Bloodywood - Aaj (Indian Folk Metal)

Aaj is a song about the moment in time when you realise you have the strength to do what you have to do to become who you want to become. We all have our demons, our reasons to be stuck in a rut of harmful patterns and our fears of trying something new. This track is meant to act as a spark to light a fire within the listener to overcome all of that, it's about the fearless pursuit of the next level for as long as your heart continues to beat.
It marks the first occasion where the band has combined the Indian flute with electronic elements as well as the usual dose of heavy riffs, diabolical growls and powerful rap verses.

One of the most wonderful things about the Internet is that I, a middle aged woman from Chile, get to know this amazing band. Rock on!
Right, I'm so glad to live in a time where I'm able to hear music from around the world.
Hello from Ireland👋🇮🇪
Hi from France ! 🤘
The truth. Loving my Hu, Bloodywood and Ningen Isu global metal doses here in my kitchen in Australia🤘🤜🤛
Metal is truly international music. I love bands from the US, Sweden, the UK, Brazil, Taiwan, Israel/Palestine, Canada, Australia, Botswana, France, now India, and so much more.
Dutch metalhead here. This is glorious. I work closely with a lot of Indian colleagues and I showed them this song. While it wasn't their cup of tea (not metalheads) there was a glimmer in their eyes. They had a sense of joy and pride to see that I embraced something from their culture. This song literally makes me bond with them despite being from opposite parts of the planet. Music transcends... thanks for this guys ❤️
Another Dutch (from the U.S.) metalhead here. 100% agreed. I'm going to show this to some of my Indian colleagues too. 😎🤘🤘🤘
I'm from indian heritage through Suriname (parents) born and living in Amsterdam . I was introduced to this band recently by youtuber Stevie T and this is the second song I've heared from them. This is amazing. "Transform into the final form and knock it out . Kaioken ! " That's dragonball bars. And the flute and the woman singing at the end.
These guys aren't just another metalband copying everyone else, they are reinventing metal .
I am however still trying to figure out what dialect this is , when I use google translate I don't get the same translation as they have in the video. Similar happened with my father (he speaks urdu fluently).
Found it, it's not Urdu but Hindi , too bad because I was hoping this was urdu so that I can learn some of the language.
@@cyrilvaneijkelenburg3743 Try a song called "Ari Ari Ari" That was my introduction to Bloodywood.
@@cyrilvaneijkelenburg3743 YES bro! this is basic HINDI which is quite common in most parts of India, though I can assure you that, what they are singing and what they have translated into English in the subtitles are quite connecting! NO error in translation whatsoever.
@@django1502 That's what I said. I was hoping it was Urdu , as I already mentioned in previous message I want to learn Urdu but the translation in Urdu is very different from Hindi. All of my family on my fathers side speak Urdu and Bollywood movies use Urdu instead of Hindi. In Surinam the people from India heritage all speak Urdu , not Hindi.
"you cant play the flute in a metal song"
Bloodywood: "hold my beer"
Bloodywood is not the only band that used the flute in metal :) but something else is important here - try to imagine this song WITHOUT a flute :) I'm sure that you won't succeed :)
Wait to you hear the metal songs with saxophone in it 😍

Bloodywood: flute solo and it was extraordinary 🔥

Couldn’t agree more. This is definitely cool but Tull and Anderson were the OG’s when it comes to rock and roll flute. Locomotion Breath, anyone?

This entire album man.... From a track calling out divisive fundamentalist, fascist, and communalist politics, to the strongest battle cry against rape culture I've ever heard, to an anthem to self-realization and empowerment... and so much more. I think you have really cracked the formula for Raouls rapping. Not to say that they were bad before but man it really took this song to a much higher place in this. Also i really loved the electronic influences in this. 2nd song of this upcoming album and it is already 2 of my favourite songs from you guys so far. Also seriously impressive video since you did it on your own.
I was going to attribute my love for your music to a small (unknown) Indian influence in the DNA but naah it is just objectively amazing music.
I think the electronic influence came from the Lady vocalist. She's The Snake Charmer on you tube and makes interesting music. I love her Celtic/Punjabi stuff.

