- Samantha Diaz is a singer from Harlem who is currently competing on season 18 of American Idol. Performing under the stage name Just Sam, the 20 year-old has emerged as a fan favorite and first caught the attention of Idol fans with her audition of Rise up by Andra Day. Now in the top 7, Just Sam is only one vote away from performing in the American Idol grand finale, but can she win the show? After an anxious night of waiting the answer is yes. I wanted to commend the judges also because they took her under their wing and helped her to KNOW they believe in her. I know Luke has a heart for kids as he took in his nephews, I love him for who he is as a person as well as an artist, Katie will be a great mom i saw her compassion with Sam. and Lionel, WOW!!!! HE REALLY IS A WONDERFUL PERSON, He made her feel safe and it took her confidence to the top. God Bless!!!

Sadly she probably won't have a good career which is why i hate she won. The contracts are going to hold her back tremendously.
She was my favorite from the first moment I saw her in her first audition. I have never before ever seen anyone I wanted to win right from the beginning since watching American Idol. I have problems wondering how people would really consider this an upset victory for Just Sam. I think she was always the people's favorite. Congratulations for a wonderful life. and what a phenomenal story it is to represent American Idols for the youth of today..

I always got so emotional listening to her sing. She has such a special voice that moves you. She is such a humble person too. I'm so happy for this young lady, she deserves this👏👏👏
I'm grateful she won. She deserved and it worked thru a lot to get it. I think it had a lot to do with song choice to be honest. I feel like every song she did last night and through the season was uplifting. She put me in a great mood and made me feel better with all that's going on.
I also think the risk she took of singing a song in Spanish also gave her an edge. I look at Just Sam, and see an entertainer willing to meet others where they're at. That means something to people when they can see a bit if themselves in the singer of a song.
That being said, we don't know everything about Sam either. She could have tricks and skills we know nothing about. In time, she might master an instrument and compose here own stuff. She could already do that and chose not to showcase it like the others. I think she has more potential to develop and grow. She's not all put together yet which I think is great.

I hope she won for her voice and not sob story...everyone has a story some good some bad but the whole point of American Idol is to win because you have a good voice not the saddest life. Based on singing Arthur should have won. But as in previous years the runner up normally does much better than the winner.

Arthur Gunn is good but when it comes to the title AMERICAN IDOL, Sam is the example we need for a lot of children we have here in America who can see a natural talent can help them better themselves. Like she saw Fantasia as an example now others need to see the true American Idol did not stop at Fantasia. Sam is beautiful in song and personality!
I totally understand the struggle and pain Just Sam went through and she is definitely talented. I think we should pick based on the talents not if they can be an inspiration to certain group of people. I would not be surprised if she comes within third place though. In my honest opinion, *ARTHUR GUNN* is at another level. Let's just enjoy these talented singer's skills.
