I was floored in my 40's when I moved into and "upscale" neighborhood said they didn't have anything really planned for retirement. They had spent building the house having he best of everything, drove Audi's, have amazing pool yards and all that, while I simply got the cheapest carpet with stain protection and spent just $11k on a decent backyard. Continued to "pay myself first" like my Dada taught me and developed decent investments and a healthy state pension with now almost 30 years. Been a lot of sacrifice and scraping by, and then both my wife and I investing in ourselves with later years degrees and pushing to get better positions. We have traveled but not as much as others we know. But I am 55 and can retire right now. It is a bit of a humble brag, but damn I get sick of folks telling me what they can't afford while stopping at Starbucks daily, eating out, taking trips, buying the newest cars and having the latest phones. Especially those putting way too much into their houses like our neighbors in their 30's, knowing they have NOTHING for the future. Anyway...pay yourself first young people. LIVE cheap and then you will have SOOO much more later.

I'm good. My SS of $3,800/mo covers all monthly expenses with some leftover. I won't need to touch my retirement accounts until RMDs begin and will simply consist of a transfer from my IRA to my brokerage account. BTW, I am a Jazz client ;)

Great info. I hate the videos that say just invest more and max everything out. Most people can’t do that. Also if you are young it’s better to get an advisor to let you know if you are on track. It’s easier to increase by 1 or 2% than have to invest 40% at the end.

Should have ignored Dustin 3 months ago when he said he wouldn’t buy Nvidia and everyone piled in he was right on this station. 21% gain last 3 days with almost half trillion added to market cap. You could’ve retired a lot sooner!
1) I always say "be careful be careful be careful" when buying ANYTHING as extended as NVDA now and was. 2) I said I personally wouldn't buy it at these levels. I'm a contrarian by nature and would prefer a pullback instead of buying things that are CRAZY extended and hyped. Sorry for your loss!