Doing Metal from a desi "Hip-Hop" Oriented country & reaching out to Millions without a label is undoubtedly the greatest thing ever happened to Indian Metal/Rock culture!!
In the 90's & 2000s, the underground scene was mostly brimming with metal acts. There were several national level competitions like Great Indian Rock & Independence Rock.
I'm a Metal Fan my whole Life and I just discovered this. Amazing Track ! Keep going. You guys will be big !
Check out their documentary about their 1st gig. It's really good. It kinda traces their history from the 2 guys squashed into a tiny flat to late 2019.
Love these guys and their ethics and support for stray and rescue dogs.
i have only been a metal fan for 1 year and just discovered Bloodywood 🤩 bloody marvellous!
Last week I saw Bloodywood live and it reignited the fire in my soul. Feeling renewed I reconnected with an old friend who turns out just tried to end his onw life. I decided to help him get up again, I sent in Jee-Veerey first while I told him what the next steps are. Today he contacted me, now with renewed hope, making change happen ins his life. I decided today I'm seding him this. It is the perfect song for this moment in his life. Thank you Bloodywood!
Today, I, a grown man not much older than you, am crying tears of joy as I write this, because you gave hope to a friend who felt hopeless.
And in the process, saved their life, and encouraged them to get back up swinging.
Thank you for saving the life of one person, because all it takes is for one person to reach out to another who is struggling.
Thank you.
As a metal fan from India, I am so glad these guys exist. Not only exist but kicking ass. In a time where unfortunately the metal scene in India is really low (so many metal pubs closed in Bangalore). Keep rocking guys. 🤘🤘

This is NOT what I was expecting when I saw "Indian Folk Metal"
... and it's GLORIOUS!
same, haha. It´s absolute stunning!
The main chorus is killer. The Today I am reborn part in that high vibrato killed it
Yeah, I think the song could be better, but oh man that chorus!!! I was just listening again and again just for that bit!!!
Disclaimer: I don't listen to metal all that much, unless it's something really good. Bloodywood is bloody amazing. I think they could spend some more time with the lyrics, not just the chorus, which is awesome. Don't be afraid to use your own language (just wow - I think I need to learn some indian), which I prefer in the chorus than the english lyrics. Lose that(the?) chick. She doesn't fit. The music is amazing, and the flute just magical. I never bother with videos, I just listen to the music, I usually say that videos are unnecessary and most times are just meh they could be just skipped. Not this time!!! Not this time... the video could be even more awesome, although it's still quite good. The rapping dude needs to lose the army t-shirt I think and wear something that fits, the rest are wearing something like..is this traditional chinese or it could be indian I don't know. The lead singer is just awesome, especially in the chorus, that energy, it's one of those songs where you just have to watch the video too, not just listen to the song. And he's extremely talented and this would be even more apparent without the fast-pace death metal lyrics parts, if these parts were more melodic I mean, just like the chorus is. Just a really amazing band I'm happy to find on youtube. If anyone reads this and don't agree, that's fine it's just personal prefs, I could be totally wrong, and obviously I meant no disrespect to a really talented group. I just wanna see more of them really.
And one more greetings from Russia (Moscow). At first I listened to Bloodywood covers for fun, but every cover was a masterpiece, much cooler than the original. And it was immediately clear that if the guys know how to remake SO cool and with taste, their own music will be ingenious! I didn't make a mistake! Very high quality music in every sense, it's even useless to compare with anyone, Bloodywood you are beautiful, you have your own style and recognizable sound. How cool that so many talented people found each other. I enjoy listening to every song. Please continue!

They made a flute metal...read that again. Not only did they weaponize a wind instrument. They also put about 7 genres into this song and managed to make it work brilliantly. Why are they not headlining stadiums yet?
Because America is STUPID. I was at their first American performance at Louder than Life '22, & they had one of the biggest, most excited crowds for a newer band. That moment of history was AWESOME.
такой шикарный жирный звук! отказываюсь воспринимать это как фолк, группа имеет собственное звучание, которым выгодно отличается от других групп. буду ждать альбом)
Они как всегда аxуенны =)))))
It's actually Indian folk mix with metal which creates a unique sound and style that they have
the flute solos was dearly missed and you bought it back. absoute banger you guys have put here! lot of love and prayers for you guys !
It just fits into their music, I love it in all their songs.
guitarist is also the flutist, so does they need an extra guitarist for live play?
No actually they don't. He doubles it up. We all must admit, Karan is very hardworking on how he sets the vibe of the song. No credit due for jayant bhaiya for the energy and emotions via his powerful scream and Hindi punchlines, Raoul bhaiya doing amazing rhymes like he is having Bohemia in morning and Eminem in evening as his food,, sarthak bhaiya obviously on his dhol giving that very Indian Punjabi touch, roushan bhaiya going all crazy on warm beers and killing it on bass and vishesh bhaiya is obviously the Indian Joey jordison. Together they are wonderful and I m pretty sure the headliners for major metal concerts around the globe. ❤️🔥

@@RockingKT always the best time to start for them. He came downstairs last night at one point and said I thought I may join you for some metal. So proud

