  • The Persian Kamancheh, often simply called "Kamancheh" or "Kamancha," is a traditional stringed instrument that holds a significant place in Persian and Middle Eastern music. It is a small, pear-shaped, and upright fiddle, renowned for its unique sound and emotional resonance. The Kamancheh is considered one of the most ancient musical instruments in the world, with a history that can be traced back over a millennium.
    Key features and construction:
The Kamancheh features a hollow, resonating soundbox, typically made from a single piece of wood such as mulberry or walnut. Its top is covered with a stretched membrane traditionally made from animal skin, but modern versions may use synthetic materials. The neck of the instrument is often carved from a separate piece of wood and attached to the soundbox. The tuning pegs, strings, and bridge are found on the neck.
