Neuse River Fishing: Red Drum, Speckled Trout and Stripers

- It's February 22, 2022 and I hit the Neuse River for some Drum, Specks and Striper. Water temps in the low to mid 60's with tons of bait moving around in the middle of the water column. This combo provided almost nonstop action from the time i put the boat in the water. I checked off another species today when I landed my first Striper. He wasn't a keeper, but it was awesome to pull one out. Please like, comment and subscribe if you haven't already. It's really appreciated. Springtime is approaching and that means the fishing is only going to get better. Tight Lines!!!
Reels: Penn Clash 3000 & Penn Spinfisher VI 3500 series

Thank you for showing us how it is done! I really enjoy your videos as I cannot get out on the water very often.
Of course. Most recent days have been awesome. Perfect weather & rising water temps have made them fire right up.
Going to need a local guide to get acclimated any Recommendations ?
Hey Doug if you’re on FB find me on my personal page and I’ll shoot you some contacts. Name is Rich Marquard Jr. Pic is my wife and kid w/me.

Well. Where are you located and what would you like to catch?
Heck yeah! Another quality day!
Buddy today was brutal. 45 degrees. 15 mph winds. Caught 12 but 1 keeper.
Slack me too just moved to new bern 5 years ago all i have evr fished was fresh water I cant wait to get out there. I just found your channel and subbed I love local stuff. Joe, New Bern
You’ll love it I fished bass all my life until 5 years ago. I’ll never go back to freshwater haha.
Awesome video! I recently moved to NC and have been fishing the Neuse river this summer, haven't caught anything but bass though lol
Keep at it. They’re there. It’s probably more drum and Striper than trout but there’s some around.
@@SlackTidesFishing I appreciate the reply! turns out I've been fishing the Brunswick river though, not the Neuse haha my bad
Haha yeah that would help. I know nothing about Brunswick.
@@SlackTidesFishing Clearly I don't either 😂 I'll give Neuse a try, thanks for the reply. Subscribed!
Absolutely. I’m here to help however I can. Appreciate the sub.
Nice Video Coming down to newborn next week end to look at some homes . Just retired and moving there to be near the water and fishing . Life long Potomac river rat small mouth and large mouths. Part time saltwater looking forward to all the offering on the Nuese and Trent river . Selling my jet and trying to figure out my next Boat .
Dude that’s awesome. Smoked em
Bud you ever make it this way we’ll do what we can and get you on something.
You fish Brice’s Creek yet? Where you been catching in James City/Downtown New Bern area?
This was filmed on the upper part of the Neuse in a few feeder creeks. Literally every Creek had a good class of trout from 18-26” all Fall/Winter.
@@SlackTidesFishing yeah, I am used to FL fishing in the gulf. It's crazy, you didn't even have to try there. But thanks! What are people catching in this summer heat? Striper and Red?
Check out this past video. It was shot last Thursday. Topwater reds all morning long. But to answer your question typically it’s drum in the marsh this time of year. Some Specks are still around mixed in with Stripers. Old drum are popping up here and there. Won’t be long and we’ll go after them full speed in September
I just moved to Maysville Nc, can you Give me some advice on where to fish in New Bern? Cliff Nestruck
Boat or bank?
“Where” in the Neuse? Not exact location but generally speaking please. Above new bern? Below? Down near oriental? In a feeder creek? I don’t know where to go.
No problem. I’ve never fished lower Neuse. It’s always been around the New Bern/Havelock area. But I literally caught trout on a consistent bite in every single creek I fished this winter. Literally every creek.
@@SlackTidesFishing I didn’t realize they went up that far. I figured it was fresh water by new bern.
@@OriginalCoastalDistancing I’ve literally caught Specks. red drum , largemouth bass and Pickerel within a 20 yard stretch. I’ve mainly freshwater fished but moved here 5 years ago. I’m still learning as we speak.
Are you a charter captain , I am looking for my club another captain to fish up by you .
No sir I’m not. I won’t be eligible until July. Find me on FB and shoot me a message. I might be able to help you. Rich Marquard Jr