Straight up killed it, and then brought in the most talented Snake Charmer for vocals without her pipes.
A fan from Alaska
Snake Charmer got to use her other pipes 🙂

Единственное что испортило виды - грязная линза камеры. Но это прям ложечка дёгтя, на море мёда.
2.5M views is still not enough credit for this masterpiece much love from canada, you guys need more exposure cause you guys rock
Love from pakistan ...keep up the gud work guys ...loved it
I love you guys! You guys rock, Unfortunately, Metal Songs are killed in India and are replaced by Pop Songs. It's good to see Indian Metal Surging by Bloodywood! Hats Off to you Guys! Love your from New Delhi!
By the way loved Gaddaar, it was awesome.
You'll love this one!
I've been to multiple countries and many different places, and I have found this to be the case everywhere. Metal isn't that popular anywhere compared to pop, rap, country, gospel, etc.
Metal is my favorite genre, but most people don't relate to it and freak out as soon as any heavy sounds begin and demand you turn it off then they turn on their pop. Every day, I only hear rap and pop when cars drive by. If anything, you'll usually hear rock before you'll hear someone playing metal most the time. I have to actually ask people if they listen or like metal music and most say no or what's metal music.
Although I would imagine India doesn't have much metal bands compared to many other countries.
Same here in America. Rock was huge in the 2000s, but ever since the 2010s it's been waning in popularity. Now it's pretty much all manufactured pop music or really terrible soundcloud rappers. That's one reason why I love Bloodywood so much, they remind me _a lot_ of the bands I listened to as a teenager.
Nothing wrong with pop but let me just say nothing can hold these guys back now. They will be a global act, mark my words.
@@jesse9616 I don't know about other countries but I could say Indian Pop Songs are definitely very bad, like the lyrics repeat everytime, the Singer is too cringe and uses heavy Autotune for Everything, the lyrics are so bad and doesn't even makes sense, has just killed other Genres.
now we need a dev team to make a game, just to use this song as the final boss them song. you guys are the fucking best, my spine is shivering since the first drop at the begining.
This song makes me want to go help old ladies cross the road while headbanging.
As a 47 year old American male I never would have thought I’d like a Nu Metal Indian band but damn
If you get a million hits on this today its because I played it that many times. You continue to progress, evolve and grow without straying from yourselves and your original sound. Legendary.
the sound of this is actually INSANE, it's like listening to 1000 songs at once
This song came out at the most difficult time in my life. I was feeling really down about what had happened to me, and listening to this song, reading the lyrics, made me remember why I fight and that nothing will bring me down. It inspired me so much. Thanks Bloodywood
Your music continues to be the best tool in my "stay alive" toolbox. Not only do y'all rock, you make such meaningful music
35 years a musician myself (mostly violin); huge fan of The Snake Charmer, who brought me here.
Jayant's vocals are like nothing I've ever heard. The range from absurdly deep growls to grainy chest voice singing is bonkers, and all of it is so full of emotion. I think he is my favorite vocalist at present, in any band (you beat Floor from Nightwish, if only narrowly). To put that much soul into a scream....it is really impressive.
Also I know Vishesh catches a lot of flak for not looking as cool as the rest of you, but that guy can PLAY. Damn.
Raoul, you are absolutely killing it on Dana Dan. You remind me of a cross between RATM and Limp Bizkit's vocalists. I've seen you evolve the most over y'all's UA-cam career (been following for a couple years now) and I love where you're headed.
And Karan--as I understand it, you write and produce all of this in addition to playing guitar like a beast as well as (apparently) the flute? Keep up the great work, man. Wow.
Dana Dan is the PERFECT track for Raoul. Have you heard his solo, pre-Bloodywood rap? A lot of it's very angry and political (much like de la Rocha in RATM) and you can see that energy on display on Dana Dan tenfold.
@@DemonLordRaiden I think he is totally fine in their moodier/more folk tracks, but he definitely shines in the more intense ones.
@@drago939393 Oh, I agree, Raoul's great in the mellow tracks, bring an energy with him. He just feels REALLY suited for things like Dana Dan.
I simply love Jayant ❤️
Instrumentals, vocal harmonies, lyrics, location, video production, audio mastering - All absolutely unreal. And what's better? You've done it all yourselves! Incredible talent, incredible band. Much love ❤
This song has helped me out so much after being struck with metastatic melanoma a year ago. I thought it would be the end of me, but this has helped me get through it. I'm now 7 months cancer free. I feel so much better now 😊.
Аплодирую стоя, браво. Мой плейлист пополнится вашими треками. Как будто свежего воздуха вдохнул.
