning the leader boyscout into a villain template they did for liu in mk9 mkx zombie liu kang & dcvsmk evil superman in injustice evil cyclops in AvX evil leonardo in idw tmnt.
then the cancled third series was unrelated to season 2 cliff hanger of kung lao and tender dick emo liu kang fighting to just being a live action version of mkx being a glorified advertisement bringing in the kombat kids a white washed bo rai cho casper van deen reprising johnny cage and Lewis tan playing kung Jin who would go on to play Cole Young in the 2021 film because under contract wb owed him for mklegacy season 3 never airing officially on youtube.
