Convinced of the beauty they bring, these three men deliver a world-class performance. For me, this is the absolute best in terms of music, atmosphere and style. Their rendition of 'China Boy' during 'Carnegie Hall 1938' is even faster. Downright phenomenal.
This is a from a live special, "Allen In Movieland" (which featured Steve Allen and Benny Goodman, "behind the scenes", during the filming of "The Benny Goodman Story", which was released later that year).
For young people to be able to hear this music by Benny is a fortunate set of circumstances; in this way they might have an inclination to practice and continue his legacy. Roger Plafkin--Plafkin Farms, Ada, Michigan
That trio could swing like nobody's business. The fingers of Wilson and Goodman, and... everything that Krupa brings to the party. We're lucky to be living in an age where music performances have been recorded for audio, for video, and, now, never more as widely disseminated. Thank you for posting!
Yes I saw him many times and played a club date where he was an act and played disc jokey jump with the band. This was close to his death. I was so embarrassed because he rehearsed the band on my drum set and the bass drum kept moving. I got his autograph anyway, a real fine gentelman
Oh! Yeah! With the never-perspiring ever smiling Gene on drums. As a worthwhile tribute see what some young kids do with this @ "China Boy (Saint Andreu jazz band) by Rodrigues" Surprise yourselves, do.

It's a joy to watch and listen to these great jazz Legends; Gene Krupa always with a smile on his face, the Godfather of rocknroll drummers
Hi, I'm 14, and I'm here because my music taste is THAT screwy. I love it
How is liking jazz music screwy? It’s the best music to ever be created :)
And don’t worry, I’ve been listening to it since I was a baby but I started to like it about 2 years ago :)

When you needed talent to be a musical performer
The only drummer who could make Goodman smile. Go Gene!
Krupa is enjoying every second.
Omg, the ORIGNAL Benny Goodman trio D:
Wish they knew how to mic the drums better back then. But this is a treat to see Krupa play even if there were no sound.
Teddy Wilson as usually, great.
I feel like dancing
amazing musicality on this one-such talent from all three!
Benny Goodman & Artie Shaw- I liked them both for different reasons.....
Look at him go on that clarinet, man!!!

Gene Krupa The All Time King of Skins. Thank you for posting.
The expression on his face just emphasises how much he was enjoying himself on that drum kit!
the fluidity of BG's playing here is remarkable
